I believe you're supposed to do something like delete all the temporary files that are made when compiling. But somebody else might want to clear this up.

You can only place one texture on any one face, so what was done in that tutorial was a little different. The wall area that you say is "detailed" is really just another brush, with a texture on it that blends in with the rest of the walls. The lab textures are some of the few that include secondary walls to detail with.

What's really annoying about it is that you can't really find a download for 3.3 anymore, since they've all been replaced by the 3.4 "final" version. I had to dig up my version from some old backup CD. As far as I know, I'm the only person still providing a download for it.

You should put them in the same folder as the default tools, then reconfigure Hammer (you shouldn't still be using Worldcraft) so that it uses them instead of the old ones.

Maybe it IS only for the Source engine. Maybe the other games already supported it. Or maybe they still don't. I doubt they'd be so specific if it was for every game on Steam.

Grouping objects only changes your control over them in Hammer, and doesn't affect the compiled map any. It certainly won't allow you to have two entities move togethor.

That sounds cool, except that not many people make DLLs, so I can't see it getting used much. Besides that, most people want their code very specialized for their mod. And what would you do if you wanted a certain combination of the features provided in the different DLLs?

Granted, but then the games suck because those areas are totally lacking in any human enemies, and the games end up getting only average reviews. Half-Life 2 is never made because the originals were such a letdown.

I wish NinTnine's responses would start making a little more sense (how do trees move to mars? How does anyone move to mars?) :|

I would say FUBAR (being a military term), But I've already taken that. And yes, I swear I'm still working on that mod, so don't go stealing its name!

I can't think of any good ones at the moment, But It's kind of hard to think up names when you don't know anything that heppens in the mod. Does this soldier escape? Is he picked up by G-Man? Did he get blown to bits by the nuke? How did this soldier get to be in Black Mesa? Did his Osprey crash? Was he brought in without problems? Little things like this can be of much help when naming something, so I would suggest giving some part of the story to us.

They had moving targets in the Half-Life training map, but those were probably made with moving func_buttons (if that's possible), so they wouldn't fly realistically. I might suggest using some sort of setup with a func_pushable that was breakable and a func_conveyer to launch it, but I don't even know if that's possible with Half-Life physics.

Are you planning on making the tutorial n00b-proof? As in, you can understand it even if you're one of those people who has never tried coding in their life? Because I'd really like to know how to do this, but all the coding tutorials I've seen assume you have some kind of basic knowledge of what you're doing, which always put me out of luck. :(

The last pic looks the best, although it's still kind of messy (put something better on top of those chainlink fences, will you?) 1, 2, and 3 are way too boxy, and the first uses only one texture for the architecture of the room, which makes it look flat. In 2 and 3, something like raised metal walkways might look better than the concrete floor.

Erm... Any ideas about the story, or did you just get some sudden inclination to make an Opposing Force mod?

By the way, isn't it true that, by copying the Opposing Force DLLs, you could just make the mod for Half-Life? It would be preferable to do this, since many people don't have Opposing Force installed.
