the doom shotgun is and will always be the most satisfying and well balanced weapon in all videogame history, if you argue you havent played doom and are a homosexual

there are so many gimmicky weapons its hard to really see those that rate above and beyond, obviously the grav gun is one of those but triple shoot in contra WTF, if you want to be that tenuous side scrollers like r-type, killing everything on the screen by pressing fire has got to count for something

anway serious sam has a wep in it that fired fricking 10ft wide cannonballs that flattened everything, thats gotta be worth something

we also cant pay US prices and cant get access to most of your manufacturers, so we have to settle for expensive imported stuff. Even then a good psu costs at LEAST ?50 and even then itll sound like a jet engine taking off.

thats the price range you should aim for when buying a psu, dont get the cheap crap as its a pretty vital component to your system you really dont want to break and/or spike your pc

the Seasonic 500W PSU - S12 costs around 80 quids and should be more than enough for what you'll be doing, its also got a quiet fan in it should you wish to make a quiet pc (which isnt that hard - change all case fans for 5v 120mm , 20mm cpu hs+fan on lowest speed, zalman gpu hs+fan, job done)

im sure the standard molex to 6 pin gpu thingy will work, its just a 12v rail it needs

however if your psu is so old it doesnt have one you should prolly think about upgrading it

after telling me that the doom chainsaw was only acquired late in the game I nearly switched off, its on the second level!

also, no doom shotgun means this is fraudulent and the gravity gun cannot pickup people until the end, I WANT MY MONEY BACK

its fine to plug a 24 pin ATX plug into a 20 pin socket, normally the pins should detach. There should be a seperate ATX12v connector for the 4 pin socket the other side of the CPU from the 20 pin socket.

orpheus if it worked that way I wouldn't have just wasted 500 fricking quid on a htpc that I thought would cost only 300. I already had a gpu, cpu, psu and mobo, for no reason the PSU which used to run this exact setup no longer works with this mobo, but works with all my other computers, the huge zalman cpu heatsink doesnt fit in my new htpc case and to top it all off I bought another heatsink and I had to physically cut and bend some of the fins for it to fit in the fricking case vertically! in Firewall = No Servers :'( Post #186732
hosting on anything but a dedicated line is a bad idea, too laggy for everyone

however as im sure someone has said your problem is obviously with NAT and not any firewall in place, the dg834g, similar to that netgear, comes with a very simple set of default rules - block everything incoming, allow everything outgoing.

so a machine will need to be designated as the server, assign it a static ip (you have to with basic NAT) and just tell the router to send all traffic on the ports specified for that game to that computer

or if you really care about security you'll always keep the machine fully patched and isolate it from the internal network via the routers firewall and set it up as a DMZ (de militarised zone), essentially this will mean that ALL ports are open to this pc so any incoming traffic is sent to it. Obviously this isnt a good idea for a pc you have anything important on as it does make it a hackers target.

actual costs in the UK for those who like to rely on more than 'apparently'

Average 1-sheet a4 in a c6 envelope (a4 folded twice) will be just above 20g, so ?0.72 if you want it to arrive within 2 weeks, surface mail is far too slow.

thats a terrible cynical attitude to have ZL, without exploration we would know so very little of the world, the solar system and the greater galaxy and universe we live in. Space exploration has so immensly furthered our understanding of all sciences, to completely dismiss it because of the problems of society is nihilistic and ignorant.

bill gates was a very good business man and a geek to boot, he knew how the market would shift and how to market his products to accomodate that and become the dominant force

of course there was also a bit of luck involved along the way
