It's that time of year again!

It's everyone's favourite electronic entertainment expo, E3!

Last year's E3 was very disappointing, but I have high hopes for E3 this year. I thought we should keep any discussion of it in the one thread.

What I hope we'll get:
  • Golden Sun 3 for the DS
  • Valve announce Ep3 for this year
What we'll actually get:
  • Wii fit 2, 3, and 4
  • Ubisoft releases 200 more "petz" games
  • Nintendo's conference sucks ass, again.
Anyway, E3. Are you excited?

Valve announce Ep3 for this year
My bet's on early next year, but we'll get info and a nice juicy trailer.

What I want:
  • New Zelda in the same style as Wind Waker
  • Beyond Good & Evil 2 details, full-length trailer
  • Anything on Uncharted 2

I keep hearing about Microsoft not mentioning anything concrete about their in house Xbox360 stuff so far. Speculation by some people is that they don't have much to show this year, while others are saying that the big M is just saving the best for last with a barrage of last minute shockers.

As for Nintendo, they don't seem to concerned with E3, and with good reason, they don't need to, they already have this console generation in their back pocket so to speak.

As for Sony, the one thing above anything else that people are going to be looking from them to say, is a nice price drop on the PS3, it's either that or keep loosing market share.

Ill want mass effect 2 as well. The first would've been great if the planet exploration wasn't so douchy, and if the fighting system had a little bit more feel to it. With all of the reviews which said just that, surely they will fix it.

There's also Assassins Creed 2. They havn't released any game footage yet, so im excited. Maybe there will be more to do in between missions, heh. I have read that the main guy can swim now, so that's cool.

I do also want BG&E2, SC2, more stuff on Diablo 3, a new zelda, golden sun three (I never heard anything about it), and to a much lesser extent Lost Planet 2.

Its almost time for another Splinter Cell too.. by the good ubisoft team that makes them and not the people that did Double Agent. Its the CT people.

Flashpoint 2, Ep3 and Diablo 3. Need mention anything else?

Besides, I heard E3 had gone to the dogs now and is not as great as it used to be.

So... The first one was called predictable game sequel? But then what was it sequel to?

Or it was just called 'Predictable Game' and 'Sequel 3' is actually the fourth in the series.

E3 used to be exciting, but the corporate world dumbed down the conference.

It's just a bunch of businessmen in boring suits now.

As I said, they've turned it back into something exciting. Not the 70,000+ people from a few years ago, but there'll be at least 40,000.

I might be wrong on this, but wasn't E3 opened to the public years ago? Apparently it is currently only opened to those who meet the following 2 things: Be connected with the gaming industry and be on the invitation list.

Well I suppose the big news so far is that Valve have announced Left 4 Dead 2, for November release.

Press release here:
http://store.steampowered.com/news/2552/

Personally I think that this is all well and good if it doesn't split up the player base - i.e. L4D2 players can play with L4D1 players on the original campaigns. If it splits the player base, I will be disappointed.

Of course, I'll still be buying it :P

Agreed. It looks like a joke atm. Clothes that make them look likes clowns and a character that looks like Uncle Phil.

I'm looking forward to many games such as AC2 etc but Monster Hunter TRI coming to Europe or Zone of the Enders 3 are my top 2.

I dont know too much about the PSP games, but I do know that the biggest thing on the PSP camp, is the news of the new and smaller PSP. Sony it's calling it the "PSP Go".

A video was just leaked to YouTube showing first hand what this PSP Go is really all about. It kind of resembles now like one of those sliding smart cell phones, but only in looks. The video starts out a bit corny but it does show the new PSP Go in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJfZ6TjU1WQ

I've got to admit that my favourite conference was the Nintendo, not for the games obviously but just for the reactions on Gamespot. When that woman was talking about that clothes shop game and Nintendo was spouting off about their sales figures and so on pretty much so every comment was a "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" and "Nintendo hates us" and then a new metroid game is anoounced and suddenly everything is forgiven.
Posted 14 years ago2009-06-02 16:14:06 UTC Post #267836
Nintendo was the best because of Golden Sun <3
I find it funny that everyone's trying to do motion sensing now - Nintendo has the motion plus, MS have that camera thingie, and Sony have this glowstick thing.
Sony's conference was mostly about games, and Microsoft's was mostly about Xbox live and movie services. Both had major time contributing toward their "Nintendo catch-up" motion control hardware.
Nintendo's was mostly about Golden Sun. I don't remember anything else about it.

Sony has a motion sensing thing too that they demoed. But nothing this generation will be a "Wii-killer", because the Wii targets a completely different audience.

That's totally wrong.

Here's from the E3 official site:
E3 Expo 2009 Attendee Registration

Welcome to Attendee Registration. Please note that E3 Expo is a trade-only event and is not open to the general public. Individuals who are not able to document their direct, and current professional affiliation to the interactive entertainment industry are not qualified to attend. If you are from the retail sector, you must be selected by your parent company to attend.
I live in LA, and I cannot attend because I am not a developer.

No, we won't be seeing Goldeneye on Xbox anything. Nintendo owns half of the game. And Rare owns the other half, so Virtual Console probably won't see Goldeneye either... Shame, huh?

Well, let's consider Rare is now part of the Microsoft community, and such as, HAS release two of their own N64 games to 360 Arcade. Banjo-Kazooie, and Banjo-Tooie. In such a way it is possible to happen, and therefore, though unlikely, is more likely than you'd think.
Posted 14 years ago2009-06-03 23:17:32 UTC Post #267910
Rare doesn't own the rights to publish a James Bond game (even a port), Activision does. There's some licensing issues that stops Goldeneye appearing on either XBL or Wii VC. Multiple companies would need to co-operate.

One Rare N64 game I really would love to see they bring to XBL is Killer Instinct Gold, one of my all time favorite old school style fighting games! It might not have gotten the fame and glory that the Mortal Kombat series received, but it sure as hell was a whole lot more fun to play with.

I want to see Battletoads and Faxanadu on the VC, simply because I used to play them on the NES all the time when I was younger. As far as I can tell, they're not too widely known (Faxanadu at least).
