Thank you very much Archie, I actually managed to pull something off that looks half-decent thank to your rather informative post. There's just one tiny, little thing that's not really coming together, - and it's the stupidest thing ever - my env_bubbles trigger brush is not invisible, which is really weird and awkward. It's all see-through and orangey ingame.

PS: Thank you for trying, Disco.

Hello. I have a question, and it might be silly, but whatever! Here goes:

Is this possible?

If you can't make out what the image is supposed to represent, it is essentially a tunnel, with see-through parts, under water.

Follow-up question: How do I do it?

Thank you. :]

So would Grand Theft Auto. Sandbox games are generally a very bad idea.

So, I'm playing the new Deus Ex - but I think I might be doing it wrong, I somehow ended up [super-mild spoiler follow here] wiping out the entire police station. [spoiler ends here] I'm gonna start over.

As for Mirror'S Edge, it's probably the best game to come out of Scandinavia, followed by Hitman (Codename 47 and Bloody Money) and Battlefield 2.

Alyx doesn't look very black imo.
Probably to appeal to a larger audience.

Just saying.

I'd love a Quake 2ish scenario. That'd make me fall in love with the game for real once again.
Quite so. The Combine and the Strogg aren't that different after all. For instance, they are both into assimilating humans.

Hating on Christianity is completely acceptable, just as showing dislike towards any other undemocratic way of life. [/sarcasm]
Islam is not an "undemocratic way of life". It's a religion. Just as it is with Christians, Buddhists, Jews etc., Muslims can be democratic or antidemocratic. Saying Islam is an "undemocratic way of life" is like saying Christianity is homophobic. True, there are many Christian idiots who hate gays. But there are also many tolerant Christians that let other people live the way they want.
Islam is most undemocratic as it does not favour equality (or even free will to some extent), which in my opinion is part of the foundation for a democratic society. This goes of course for any religion, but Islam seemed to pop up here and there in this thread. In any way, my point was that it is pure stupidity to base hatred on skin or birthplace. This riot has nothing to do with it either, it is just greedy leeches trashing their own home.

Humanity should go back to swords.
Funny you should say that. By old Swedish law you are allowed to carry a broadsword for defence purposes.

1) There's no purpose in life.
2) There's no God, or other almighty being, that created the heavens and the earth.
2.5) If there was, and the [Christian] Bible is true, then Lucifer is our true saviour for he released us from our cage [Eden] and gave us thought.
3) Time is relevant.
4) No Earthling has ever come in contact with an intelligent organism from another planet, and most likely a human never will.
5) Teleportation would be the same as cloning, except with part A being erased for the benefit of part B.

But that's just what I think.

Ah, yes. I bought it second hand. Can't say I was expecting much given the price, but it quickly turned into my favourite lens.

Now, in my non-existent camera bag, I have the 80-200 from Sunactinon, a 35mm/1.8 Nikkor and a 24-80 Nikkor. These are joined by a bunch of filters and, of course, the macro tubes. I also recently got my hands on a flash; Yongnuo YN560-II. Haven't tested it out yet as my camera's away on cleaning, but I've heard good things.

Now, here's a distraction while I disappear for another 6 months.

Why, thank you. :D

I use a Nikon D90, and most of these shots were shot with a 80-200 lens by Sunactinon, which I bought for roughly 30 Americans (A steal really). Though, of course, I have used a macro extension tube for the macro shots.

Has anyone here tried shooting the moon and then afterwards increase the fill light to 100% (if you shoot RAW that is)? The results are quite exquisite.

in Mapping for Half-Life: Source Post #286869
Hey.

Thanks for the help, but I'm afraid there's some miscommunication going on in this thread. I'm aware of what the SDK is, I've actually used it before, but it just never felt right. Anyway, back to z? point. When starting up the SDK you get a choice of which Source version and which game to 'mod'. That's where the problem occurs, as there's no option for Half-Life: Source. Which is troublesome as I've seen a few dozens of maps made just for HLS over at FPSB.

Naturally I figured that I could just use the Half-Life 2: Deathmatch setup, as they are both just as outdated. But HL2DM doesn't even work with Hammer for some reason. It just tells me that something is corrupt and then shuts down. Beautiful.

Well, maybe I should just stick with Goldsrc for a while longer, and then maybe take the extreme leap to modern Source. Thanks anyway.

in Mapping for Half-Life: Source Post #286837
So, hello people.

I've been meaning to move up to the Source engine for many years aaaand I figured that the time has come. But, I don't want to 'go all the way' yet, so going with Half-Life: Source seems sensible. However, I have no idea how to set it up with Hammer. Anyone have any experience with this and could help me?

Thanks.
