aw thats sweet, i used the multimanager to set off a bunch of light entities and then a glowing flickering sprite in the air...it looks awesome, thanks for the help!

nope im still having problems with it...its really weird. like there are no light entities almost, just everything is lit up i dont know how its happening, cuz it works perfectly on my comp

ok i tried that and it didnt work, its really weird because everything in his map is lit...like even the tunnels are like daylight. i read somewhere that some flush thing might do something with lighting but i dont know anything about it :confused:

i tried giving my map to a friend of mine. on my screen the map is really really dark..the way its supposed to be, but on his its really bright everywhere. is there something wrong with my lighting?

if anyone has read my other post they know im trying to make a mortar that lights up part of the map instead of blowing something up. basically i just want this to be a light switch, but some how i seem to have messed that up too. I have the button on the mortar...i just want it to turn on a light i have hovering above the mortar field but it never turns on. ive check the names on my switch a million times i knowtheir right...anyone have this problem? ps im using zoner so i dont think its the vis.exe

ok ive tried that and it didnt work, but im having a problem i think...cuz like...i have my mortar func_button set off the flash of the mortar, the sound and the flare itself...but only the flash is goig off, i never get the sound or the flare entity going

alright im working on this project. im taking your standard mortar set up but instead of having it drop bombs on a field...im trying to get it to drop a illuminatng flare like in the movies. now im thinking i just make a train that glows on its way down, but i cant seem to get anything to work...anyone have any ideas?

ive read countless posts on how to add models to your map. ive tried all of them and i always have the same problem. the map begins loading in steam and then it crashes to a message saying the name_num for the model couldnt be found...ive tried using the sprite thing and typing in the dir for the model but that didnt work either...im so confused! :confused:

ok and i have ladders that work with the ladder textures on them but they dont show up in the game...like the ladders work but you cant see them

so ive tried adding models to my map a few times and my game always crashes when it happens...ive read that i need to make a env_model entity to add them but they dont show up in my entity lists...any ideas?

hey, your local newb here...i have finally, after countless errors and lighting problems to get a really basic map up and running in DoD to test some stuff out with. I had a few questions im hoping you experts can answer.

first of all...when the game boots up, im able to pick whether i want to be axis or allies and then i sit around in the spectator kinda mode for a few seconds before the guy yells out "platoon stick together!" after he says that i cant move anymore, i can look around but not move. i can go to spectator mode and move around but i never spawn...what am i doing wrong? i have info_initial_player_axis and allies type entities in there.

the last question i have is about how far you can see in the map. again im in spectator mode but i cant see very far at all. its not too dark or anything, i just cant see as far as i can in normal maps. is there some kind of setting i havent changed or set yet?

thanks in advance for the help, this site is the biggest help ever!! let me know if you need any more information. :D

ok ive read the posts on these problems before but i still cant get my maps to work. my map is nothing but a cube with a info_player_start thing..im trying in DoD i dont know if that has anything to do with it...someone plzzzz helppp
