Yeah, they're redesigning.
And I'm donating a map full of small areas.
EDIT: Hey, hotdog, how long is the topside wire thing on top of the tram? I'm gonna make a piece with a change from bottom to top rail.

Exploiting school bandwith: Priceless
As long as you don't get caught by the librarian who thinks that pages full of text are a game, that is. And yet other people get away with watching violent youtube videos and pr0n.
What exactly did you get caught doing?
Either uploading it, or
watching violent youtube videos and pr0n.

As long as you don't get caught by the librarian who thinks that pages full of text are a game, that is.
Also, an interactive high resolution scrollable image taken by the Hubble telescope is DEFINITELY a game, and is distracting to school work. Especially school work that deals with space.

Oh the stupid things I get in trouble for.

I never get in trouble for the big stuff. They never know. Yet I always get it for the small stuff. Ironic.

Also, getting in trouble in school for doing schoolwork always causes lulz. Especially when you try arguing this fact with the teacher.

...Why are you using the LAW and the RPG?
You could just use the LAW as the RPG and save coding AND file space.
Also, if in the final release, a weapon from HL is not used, remove the models for it and let HL use the default ones. Only cheaters will notice. :)
A single weapon for every function. Pistol, 357, AR, Shotgun, melee, Sniper, Heavy weapon (gluon in HL, SAW in Op4), grenades, ect.
You don't need 5 heavy weapons, 2 RPG's and 18000 pistols. (I know, exageration on the pistols)
Notewell NotewellGIASFELFEBREHBER
Posted 15 years ago2009-07-30 09:54:50 UTC Post #271199
Actually. The RPG and LAW while mostly similar, they have their own advantages. The RPG has homing abilities (ie, the laser pointer) the LAW does not. The LAW is MUCH more destructive but a 'fire and forget' weapon (you fire and discard the weapon as it's useless)

ATM we only have a few new weapons planned. Like an Uzi, heavy machine gun, and a few others like the photon gun, ect.
Posted 15 years ago2009-08-02 08:20:39 UTC Post #271201
So, RPG is classic HL, and the LAW is one-use rocket satchel?
Still, I think you could just change the RPG code a tad. Your mod, though.
Also, why the Uzi, just out of curiosity? And how many Op4 monsters?
EDIT: Are the maps I sent you working well?

Oh yes...sorr. I've been away for the weekend and only just got home. The maps are great thankyou. As for the Uzi, it's just something different. Barniel also uses an uzi instead of a glock.

Anyway, the Demo is all packaged but VS is unable to upload it and I can't so until he finds a way to it will have to be put on hold. But to keep the thread alive and let you know we are still working, well, I am seeing as it's really mapping thats left to do, i will post some screenies :D please give some feedback as things to change, thoughts, ect,

Looking great, but the ceilling looks too flat. Add some relief and fill it up with vents or supports, maybe some pipes. It'll look much more interesting that way. :)
Posted 15 years ago2009-08-30 16:15:52 UTC Post #272724
Yeah, break up that black structural texture a little.

Also, the step from the concrete area onto the tiles looks very tall. 16 units I believe?

With regards to scale to character models, that step would be half the height of a man's shin. It makes for a serious trip / fall hazard and would hinder the movement of both disabled personnel and wheelers which they would use to move heavy objects and other deliveries to the sector.

Posted 15 years ago2009-08-30 16:35:54 UTC Post #272725
Yeah 16 is very high. I like my steps of 8, maybe 12 in extreme cases. Stairs made of 16 units high steps look somewhat disproportioned.
Posted 15 years ago2009-08-30 16:42:38 UTC Post #272726
Just add another 8 unit high step next to the 16 unit one and it'll look fine. I try not to get too caught up on annoying details like step height though, because in the end, absolute architectural realism in Goldsource is a losing battle. Besides, 80% of the players won't even notice stuff like that, and the rest won't care enough to make a difference.

Also, since there are disabled personnell in Black Mesa, areas with them would have wheelchair elevators or ramps.

Haha, well, we shall see about that, mind that would be a fun game. Play a guy in a wheelchair. Anyway, back on topic. I have found a much more effective method for me to map. The main reason I take a long time to finish a map is because my mind wanders to other things and i want to build them before I forget. So I resorted to building individual rooms and joining them at a later date. Here is the latest one, whipped up in a few hours:

The mod looks awesome, I'd love to help out, just need to get a little bit better at mapping, only 1 more month of year 12 left, then i'll have heaps of time on my hands. I'm from Australia too.

Still not liking the surrounding step though. Don't NPCs 'bounce' up / down it?

I'd like to volunteer for it, but I don't have a scanner or know anyone that does. And it's likely that taking a photo of it just wouldn't do it justice...
