It in fact existed in Xen now with Gordon and the Gman. Everybody at TWHL walked up to Gordon and said respect. Then everyone went up to the Gman and kicked him in his metal balls.
So the Gman is Dr Breen. Now it makes sense
I had that problem and it started reinstalling CSS without me asking it to and I had to wait an hour grrr.
Take Splinter Cell 3 for example. The Ai is the most important bit in the game. They can climb ladders, press switches etc....

I made a little test level yesterday just for the fun of it and to test the AI.
When I placed combine in the level they started to run around shooting at me. The only thing is, they don't dodge that much and stand there taking bullets from your gun.
I never tried this but in the E3 video, the player pushed a table in front of a door and the combine couldn't go in so they shot through the windows and eventually knocked the door down. That made me wanna buy HL2 so much but after finishing it I wondered where all the cool stuff had gone and why the AI didn't seem that good.

There is a tutorial somewhere.
Some grass textures have built in grass sprites so just make a floor with a certain grass texture and when you play the map, you will see random grass sprites all over it.

Gordon can save scientists from running into mines or falling into xen and exploding due to bugs if you do it right!

Erm, just setup the models and stuff in HL2DM config, then fiddle with texturing or entities in HL2 config, since it's only a model issue?

Hammer crashes whenever I click World Model but only if I map for HL2.
HL2DM and CSS work fine but HL2 decides to crash Hammer and a message saying Hammer is having problems and you can send a report etc to Windows.
Anyway I thought it might have something to do with the gameinfo.txt so I searched for all the gameinfo.txt in my computer and copied the ones with HL2 in them but it still crashes :S
I am running out of ideas. I can still use HL2DM to open it and place models but it can get annoying having to swap every time I wish to add a model!

My point was you can decompile HL2 maps and learn how they made effects e.g.
On the boat maps you have to shoot explosives to trigger some metal on a rope to swing into a door which then opens.
How they made that tower collapse.
How they made the weapon stripper etc
