I downloaded that last week... bloody good! Although... won't you get comments on it in the map vault?! Anyway, yeah it was cool. Great archteture, (cant spell) and lighting was A+ as well.

My only complaint is that I thought some things were a little big... maybe just a personal preference!?!?! :P I think maybe I have a bad eye for dimensions.

I just wanna see the full version... any idea how long? But so far... great work.... don't let it slip!

in Has Mapping Ruined Your Gaming? Post #147203
I play a lot of games, and no matter what game it was, I was always impressed by something. But now, replaying HL2, its lost a little of its magic, I now longer see a massive door, and think wow that must of been hard to make!

But is this a good or bad thing?

At least now I can enjoy the little things that I know were harder to make than a door... I'm not sure. :

So how about you? Do enjoy FPS games any more or less for knowing how everything is done, so nothing is 'special'?

in recomend me something! Post #145653
it does depend completely on your budget. every 5-10? extra would help. for something around ?40-50, maybe a Radeon 9200SE, 9550 is good but is a bit more. the 9200SE also has a TV output. Obivously, if you could afford a 9800PRo, that would better, not the best, but a definately worthy card for its price. I don't really know much about Nvidias, never had one.

Personally i would find any way to get money and get a good one, coz when you can afford it, youll be annoyed that you wasted any money. borrow sum or wateva, its just not worth skimping on a graphics card, no matter how desperate you are.

@ Saco:  Whoa man, calm down

@ Every1: Im just talking about stupid mistakes. Not the 'glitches' that allow speedrunners to 30sec a map. The image I posted is soo obvious to any tester, but im not talking about the quality of the game, etc. sorry for misunderstanding!

in HL - Obviously Bad Mapping! Post #145506
I was replaying HL earlier today, and it gradually came to my attention that a lot of the mistakes made weren't major, bad just down-right stupid.

This was quite likely down to lack of testing (due to lack of time) by the HL team and maybe pure ignorance... but away... i just wondered what the worst bit of mapping [i]you[/] have found playing HL?

I'll start: a poster placed about 10 units away from the wall. I know its definately not the worst in the game, but its a start!

the multimanger is triggering other things including a door which opens on perfect timing. Also, tried 0.1 and 1.0, but it still triggers about 10 - 15 seconds later. This happens in other places in the same map and when I try it in other maps!

Couldn't find this in forums and tutorial didn't answer question.

I have Barney saying a sentence, not moving or anything, only talking. his sentence is triggered by a trigger once, linked to multimanger, set to 0.001 delay, but he says the sentence about 10 -15 seconds after I trigger it.

Pleaz shed some light on this rather annoying problem.

Cheers.

Just wondered what anyone did for Halloween- if anything!

Normally I sit by my window, right above the front door, and shoot anybody who comes near with an air-pistol. I don't shoot them but near them, and i tell you, it scares the crap out of them!!!!

yeah, this may be a useless post (uh-oh, here comes 7th!) but just wondered!

also, this may be very old, but still BLOODY cool . I want one!!!!
