A lot of mappers say 'don't carve cylinders'. Then how do i make archway the right way? I made half-cylinder with arch tool, then edited it with vertex manipulation tool, got little bit more wpolys than with carving the archway.

Carve sucks. Use clipping tool and utilize shift x. Than alt p. If a new error has occured hit ctrl z and try something else.

And yea arc tool should be your best option for an arch. Than clip/ cut it and/or vertex manipulate it.

You should use this. It's probably possible to carve cylinders and keep everything on grid and free of errors, but not likely at all.

I had this problem, It tales some clever vertex manipulation to do, I might make a tutorial if I finish my weapons one first.

Not that difficult, just clip or VM some blocks around a cylinder.

Lol? I'm looking at your methods they all suck. Cmon there's an actual tool for this. All you need to do is use the arch tool, set the value to 180o circle, make it so that there is a round gap in the middle and the round sides on the outside of it, then use the vertex tool to make the arch however you want it.

I was looking on snarkpit for an article about terrain. I remember finding this. Welcome. http://www.snarkpit.net/snarkpower/articles/game/cat/pn/tp/7/Arches
