I used to have ATI (9800 Radeon), but poor driver support made me switch.

Nvidia has been treating me well ever since. I have had my GeForce 260 GTX for a year and half now, and it's still running great. I can't believe that it's still running all my games at max settings a year and half later.

Has anyone played this map?

No worries. I take no offense.
In fact, I am on vacation right now, visiting my in-laws. We just did my sister-in-law's baby shower two days ago.

"It's essentially being tenured, yes? Or is it better?"
It's the non-academic equivalent of being tenured. I still have to work as a doctor, but job security is pretty much guaranteed unless I do something egregious.

"Ah Satchmo. More time to use MP maps and turn them into SP :D"
Actually, if you look at my latest project, I just converted a SP map into a MP one. I can go both ways.
Valve has done it with their maps (dm_lockdown is a conversion of the Nova Prospekt levels in HL2, and dm_overwatch is a conversion of the Follow Freeman chapter).

It feels great because no one person can fire me anymore.

I can pretty much do anything I want (nothing illegal, of course).

I took the coast map just before entering Nova Prospekt and converted it into a HL2DM map.

I modified it quite a bit to make the deathmatch gameplay work, but the overall layout was done by Valve.

I remember the days when I pwnd some players over and over again in TF2.

Ahh, the memories.

Updated with a better skybox, more details, and improved lighting.

I probably won't make other versions, but it's always possible that I'll change my mind later.

I've spend a lot of hours mapping this week, and I'm extremely sleep deprived.

I guess I said "another" car because my car wasn't the only one involved in the accident.

I parked the car and got out right away, because I was afraid that the driver was going to drive away.

The layout is amazing. There are so many connections between the different sections in the map.

I love the attention to details. There are so many interesting things to look at in this map. The custom textures and graffiti also tickled my fancy.

The only thing that I didn't like is the skybox. I think the distant buildings would look better without the fog effect. I never liked the fog effect in the Source engine. It makes distant objects look "ghostly" and unrealistic.

I traveled to Prague alone and spent two weeks walking and riding trains all over the country.

Not being able to speak or understand czech is part of the fun and adventure.

Find the salesperson, and find out where he lives.

Send death threats to his house.

Everyone gets pissed off once in a while, but the motivated ones do something about it.

I advertised aggressively in the first two years, but the result wasn't encouraging.

I did manage to recruit quite a few actual "gaming parents", but most of them stayed on for a few months and disappeared.

I think the fundamental problem is that parents are just too busy participating in forums for games. For those parents who do play games, they rather spend time playing the actual games rather than browsing forums.

That's the fundamental flaw.

It's not necessarily too narrow. Just look at TWHL. It's really targeted toward a very narrow demographics--mapping for Half Life and its sequels. Yet TWHL is thriving. I think it helps that the members tend to be younger and TWHL had established itself early in the history of mapping so it's one of the oldest mapping sites around.

Anyway, I have analyzed it a billion times already, it's just time to call it quits.

I'll still come here, of course.

I have recurrent flying dreams too.

I would try to do a crouch-jump in my dream really hard, and suddenly I would be suspended in midair. From there, I do more crouch-jump moves, and my body would move higher and higher.

I tried that in real life, but it doesn't work.

And the gif is so sophomoric. I guess I feel that way because I am almost forty years old.

Children do not have the maturity or the rights to refuse treatment.

A two-year-old would refuse to take medicine for a pneumonia, do you listen to him?

I don't like the cover either, but it wasn't up to me to decide.

Until you work with a publisher, you won't realize how little control the author has over the process of writing a book.

This is how rumors get started.

It is not going to be a free healthcare. People still have to pay for each visit and for prescriptions, plus a monthly premium.

And 90% of Americans will not be covered under this plan. It's only designed for the uninsured.

Where are you people getting your information? People Magazine?
Commented 14 years ago2009-09-10 16:35:37 UTC in journal: #6052 Comment #47691
The problem is that many hard-working Americans have no access to health care at all because they lost their jobs or they can't earn enough money to pay $1,500 per month for insurance premium.

Yes, that's how much it costs to insure a typical family in America.

I don't know what he'll think about his life being documented on YouTube for all to see.

Imagine his girlfriend will see him naked in the bath tub with his rubber ducky. I don't know whether his friends will laugh at him or think he's adorable.

We'll find out ten years later.
