in HTF Going Down Hill Post #198376
I don't know about anyone else here, but I use to love the Happy Tree Friends. Keyword there, use to. Lately, I've noticed them fast heading down hill to the Internet graveyard. Granted, anyone in America gets to see them on G4TV at night, but that doesn't excuse the fact that their website is just this site of pathetic.

My main gripe, which I know isn't just a technical, the last few episodes have been setup so that you need Active X to view the new shows. This alienates anyone who desn't use IE. Granted, Windows users could switch over to IE, but we shouldn't have to.

The other problem I just had was that the newest episode didn't even run properly in IE. The animation was running faster then the audio, making the animation unwatchable. This is pathetic for content of this previous quality.

What do the rest of u think about this downward spiral?

In that order...although, I've only had duck I believe once, if at all, and I don't believe I've ever had lamb. Love the other 3 though.

.swf files are actually the better way to go, if you have Flash and know how to use it. You can do more powerful animations and FX, while having a far smaller file size than animated .gifs.

oh, and 2 things regarding ZL's 'entry'.

1) I get nothing when I click on it. Just this:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/adclick.asp, line 29
2) I don't know if you actually bothered to put in any effort, but from what I've seen in my short 9 'n a half months here, we've come to expect a little more from you. I mean, you should have colored the hat too...then it would have been up to par ;).

I overlooked this when I noticed that srry's avatar was displaying as 'Avatar' in plain, old text. However, I just signed back on after a one hour absence (when my avatar was displaying), to find that is no longer the case. All I see is 'Avatar' under my name. in Dog/Strider Wallpaper Post #195937
Thanx for all the praise guys. And ZL, I've got a 17" moniter at 1280x1024 and it looks fine for me. I can see about turning it into a vector map, scaling it up, and then turning it back to a bitmap. That would keep the quality, but at a larger size. I'll see what I could do for the anal, perfectionist out there that like their backgrounds to not have the slightest bit of pixelation ;).

I say that 'cuz w/ the exception of graphic artists, most people don't notice a drop in quality if a picture is scaled 20-30%.

I thought I'd make a thread for this instead of posting in the old ones. I had previously made a wallpaper of D0g vs. a Strider from the video on ign.com, but as mentioned by at least one, and admitted by me, the quality wasn't that great. So, for everyone here, I've created a hi-rez version of the background using the trailer released over Steam. As before, I made a fullscreen (4:3) and a widescreen (16:10*) version. Check the sizes in the thumbnail image**.

  • 16:10 is the aspect ratio for widescreen displays. 16:9 is for TVs.
    • The links are to the image itself, not the php. Also, I made them PNGs to preserve the hi quality.

OK, I got an idea for a map, but the initial tests are showing that this isn't going to be easy. I'd like to create a giant treehouse. For the tree, I'm placing the Oak Tree model in the skybox. Problem is, I can pass through the model, this is easily fixed w/ noclips, but the larger problem is, that I can see through the model, meaning anything on the other side of a branch can bee see w/o going around it.

How can I fix this?

Not really. There were some low priority files (I think, can't remember) that I used for 1.6 mapping, which I stopped a couple of months ago. Also, 2 games, Torus Trooper (just got from GD) and I'm OK (a game from Thompsonsoft that was for the challenge that Jack Thompson coped out off), and some ahem adult content that was from a site that was allegedly closing down, but still hasn't.

Yes they were deleted, and unfortunutly, there is no way of recovering them. ZL gave me a link to PC Inspector File Recovery, and I spent the better part of the day trying to recover them, but w/ negligable success.

See, when I went to take the screen cap of my desktop for the Dektop Thread, I placed all my icons/folders/files in the recycling bin to clean it off. Unfortunutly, when I used the restore all button, not all was restored. I tried a system restore to get the files back, but it didn't work and only raised more questions. It keeped some of the files that had been created after the restore point, and it only recovered the folders and not their contents. I lost files I had created and accumulated, files that were hard to find and took weeks to get. After using the recovery tool ZL told me about, i discovered that 95% of the files were lost or corrupted.

Now I have to spend the next few weeks, dedicated to finding new copies of all those files...some of which I didn't remember the names :zonked: cries.

Not bad. U seem to have access to the higher resolution video, u should get a screen cap of dog verses the strider, when he's jumpin' at it. That would make a bitchin' desktop background.

Edit
Hmm...I was able to get the high rez video. Thought it was an Insider exclusive. Anyway, I made a standard and widescreen version here for everyone. Not the best quality, but best I could do.
