I think there's a video on YouTube somewhere (because I totally don't know where) wherein at some point is me saying "I'm not stupid" and then immediately afterwards accidentally jumping into the water.

Good videos, wish I could get in on that jazz :glad:

That game does look interesting, but I haven't played that type of game since SimCity 2000, and at the time at least, I couldn't get into it for very long.

I might get it if it goes on sale for cheap...and what I think is a single install limit only means one computer at a time (limited installs tend to be deal breakers with me)...and I get a comp that can run it without the houses looking like potatoes.

Is pumping the shit into a river the only sewage option? No treatment plants or anything? Hell, the tiny village where I live has a treatment facility. :P

So what are the main ways this differs from, say, SimCity? I'm intrigued.

I look at these screenshots and think everything is too shiny, too colourful, the colours are too saturated and it's so lifeless. It doesn't have the same quality at asset design as, say, Sim City 4.
Posted 9 years ago2015-03-15 09:28:05 UTC Post #324724
The aesthetic is a bit all over the place: a cartoony style for the most part, but with a real-life sky texture? I do want to play this though, considering that the recent SimCity did nothing to improve on SimCity 4's legacy.

I'm enjoying it more than I've enjoyed any Sim City game since 3000.
Cities XXL is prettier, but the systems are much more robust in this.

Also, I don't know if you've placed a dam yet, Muzzeh, but there's dynamic flowing water! It's all physics-enabled and that actually determines how much power the dam produces. RIFLNEAT!

Yes, I've seen that, Arch, watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdmb5gXuM30

Too bad there's no damage inflicted. There are no disasters either, with the exception of fires. The devs are going to add disasters in a future update though, at least that's what they said.

When I'm not playing in a group in Don't Starve Together I hop on to my solo server for time with myself to cry and wonder why it was a good idea to even do such a thing.

It's autumn where mother nature isn't a threat and it's the perfect season to begin the game; find materials/supplies and begin making camp.
User posted image
A basic boxed-in setup was my first goal to keep the enemies out and it worked for the entire duration of autumn.

Come winter the temperature plummets and plants begin to freeze up and I'm now trying to keep the balance of staying warm while venturing out for the daily supply run. Then it happens.

There's a pattern of rumbles and my character Willow exclaims, "That sounded like a big mean monster man!" From the previous playthrough with mates it clearly was a giant approaching and specifically the winter Deerclops. Not taking any chances I leave camp and wait for it to pass...
User posted image
... straight through my camp. I return to the mess quite salty after the ordeal.

Life goes on and throughout spring I rebuild camp, survive the torrential rain, run in to the moose giant north of camp and even marvel at the egg it lays.
User posted image
User posted image
User posted image
Then yet another giant ruins camp and this time rummaging through my chests and fridges throwing away what isn't food and consuming what is. There goes almost 2 seasons worth of growing and scavenging food.
User posted image
Too salty to take screenshots of what camp was like during the invasion I shut the server down for another day of misery.

You can but they can take a beating while clearing you out in a matter of seconds if you're not careful. I just wasn't ready for a fight when they arrived so avoiding them was the only option.

Yes, let's all go and build a little fort and pretend there's cubes and buttons and portals for little imaginary people to go through while we criticise them.

Just because something can be done in the real world, doesn't necessarily mean that's the ideal way to experience it in general, let alone taking personal preferences into account.

I don't have any pretty screenshots, so have a look at what Anvil looks like when you climb on the houses and jump over the walls:

In light of the Fallout 4 trailer coming out last week, I fired up Fallout New Vegas again... on the last day of my holiday... because I'm some sort of idiot creature. It was about 5pm and I figured I'd load my old save file seeing as I never finished the game, maybe poke around for an hour or two to see how I left things.

Then, I'd tied up a bunch of unfinished quests and it was 1am...

I'd been planning on playing New Vegas after Oblivion, seeing as I bought it around launch but never actually really played it in the first place, but at this rate it'll be a while before I'm done with Oblivion.

@Tjb - The art style there reminds me of the Storm Wind city, from WoW.

I've been re-playing Hard Reset, from the same folks that made Painkiller. The game looks great and it ran so smooth even on my older pc.

I didn't noticed back then, but now i really appreciate how they added depth to scenes like the above using warm/cold colors.

I've been trudging through HL2 and the Episodes - stopping to smell the flowers, so to speak.
I've been really trying to focus on how the levels 'steer' the player, and I've also been hanging around with the NPCs trying to get them to talk.
I highly recommend taking your sweet time while playing through the HL2 games.

I always do, I can't help it. The only part that has a time limit is the citadel at the end. And that forest with the striders and the wooden cabins that I could never get past.
