Terry Pratchett. He wrote a very popular series of books on a place called the Discworld. I haven't read them myself, but I remember the animated series they made from it and I know the books are pretty well-loved.

Those of you who are unaware of Pratchett's brilliance are clearly american.

I've heard of Pratchett before, but I generally don't read novels. So I can't say I'm familiar with any of his work

His novels are the only ones I have ever and will ever read. Also the games are indeed awesome.

Clearly.

How is it possible to get through life without reading any other novels than his? I mean, how did you even manage to get through high school?

Can't say I've heard of him before. And to the people who're shunning the people who haven't heard of him: shut up. I could say the same about Garth Nix, and I doubt many people here have heard of him, and I know that not everyone would like his work. There are people who don't like certain genres of books, so stop being such idiots.

Sometimes I forget how retarded I am for being born on a different land mass than you. Amazing what that can do to human intelligence. How does it feel to be superior?

I think Hunter only said that because the author isn't well known in America, and I guess he is in other parts of the world. I don't think there was an underlying message that we're all stupid or something. And, actually, everybody who hadn't heard of him (except Penguinboy) WAS American. ;)

Yeah. Im with the rest of the Americans. Never heard of him.
I'll have to check out the Discworld series tho.

The Discworld.

I've read The Colour of Magic and like part 19 in the series, I forget the name. One in English, one in Swedish. Enjoyed them thoroughly.

I've never heard of him.

But then, there are tons of famous writers that I've never heard of.
