Its utterly ridiculous, stuff like this. Reminds me of a story!

Story Time

Gather round children, gather round and I'll spin you a tale...
The year is 2000AD or there abouts. We are situated in the lovely country of America. Along comes our main character, a lady in her car, racing to the nearest McDonalds for a bit of sustinence. Into the Drive-Thru she goes and emerges with a wonderfull cup of glorious coffee. She places this coffee on the dashboard and zooms off.

She keeps driving until she is suddenly confronted with a red light! The red light turns its menancing glare towards her car, forcing her to apply the cars breaks. Well at that point the coffee slips right off the dash and into her hands and face sending scalding coffee all over her!!

Eventually she recovers from her horrific burns and takes McDonalds to court, sueing the giant corporation for failing to warn her that the coffee was hot. She recieved $1million.

And that is the end of the story children, run off to bed.

(This story is true.)

Well lets hope there is no WWIII...

Actually I have a question for the Americans here. Over there in America, are there a lot of Aussie stuff? Over here in Australia, we seem to be inundated with the amount of American products, food, fashion, etc. In Extension English (no this is not for idiotic english students, rather the opposite) we are currently doing a topic called 'The American Dream'. It is not quite what you think however as it deals with the way we see America and its grip today on the world.

I read an interesting article in this class which raised interesting issues. One, America holds the highest proportion of its citizens in custody. Two, shes uses 30 percent of the worlds resources despite having less than 5 percent of the world's population.

I will stop here as I could go on forever and possibly make enemies. Who knows where America will go from here?

I don't its quite what he wants. I think he wants to see what you see through the camera when you hit 'Use' on the computer screen without hitting use. Your method would only give a static image. As Seventh said, wait till HL2 (whenever that will be)

What you can do is open the movie in Power DVD on your computer, hit the 'Capture Screen' button (thats a special button) rapidly. This saves a whole heap of images as .bmp files. Then you get a gif animation program (search for one in google), put all the .bmp files in there and it will animate it for you.

in SAME MAX_PATCHES PROBLEM. NEED HELP Post #24455
Some advice:

*Have a plan

*Do a rough sketch on grid paper

*Split the map up into 'parts'. This way you can compile small areas. This makes it easier to target errors and will prevent you from going insane when you compile a massive map thats has leaks and errors all over it.

*Carve is a no-no most of the time. Use Vertex Manipulation, you will love it!

*Be realistic. Half-Life is over 5 years old, so don't try to make a 'super duper, ultra fantastic, mega gigantic death map' because there's no chance that it will work. Work to Half-Life's limits.

*Having said that, theres a lot of things you can do in Half- Life. Be creative. No one wants to see a grey box with a gun and a few million enemies

*Have fun!
I wrote that for Joe_Cool. I'm not critiscing you, just giving some friendly advice. I'll check your map when I get home.

in Too Many Entities in Visible Packet List Post #24352
Tommy:
That means you have too many entities visible/see-able at that time. There are two likely causes for this:
Your not running VIS, or your map has huge ammounts of entities visible at a time.
Solution: run VIS -full, block line-of-sight (aka. vis blocking), combine like entitys in the same room - but only in the same room.
Run VIS and then see.

in title Post #24349
Tommy says:
This can refer to several different errors:

1. The "too many wads" as mentioned above. 8 wads in WC/Hammer is a good limit, more may cause this error among others. If you are using more than 8 wads you can use Wally to combine the extra wads into one custom wad.

2. Too long a path/name for the map or compiling tools. Only a limited amount of memory is set aside for the path/names. Solution is to move the compiling tools or map into a shallow folder.

3. Having a space in a path/name. Examples: frequently Program Files is part of the path name. Compiling tools do not like the space between "program" and "files". Solutions are to either use the MSDOS pathname, or to move the offending files from under the spaced folder, or put quotes " " around the whole path name in WC/Hammer so that windows uses it right. If your map has the space in its name (eg. Bob map), remove the space and change it to (Bobmap).
As for the Half-Life title you have to replace it with an mpeg file and only when you are doing a mod. Any video editing program with titles can do this. Check the tutorial on this site about making mods for some more information.
