ok so i'm trying to create my own textures (following several tuts) but when i get to the vtex.exe shortcut part and my material wont show up in my cstrike/materials folder :(
My picture (starting only with one) are .tga and i also added the .txt file.

rap can be intresting in my opinion at times and good to listen to, but there are some really crap songs. Correct me if im wrong but wasn't there like this ueber conflict between JaRule and Eminem/50 cent/ Dr Dre sometime back? the songs they made to diss each other were terrible. just vulger terms mixed together like letter soup. However there are some good rap songs which have good beats and actually tell a story where noone dies :}

make a brush with the trigger texture all over. tie it to the entity trigger_teleport
set an entity info teleport destination where u wanna be teleporter and name it something like "teleportend"
in the trigger_teleport make the remote destination "teleportend" and check the flags for what you want to be teleported

i get this error whenever i run the map. its been there ever since i started the map but i didnt worry much about it. however i want to correct it anyway.
heres an example of the error:

FindPortalSide: Couldn't find a good match for which brush to assign to a portal near (2048.0, 4137.0, -248.0)
Leaf 0 contents: CONTENTS_SOLID
Leaf 1 contents:
viscontents (node 0 contents ^ node 1 contents): CONTENTS_SOLID
This means that none of the brushes in leaf 0 or 1 that touches the portal has CONTENTS_SOLID
Check for a huge brush enclosing the coordinates above that has contents CONTENTS_SOLID
Candidate brush IDs:

this error shows up like 20 times then i get:

** Suppressing further FindPortalSide errors.... **

the thing is the coordinates are in the middle of the void, far away from my map. help please?

i made a nodraw with on side glass then had another brush hug with nodraw everyone except the opposite to the glass, this was concrete. basicly like a concrete and glass wall i described except in two different brushes.

no, i dont even no what that is:/, btw my map isnt a surf map, its my first attempt at a recration of a map i did for a diff game.

UPDATE: i'm gonna try lighting the rooms with glass walls from the inside and putting the outside light sources at places where they dont directly hit the concrete side of the glass walls this afternoon.

what i did yesterday was: took out all light sources except one and put that close to one wall. the concrete wall it was shining on, that glass looked like nodraw. however on the other side of the "room" i had the same except wothout the light. here the concrete outside was not hit by light, and the glass looked fine.

(light)--> C l G-----> G l C <-- (no light)

C is concreteside,
G is glassside,
l is wall

right side glass was ok, left side wasnt

ah kk, well learn everything new everyday.
Btw i took about most of my light sources and then ran up tho the glass with a flashlight. it looked normal :/
so its lighting. ill experiment with different shades of light

hm how would you texture a map that is that big then?

i havnt had time to 100% optimize it. might be poorly made although that is a fast conclusion from just seeing a slope of a 45% finished map :/
i ran it in normal mode, but plz tell me how i could counter this "poorly" made map effect?

well its not breakable. Its just a brush with a glass texture on one side.
the other side of the brush is a concrete texture while the sides/top and bottem are nodraw.
the reason i think it has sometihng to do with lighting is because some glass shows up correclty although its actually the same thing

i was planning on useing displacement on the hills as a last step for the map since im not sure if ill be changing somthing aoround them just yet.

i have a problem that some of my glass looks like a nodraw. Im hammer its glass and ingame its also glass. I mean if you shoot it it shows the same effect as any other glass. You just can't see it. This is only with certain parts of the glass in the map. I'm think it has something to do with my lighting. Is there a certain angle light isnt aloud to hit it with so it actually shows up?

good news i found the problem.

apparently you cant use the displacement tool on func_buttons without getting an error that will stop the compiler from saving all the other changes.

no, i only map for dm atm, and the thing is i save my maps to an external folder, than transfer them to the hl2dm maps folder. so i deleted the version in the maps folder then put in my new one but it still showed the old one '-(

i edit my map, compile and run it in hl2 dm. however it seems to be stuck the way it was 2 days ago! all changes i make are saved in hammer and the file also gets biiger/smaller with my changes but Hl2 dm wont load my new map :.
