Ok, this is obviously a slight take-off of Rimrook's cake decorating contest... but I thought it might work, and if it don't, well, sorry!

All you have to do is add the funniest, cleverest, or what ever caption to this picture. No images, this is just to see how good people are with words, rather than psp!

Good luck!

Actually, that isn't a joke, the only thing he can really do is freecell, hes played for 'bout 10 years, started on our win95, at game #1. now hes on 8000... lame or what!!! anyway, of topic but i thought you guyz wod enjoy a laugh!!!

if you have a tunnel going through some a pool of water - if you tie all parts of the water to one entity, then some dissapear, you get errors, and sometimes the water appears somewhere else

what you need to do is tie each one seperately, and make the lower ones a texture set to 1, so that you can't see the layers.

in Virus making, why? Post #161332
i hate virus-makers, hackers, etc, as much as the next person, but some people just can't help it. every time new software / hardware is released, it will be everyones aim to hack it... and i do sort of agree to the previous post... these people are computer-bound fat people, who couldn't win a real fight if their life depended on it, so they rely on basically catching other people out, such as viruses... they are not expected by the receiver.

in a real fight, you both have equal knowledge. one may win because they are stronger or know how to block, etc, but in the end, they have both chosen to fight, and are prepared. viruses are unexpected, and out of order

personally, i didn't really enjoy the map under the HL2 bridge, pretty boring. - however, i did like Ravenholm, shit scary, but some serious good mapping!! i love little puzzles in games... so for that, I liked some of the challenges in HL2 using the airboat, ie, seesaw.

on other games, well, i don't really play any other FPS, although i remember getting quite excited after completing the 'hard' levels on lemmings 2!!!

...oh, the good 'ole days!

i think every1 first / second computer will probably be a manufacture... like me, i had a company put mine together, but now, im looking inside and thinking - this ain't so hard. so next time, im gonna have a lot of fun getting the components, and doing in my own time, and for much less. and, as satchmo said, you can leave out what you don't care about, and spend that money on upgrading something more important to you,- an option not always avalible from companies.

erm... yeah, strange?!? :| as said above, I don't think this would work, i don't even think its possible for all players to load up new map simutaneousely, (spelling?) on it. Also, you would have to make sure each map was the same size, or code so the players return to info_ starts, which may happen anyway? practice it first on your own

so your saying just copy/paste mpeg file onto DVD? I tried this sort of, (copy/paste) like CDs, but it wouldn't burn. I also tried NERO (arrgh!) but coz it weren't a full edition, it only supports SONY burners (dicks) and mines Pioneer. it can only create a DVD image on me hard-drive

no, the 2048 bytes stands for quality. not quite sure how :|

under options, the tab 'record'

Record Quality

(multiple chose box)

only 1 option - - - '2048 bytes DVD Quality'

in .mpeg dvd burning - quick way? Post #159248
Ok, here's the situation.

I have a WinTV Nova-T Digital TV Card in my computer
This card records .mpeg format
I also have a DVD Burner, and want to be able to put the videos onto DVDs, but without waiting ages. :|

Currently, im using Aurora DVD Burner Pro, which converts the .mpeg files to DVD compatable. The trouble is - this process takes AGES!!!!

It is converting at the rate on average at 10mins of .mpeg in 20minutes of converting.

Now, what i want to do is good 'ole copy/paste files onto DVD, and watch, etc, however, I have only managed this with CD, by creating a VCD. This is successful, and works perfectly, except for the fact that im limited on space.

Another possibility is making the .mpeg files smaller, however Hauppauge only offers 1 record quality - High (2048 DVD QUALITY)

So - is there any way to:

a) reduce size of .mpegs, even if quality is lowered

(possible using a different capture device and encoder (already tried Windows Series 9 Encoder & Windows Movie Maker - yeah, I know crappy, but neither work))

b) quicken converting rate - KILL ME PLEASE!!!

c) copy/paste method onto disk, like VCD

d) any other method you can think of to make this ^ process quicker

The burn speed is NO problem, its a fast writter, and this usually takes about 5 - 10 minutes for 1 hour of video.

Well, there you have it! A long post I know, but really appreciate any1's help - if they actually know what they're talking 'bout!!!!

Tah

in Difference between Fast Vis and normal Post #158967
for final compile, you should definately compile with full vis, although fast vis should be fine for stage compiling - however, what you will notice is that with fast vis, light 'beams' and shadows are harsh lines, which if lighting plays a key part in your map - which it should, you should take into account everything to do with this.

in Most Ridiculous Way To Die In HL & HL2 Post #157927
this may not be the worst way to die, but its THE MOST ANNOYING!!!

Ok, so your playing Citizens Arrest level or wateva, running like mad around the streets, smearing the guts of any and every combine that you see, of course followed closely by your trusty group of friends - or are there?

suddenly, you're ambushed. attacked from all sides by combines, and your going down. The only thing you can do is hide - argh... you see a doorway - the perfect hiding place!

so you run over, (followed closely - still!) and you get to the doorway, and who is standing there, minding their own buisness... one of your friends You try to get past, but she's blocking your path.

so... you die, there, in front of the doorway... and you can here is a women's voice... repeating over and over again...

"sorry freeman"

"watch out"

"sorry... didn't see you there"

"heh"

"careful"

"sorry"

"ill try not to get in your way"

"yeah... let's go"

THEY ARE NOT FRIENDS... THEY JUST GET IN YOU BLOODY WAY!!!

thanks for listening!
