I may enter the next one. I feel sassy again about my mappering skills. Plus i have a good portion of the 6D demo done so I may have bought some time.

Hope the theme is a good one. More fun than challenging like the one we just had.

!!!HELP!!! All 3 of my rmf. files to my maps for the competition are missing from my computer. I was working on the third one and play tested it and a vehicle in the map was missing. I think I just erased it on accident or something so I tried to open up my back up file of the map but it wasn't there. Than I tried to re open my rmf. I was working on and its gone! I have the bsp.s but the rmf.s aren't there. All three of my rmf.s. Ive spent sooo long on my entry does anyone know what could have happened, my computers new and I don't have a conection to the net right now. My rmf. destination in hammer is my valve folder but the rmf.s aren't there or anywhere. For some reason I remember seeing them in a sound folder for a second but I checked every sound folder on my computer.

Did you try using search and typing in the map name?
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-17 16:53:28 UTC Post #248889
Everyone knows that doesn't work, no but thank God I just found them burried in some weird file on my crowded desktop! ->Back to mapping. :plastered:
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-17 16:57:45 UTC Post #248890
Why would searching for the map not work? It's probably the best way to find anything on your computer.

I agree with Penguinboy. It's easiest way for finding something on your computer. If there is a file with that name and extension on your computer "search" will find it.
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-17 20:19:23 UTC Post #248893
Oh, well if I knew that I wouldn't have freaked out when I couldn't find them. Search usually doesn't work for me, maybe it was just my old crappy computer.

Penguinboy and Ant, is it ok if I turn my enrty in a little bit later today. Im done with everything but im just adding ambience and getting it into mod format and everything like that. Than I have to transfer it to comp. with net. and find a place to host. It wouldn't be but at most a few hours after due time.
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-18 19:43:11 UTC Post #248916
i've extended the compo 8 days because so many people need it, but this is the last extension, and no late entries outside of this will be accepted. i'm extending only because the judging will take ages anyway (both judges are uni students with piles of assignments to do).

I don't have steam halflife so will my mod's splash screen and everything work? Or can yall just test it with plain halflife?
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-23 01:53:46 UTC Post #249079
steam only. but who cares about a splash screen :/
Penguinboy PenguinboyHaha, I died again!
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-23 21:26:39 UTC Post #249124
SOme people just make splash screens just to make their entry beautiful. What's wrong with that?
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-23 22:18:52 UTC Post #249126
Nothing, but a map/mod that's going to actually work properly in Steam is more important to judges then a splash screen.

Will my mod work properly in steam if I don't have steam and did not make it with it?
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-25 12:20:16 UTC Post #249157
I was hoping for an extent, now I can finish up.

Z: Yes, as long as it is the latest version of Half-life prior to Steam.

Can someone help me host my mod somewhere? I tried to buy some webspace but its kinda confusing. My mod compressed is 43.7 MB's. I have to go to work at 1:00 today so I have to submit it soon. I made a website at http://mchumchal.freewebsitehosting.com/ but how the heck do I host a file on it that people can download?
Posted 16 years ago2008-04-26 07:41:07 UTC Post #249186
if you have a gmail address you can go on google pages, it has 100mb of storage space.

I cut it close, but my updated version didn't make it in time.

But it's located here if anyone or a judge wants it.

Ant and Penguinboy, im not sure if the way I hosted my mod will work. If it doesn't, here is a link that should. I wish someone would have told me about filefront when I was searching for a place to host. I just found out about it from imus's entry. http://hosted.filefront.com/mchumchal/

I was at work so it was too late. In my thread I said I needed help fast because I had to go to work in an hour. Your post was more than an hour after I posted the thread. Thanks for the help though anyway.

I already said that no late entries would be accepted. You guys had almost 8 weeks to do this and you link it only hours after it ends? Sorry, but rules are rules, and if you are dumb enough to risk leaving it to the last minute, then too bad for you.
zeeba: your hosting works.

I disagree potatis...

A deadline is a deadline, and i never expected or asked for mine to be received late, i just wanted to put it out there for the lulz and to show participation, if only partially.

Nice map Captain Terror. It has many details and good brushwork and texturing.
The tank scared me a little :D
When you jump down into the hole in the middle of the map, you can't get up, so a teleport or something would be good.

Thanks Potatis!

I'm still updating it, and I'll put it in the vault when I think it's ready.
;)

A NOTE TO THOSE SUFFERING MAX CLIPNODES ERROR: Compiling with cliptype "simple" gives you quite a bit of leeway to go over the "normal" clipnodes limit. If redsigning/altering your map to reduce you clipnodes is not an option, try it! (my clipnode use was at 150%, but cliptype "simple" brought it down to a compilable 99.5% lawl.

Captain your entry was awesome. If they do accept it, competition will be really close. It felt like I was walking around in the actual game. Better textures definetly would have helped you a lot though. And move that green ring around your base down a unit so that it isn't seen through the crystal dish.

So how many people did a Source Entry?

Unfortunately I no longer have HL so I can't try out some your maps like rimrooks or zeeba's.:9
