Haha. Copy-pasting takes time?

I love how excited you were to see your friends playing your map. I remember the thrill of seeing that in-person for the first time myself, and it really stuck with me.

Why didn't you want to go on the school trip? They were the best days of school!

Keep doing what you're doing; It's good that your class are enjoying it. Try not to show off too much, make sure your teachers know it's a creative outlet, don't kiss your cousin and be proud of your work.

Rainbow Six never got better than this.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is hilariously broken. It makes for crazy coop games.

@JeffMOD: Interestingly enough, the map was called Convention Center

Rainbow Six Siege is frustratingly broken. It does not.

We had a lot of fun with terrorist hunt against AI, but I don't think we've ever won a PvP game that wasn't a fluke.

One of my roommates has Siege on the Xbox, he doesn't play it anymore because of the netcode and lack of singleplayer.

One of my other roommates has Vegas 1 and 2 on steam, and I've been playing them a bit lately via steam sharing. Quite a fun experience, though there were quite a few very cheap feeling deaths. (And the final boss for 2 is absolutely sadistic)
Have yet to find the Terrorist Hunt map I remember watching Urby and Archie playing on youtube though. I seem to recall the video being called Defusing the Convention Center, but I also remember the spawn being outside, so I dunno.

Haven't tried online with them because I doubt anybody plays 'em anymore, so I can't attest to the netcode in the Vegas games. Probably better than Siege though.

This is one of the major reasons that I don't like this game, I knew that technically speaking it was bad and it would follow quite the same path as PAYDAY 2. I think Ubisoft should have sticked with Unreal Engine 3 (Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2 were cool on the PC, the consoles versions seems to have suffered the same issue) or moved on to Unreal Engine 4 instead of wasting time on a dedicated engine.

Looking at the netcode analysis video you provided, especially with the first experiment with the shooter/victim, it seems that the game trust client's data, during my lessons in network programming, I've been taught to NEVER trust client's data so we hit a compromise here.

The thing that reveal player's IPs is also stupid in my opinion, it's a mix between P2P (Peer 2 Peer) and client-server architecture.

This is why I disable client prediction whenever I can, I would rather see players lagging and have a true confirmation of hit/non-hit instead of smooth player movement with "false hits".

For me, the best Rainbow Six game is still Raven Shield along with it's extensions.

But will it blend?

An actual resonance cascade wouldn't be a good thing. Basically, the whole gaming industry would collapse. Imagine all these consoles and PCs getting rekt by aliens. That would be so unfortunate. :(

Let's just hope it doesn't happen.

Welp let's see what the future holds for us! :D

Nice clean re interpretation of the level! I can't stand it when there's vertical release that the player cannot access however. But the map is very tidy and nicely made.

This is a masterpiece. I will do a more in-depth review after a proper game, but from running around earlier, this is wonderful.

I agree with Trempler's weapon/item placement issues. More numerous basic weapons + more spread out batteries would be a great starting point.

Otherwise, the only flaw I noticed was that the max viewable distance is short by around 256 units.

Also the turbine button should do something :>

Weapon and item placement is something I'm fully willing to hear suggestions for. I can't say I have a whole lot of experience with it.

Great job Jessie!

I really like the idea about this map.

+ Huge map with much stuff to explore
+ Cool use of the Apache :D
+ I love the underwater part with the flooded building and the glass pipes
+ Ambience is sweet, feels like a real hl1 map directly out of the sp.

- Weapon/Item Placement is awfull for DM. ( as example: corners with 5 Batterys.... never do that, 2 Batterys in a corner is good to go )
- because of the water and the high wpolys the map felt a bit laggy, maybe the engine has troubles with such big scaled water brushes, try using a normal brush with water texture, it will block vis too, or use water without waves to test if fps/ms getting better.

4/5 Stars for you :)

Revision one uploaded.

Revision two will include:
  • Realignment of some badly stretched textures
  • Re-place the other longjump module, because apparently that's not there anymore
  • Fix clipping error to the right of smaller tent that causes you to fall out of the level
Commented 7 years ago2017-03-02 02:09:18 UTC in vault item: dm_hydroelectric Comment #18439
Note that I've encountered some weird clipping issues in the past in unassuming locations on the terrain, where you'll just move into the floor for no reason. I've fixed the ones I've found, but let me know if you bump into any more.

Revision one will include:
  • Fix the rather bad clipping issue between dam and first tent
  • Add ichthyosaur, because Zeeba told me to (won't show up unless mp_allowmonsters is set to 1)
  • Move blocked spawn near rock overpass
  • Add a trim to glass on underwater tunnels

The sounds and all the tiny effects in this map are great. Sounds are just the right volume so you can hear other players. Unlike your other maps, this is far less linear so it's much better for DM and from what I played it might be a pretty good map. Again the lighting is a bit bland but nevertheless this map is very cool
