Graphics and engine types aren't as important as how you use them.

Pokemon Black and White got good reviews because of its depth and size. For it to look like Crysis 2, they'd have to sink in millions of dollars that they don't have.

It doesn't matter what you can do, it matters what you actually do.

Final Fantasy 13 can do so much more than Final Fantasy 7 in terms of story, looks, and gameplay. It just doesn't.

Final Fantasy 7 is a brilliant masterpiece of design, because it worked with what it had. Final fantasy 13 is a horrible, linear, straight line with one of the most awful video game stories ever, which constantly riddles its narrative with plot-holes and fills itself with pointless wandering... in a straight line. For hours.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've tried to leap into the mod scene. But now that I am finally releasing maps getting 5000 subscribers on maps and getting on the front CSGO page, I'm thinking about making a Source mod.

I've got an idea for a pretty small, mappack-like mod, basically about escaping a Combine prison where they're turning to turn you into a stalker.

If you want to map for Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 1-2, or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, then don't use the Source SDK. Use their respective Authoring Tools, which are listed under "Tools" with the Source SDK.

Four years of practice finally paying off! I don't know why, but just taking this screeny has made me incredibly happy. I'm proud of it. The first map I'm going to put in my portfolio for the one day in the future that I will apply at Valve.

Also a functionality that enables long term members to revive threads. (2 years or more).
How about, instead of long-term members being able to revive threads, we have a rule where you can revive a thread as long as it was made after you joined the forum.

Battle vs. Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts 2 is a pretty awesome one. Part of it involves running up and down a skyscraper, and... well, it's Kingdom Hearts 2!

Hmm... perhaps the Battle vs. Kuja in Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite. It's just plain awesome, the battle theme is probably one of the best in FF history, and Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite game of all time. Nostalgia....

I don't have an older VMF, nor does it have anything referencing the light_environment.

It obviously has something to do with me opening it up in a new engine version. When I try to load it in Source Engine MP, Hammer crashes.

I've been working on a GMOD map, and I wanted to base its skybox off of one of my CSGO maps. So I decided I'd open it in the CSGO SDK and put in the light_environment, and when I tried to load it back in the Source SDK, it wouldn't work. I tried removing the light_environment, and the same thing happened...

How can I get the map to open in Source SDK? I even tried running the .vmx to no avail!

Ross Scott has been dealing with the issue of people wanting him to use HD models in Freeman's Mind, but he said the sudden transition to the regular to HD models would be really weird in the series, so he chose not to do it.

Holy shit! This is probably one of the greatest maps I've ever seen!

My only two complaints are that the water's cubemaps might need some adjusting, and you can throw the bomb into the pit.

Would you mind if I ask for the vmf? I would love to take a look at your design style. (It's how I've learned mapping thus far.)

Yes, but it's only at certain angles. I'll try and extend the skybox next time I get to mapping, DocRock.
