Not a bug, but a suggestion:
the quote bb looks horrible. The margin is too big, the border is ugly (dashed and ulgy colour), same background as background. I'd make it look more like old-TWHL quote boxes.
Posted 16 years ago2008-03-10 21:16:12 UTC Post #247527
I'm in partial agreement with this. The dashes look kind of neat, but the colours.. I think it needs a background. Oh, and far less of a gap around the actual quotes.

Definitely need a background. But if you changed the background, you might need to change the dashes, too.

And journal comments need BBcode too.
Posted 16 years ago2008-03-11 04:16:10 UTC Post #247537
they have bbcode, just no quotes or images. you can use url(=), b, i, u and s.

I think quoting should be allowed, to point out particular things in the journal post... But images would be overdoing it. Only problem I see with allowing quotes is that the comments may start to turn into a mini-discussion, and you probably want to avoid that.

I gotta say though, it starts to get pretty confusing when you have different allowed codes for the forums, map comments, journal comments, shoutbox, etc. with all these new methods of posting stuff, it starts to become convoluted.

And on a completely different subject here, we don't actually appear to be on that Half-Life Top 200 list at all, despite the link being there. What's up with that? :\

Why is that a problem? Any journal post can spawn some sort of discussion, provided you can comment on it. If you want to avoid that, you'll have to scrap comments entirely. :\
Imo, all comments/posts/etc. should have an equal ammount of BBcode enabled (all of it). Sure, some jackass might get the idea that image spam in a journal comment is cool, but hell, there will always be idiots. You'd have to disable IMG tags everywhere to completely avoid that.

Also, you should be able to edit your last journal comment. A journal comment counter next to the others in your profile would be good too. ;>

.. and are you going to enable comments for News Posts?

ok:

removing the top 100 thing has been on the list for ages, just never got around to it.

universal bbcode is hard with the currently styling. ant'll have to write CSS for quotes in comments, etc. but theres no way i'm putting images in comments.

you CAN edit your last journal post......right?

comments for news and for MOTM reviews is coming. i have no time to code because uni is piling on the assignments.

journal counts are recorded, but nothing will be added until the profile update which will come soon-ish. i have to code the admin panel first, when i get time.

until i do that (tomorrow).
I can see that. Not :P. No admin thingies yet. You should fix this asap, as people still double/triple post, post duplicate maps, and stuff. Plus, i need to edit my Compilator thread.

Hmm, been noticing this for a few weeks now. Shouts aren't being added to the total count in your profile.

Maybe it's just a special case for me, but they aren't.

:D Um...i have a bug to report and here it is. ( I don't know if this was reported earlier but again here it is)

in the
'edit map" and "submit a map" pages the extra notes are on top and the part where you put the info for your map (like screenie,mapname,etc.) is on the bottom part of the page :ciggie:

IE6. Upgrade to IE7 or deal with it. Ant can't do any stylesheets at the moment.

I'm not sure if this is an opera specific bug, but ":)'s" trail over the shoutbox even after a refresh.

I'm also not sure if this classifies as the "shoutbox looks messy" problem either, because I've never seen problems with it before.

looks fine in firefox.
try that or shiver IE and see if it works.

I love my opera, heh.

I dont care about firefox in the least bit, and therefore I can gladly put up with some dumb :)'s

To even mention IE sickens me,

As aptly put in Ant's new site he's whipping up:

but if you want to really know if it's opera specific or a site bug, you should at least test it in IE...

There's this bug with the shoutbox where when you type in a message for the second time in a row (not refreshing / changing the page at all after the first shout), the "Type Here" text doesn't disappear when clicked, and you can't even highlight it to delete it.

And shouts still don't accumulate in profile pages, unless there's a new method to tallying them up at certain times, or something.
Luke LukeLuke
Posted 16 years ago2008-05-14 18:16:21 UTC Post #249968
yeah, i know about the 'type here' problem, for now, fix it by clicking on the grey part outside the site and click back in the box. i'll fix it later.
and shout numbers aren't high on the priority list.

When clicking an image in a tutorial, a window pops up containing the image you just clicked.
The window is supposed to resize itself, but whoever did the scripting is probably still using IE4.
You can no longer write document.<insert element id here>.
It doesn't work with all browsers.
Instead, use document.getElementById.

function reSizeToImage(){
window.resizeTo(100,100);
width=document.image.width+40;
height=document.image.height+110;
window.resizeTo(width,height);
document.title = "TWHL View Image";}

Should be

function reSizeToImage() {
var im = document.getElementById("image");
window.resizeTo(im.width + 40, im.height + 110);
document.title="TWHL View Image";
}

Apparently, journals made before the arrival of TWHL3 can't be deleted.
There seems to be a problem with what you are trying to do.

The specific problem is: Journal not found.
Posted 16 years ago2008-06-15 08:56:55 UTC Post #251265
You can't seem to delete PM's! When i click the [D] (D for Delete?) link i get a message saying:
There seems to be a problem with what you are trying to do.

The specific problem is: You cannot archive this message.

Do not click back on your browser. Click here instead.
I don't to archive that particular PM, i want to delete it.

The same message appears when i click the [A] link, which is probably the Archive link. I don't see why you can't archive PM's anyway.

This should be fixed a.s.a.p. cuz im expecting some PM's.

PM Subject Glitch
Not really a "glitch", but if you compose a PM without a subject and try to send, you lose the whole thing?!

Maybe u could put a "<no subject>" thingie in the subject box, so if you forget to specify a subject, you won't lose your novella you carefully wrote to your TWHL friend! (apologize if it's been mentioned)

It's not that hard to code that, is it? And it's much more user-friendly.
Just admit that you're too lazy to do it.
You must consider all possibilities while programming, and make it so, that everything works fine in the end. That's common sense, isn't it? And if someone points out a small mistake, you should correct it, not say how one should avoid it.
