If it's about the size of the bridge in HL2 you hardly need to use that much space.
As for the loading times, i'm pretty sure it will still be less than half-life 2.Depends, if you've got the computer for it Source maps can load within 30 seconds.
Using that amount of space is generally NOT a good idea, especially in HL1.

I've got three Evans brand toms with G2 genera coated heads, a cheap snare (can't remember the brand), and both a ride and two crash cymbals (all three made by Sabian). Aside from that I've got a couple of bongos that I mess about with from time to time, a tambourine, and two maracas.

I googled it, people bind the crouch command to the mouse wheel so they can go up and down really fast and kind of glide across the ground. Seems kinda cheap to me. :
