you, sitting in front of your computer for 30 minutes searching for that image to post it here.
No, because I don't have mental disabilities and have something called memory. I recalled that picture which I found fitting and added it within a minute of even remotely thinking about it, otherwise it would have taken a bare minimum of 20 seconds to type out text that could substitute for it.
Try harder.

And the game is Splinter Cell: Conviction.

^ Poor Ant, or maybe he has finally upgraded?

Anyways, I just finished Dragon Age 2. It's a pretty good game, better than the first but it still has some glaring issues. The most obvious and annoying is the fact that the whole game takes place in 4-5 different areas, with every cave or dungeon being copy-pasted ad infinitum. It feels very small in scope.

On the plus side, combat is vastly improved.

7/10

Next game on the list is Crysis 2. So far it's pretty fun, but the complete lack of graphical customization sucks ass. It reeks of console port :/
Posted 13 years ago2011-03-27 13:34:22 UTC Post #292515
I don't think Crysis 2 is a port really, it's just a game that has been designed across all three platforms with consoles in mind. I will admit though that Crytek have made a number of poor decisions regarding graphics options, mouse acceleration and all-round disregard for elitist PC faggots who demand DX11 because it's going to make everything ~amazing.

All I know know is I'm enjoying the shit out of it atm. Single player is fairly true to Crysis and Warhead, which is surprising given the dramatic change in environment. Online is just mindless fun, good to just jump in and enjoy for half an hour or so.

Something about the game is just really satisfying...

edit: for graphics options, take a look at this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1807934

Yeah I know it's possible to change the graphics but it should have those options already, like every other shooter made since 1990 :P

My computer can handle it pretty well, unless there's a truckload of things exploding or whatnot. I'd just rather turn down the graphics a bit to gain a few fps. All that extra fluff really isn't that important to me.

Gameplay-wise I have no complaints so far; the power-stealth-armor mechanic is cool, and the sounds are awesome.

Why do all your screenshots look slightly out of focus, Crollo? It's like anti-aliasing, but wrong. And yet your HL2 shots don't seem to have any anti-aliasing at all.

I took the blurry screenshots through fraps, I don't know why they ended up so damned blurry, but KF and HL2 had the screenshots taken direct from the engine command.

Posted 12 years ago2011-04-24 05:11:48 UTC Post #293252
No he's referring to the non HL2 screenshots where there is little definition, like anti aliasing only... Used in a bad way.

Also, blame ati for the lack of AA in the HL2 screenshots, I would have set some at the time but AMD can't be bothered to code some proper drivers for vista so I get stuck with windows defaults. I could buy a new graphics card but you see, I'd have to rebuild an entirely new machine to do that.

Also, going back to something like the second page with Ant: I could not disagree with you more.
I've picked up GTA IV about a month ago or so, and I just cannot put it down. Bloody great game, I cannot see where you are coming from with the driving physics because while it may be a bit quirky at times, it definately is far superior to any other sandbox styled game I'd played [Burnout specifically, or the entire GTA series as a whole], the movement while slow if you want to walk, is jotted into three segments, so I really don't see how you can complain about being too slow or too fast. AI? I don't find the AI to be the best in the world, but man euphoria has worked it's magic, always fun to shove people around and watch them try to grab onto a wall or ledge to catch themselves, or having one grab the door handle of your car and then driving off, leaving them dangling until you smash them through a wall, and of course it's always fun to just randomly run into someone, knocking them right on their ass and then shoving them over the edge of a railing.

Can't post much for screenshots because the easycap is best for video and not still shots, but I do plan to get some more videos up sometime soon.

Playing the new New Vegas DLC - Honest Hearts.

Its enthralling story hooked me instantly, and visually it's definitely a step up from New Vegas. Shame some of the characters seem pretty poorly voiced - a disaster when you consider how brilliant the voice acting was in the main game.

