I meant the starting area doesn't make sense. I start in a corner in a hallway. Theres a door behind me. If I'm a hostage, then what the hell am I doing starting the game in a hallway?

A better starting area would be in the room with the bed and stuff, as if I were being kept there. Have a shake and explosion break a hole to have me escape and start my adventure.

Think about things more than once. It seems like you went with your first idea here.

Yes, many textures in TF2 are 1028x1028 and are scaled at around .13. Others are .25.

If so, why don't you like it?!

yeah. me and ant have the macbooks, which have (mine, at least) the nvidia 8600GT and intel core 2 Duos.

Keep in mind, we both need the other features on these machines.

laptops are harder to upgrade yourself, but it's not impossible to have a shop do it.

If you just want gaming, just get a desktop.

See I loved CoD2 campaign, and then CoD3's multiplayer was basically the same thing as CoD2 with a bit more thrown in, like vehicles and the class system.

I just liked the look and feel of CoD2's single player. I loved the Russian levels.

NineTnine is a dumbass.

On topic: Strider, you liked CoD3 more? Most people liked 2 more. I liked both just fine. I'm looking farward to 4, although a bit less now that I hear it's short.

But I guess multiplayer is where it's at.

What about editing/mapping? What's the deal with those?

They should have kept Narbocular Drop.
narbAcular drop. i'm glad they didn't keep that, it's a mouthful. Names need to be easy to remember and say. No one is going to forget what Portal is called then they tell their friends about this cool new game that they heard.

Game Developer did an article about Narbacular Drop, it was pretty cool. I had never really looked at the game until then.

It's similar, but much faster. The basic use of displacements is easy, but some more advanced techniques can be learned that you can use to do some really cool things.

in new temple falls map in the making Post #238837
you could save some fps by lowering the number of brushes in non-crucial or unreachable areas. for example, that pyramid in the middle. try making each layer twice the size, halving the number of brushes. it will be less detailed, but unfortunately that is just something you have to deal with if you want to make one large area in this engine. also you could apply the null texture to any face the player cannot see. this doesn't save very much, but it adds up, and every little bit counts if you want to get the framerate down.

the shots don't look too bad, by the way. keep it up!

There's not a single Xbox game which doesn't have a better alternative on PC so dump the xbox and get your broadband.
that's if you can afford i higher end machine, which many people cannot. also many people prefer competitive gaming on consoles. less cheating, and individual performance of people's machines is not a factor. the only factor is the player.

don't be gay, theres nothing wrong with consoles or pc's.

oh yeah and in the first map, you need to clip the window that's above the clock. I went up to where the stupid manhacks come out, jumped on the sexy moving clock (moving backwards?) and up onto that window ledge. From there you can look down through the dodraw roof and into the hallway you just came up. not sexy.

The beginning of the library thing scene caused my framerate to chug a bit, something that didn't even happen in Ep2. Particularly when standing in the entrance and looking forward into the center of the room.

Just thought you might want to know, that's the one time it happened in the mod so far. Havn't finished yet.

the only purpose of this would be two things:

Show off skill, and a group project.

Both can be accomplished better on their own by say, showing off your skill in a theme you choose, or joining a mod or teaming up to make a mini mod.

1 unit difference if you can. it's not going to be too big a deal as far as performance goes, but it will make ugly little black lines. Try it and see what I mean. With that situation it would be more of a graphical thing.
