pre-built machines are always enormously overpriced. that's why I always recommend that people build their own computer instead of wasting their money on one that's already built.

They're only overpriced when you're talking about high end systems though. For instance, you could never build an economy system that would match the specs of the lowest end Dell and still save money. It'd actually be several hundred more.

I think srry is on to something. My PC is a HP Pavilion a1730n, see the complete specs here: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/12132708-12133156-12133158-12133158-12133158-12932758-78159005.html

And you know what, I only paid $499.00 for it almost 2 years ago. It's the mid and high end gaming rigs where they get you.

It's the only reason why we gamers have computers, right?

Anyway, I installed HL2 on my new rig, and it plays so smoothly, I felt like I was playing an old classic game like Quake 2. The framerates are ridiculously high, even with everything maxed out.

That's why staying in school and getting a good education is important. It really pays off.

I spent 11 years studying after high school, and I studied my butt off.

Now I make $12,500 a month.