Also, one small thing that had always ripped my hair out for me, was rockstar's [interpretation of] lightbars.
God damn they're bad, rockstar has gone so far with their lighting engine, just to shunt it with the absolutely horrific excuse of emergency lighting. I mean, the headlights are spot on, the brake lights are great, every single light on every car looks absolutely great except for the bloody emergency lighting systems!

They even included LED lightbars! But you can't just stick a sprite on a LED lightbar that fades in and out, that's not even remotely close to how a lightbar works! Aaaaaargh.
User posted image
I mean seriously, the community for SAN ANDREAS made a functional LED lightbar, it wasn't pretty but it functioned exactly like a real lightbar, and APB had a great ELM system as well, too bad that game was butchered by greed.

Modern Warfare 2. It's exactly what I expected. Played it briefly on a mate's xbox when it was released and wasn't especially impressed. Figured I must be missing something considering it's more popular than breathing, so I bought it when it was half price on Steam yesterday.

It's rubbish. Seriously, painfully rubbish. I'm about 8 'missions' into the campaign so far, and every single one has been EXACTLY the same.
Advance, wave of enemies, advance, wave of enemies, advance, wave of enemies, ad infinitum...
The levels are uninspiring and generic looking. The best one was the second mission where you infiltrate a snowy base, and I couldn't see most of it due to a snow storm, so make of that what you will.

Autosaves are so regular that the devs feel they can get away with pulling bullshit un-winnable ambushes, because they know you'll just reload and play the moment again, but this time expecting it and therefore overcoming it.

Not even an angry Scottish captain is enough to redeem this utterly bland piece of over-hyped, instantly forgettable trash.

And the multiplayer is just CoD4 again.

Sure is a difference between HL1 and HL2 compared to MW1 and MW2.

I totally agree with your comparisons to CoD2, and it amazes me that the series hasn't really evolved from there.
I really enjoyed Modern Warfare 1, but only because the characters and suspense were absolutely pin sharp right from the word "go".
You can't do the exact same thing again in MW2 and expect it to have the same effect. And it's not even as good as MW1. The writing is rubbish and the characters are drab and uninspiring.
The plot twists are pedestrian and predictable and by the time someone nukes space I had just about fallen asleep from the cookie-cutter combat.

I've been playing Amnesia lately.

Gotta say, it's pretty intense to sit in the dark and hear shuffling footsteps directly behind me, all while knowing that it's dangerous to turn around and hoping that it just keeps on walking.
Don't even get me started on the water.

The darkness is surprisingly safe, though. The effects on your sanity are virtually negligible.

I play Heroes of Newerth. It's just a DotA clone. It's a pretty decent game, being completely stolen from DotA, but it has some network issues. The features they implemented really make it a worth while transition from DotA, such as stat tracking, reconnection capabilities, rebindable keys, and not nearly as many leavers. It's definitely worth the 30 dollars it costs, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went free to play after DOTA2 is released.

Metal Gear Solid, the PS1 / PC game is undoubtedly one of the best games of all time. Shame about the sequels. (although I never played MGS3)
In terms of story, suspense and character drama it was years ahead of its time, and despite a few irritating boss fights, the gameplay was pretty good too. Had a lot of fun concepts.
One of the few games I would recommend you play with a gamepad rather than a keyboard and mouse, though.

I must disagree, MGS2 was absolutely amazing. I wasn't crazy about MGS3 but MGS4 was pretty nice. Peace Walker for the PSP has been pretty damn fun so far. I'm eagerly awaiting the MGS2&3 HD pack (which also has Peace Walker on the console)

Same, even if I already own all the PS games. I just want to play Peace Walker.

Started playing through Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines a week or two ago, and despite being a bit incomplete and glitchy, it's a fantastic Immersive Sim/FPS-RPG, along the lines of Deus Ex or System Shock 2. The writing, plot and voice acting are (generally) awesome, it definitely has some of the most unique and deep characters I've seen from the genre.

Download the latest fan patch. They fix a lot of things that the developers neglected.

I mainly liked MGS2 because it was the most like MGS1. I prefer my radar and basic sneaking to the jungle shenanigans or the magic octocamo in MGS4.
