Yea, it was a good thing your mom sped away from the scene. If your mom would have stayed, and if one of the perps got somehow past the cops, he might have ran to your car, and then you and your mom could have become victims of a carjacking or worse. Desperate criminals will do anything to get away from the law, remember that.

Pixar can do no wrong. - Well, thanks for your honest movie review, as a Pixar fan, I will make it a point to go see it. Kids as young as your son can sometimes loose interest on anything that drags on too long, it's just the nature of being at that tender age. My two 3 year old nieces do the same thing too. But hey, next year Pixar's Toy Story 3 is coming out, so that definitely should catch your son's attention! Live toys + CGI,....what toddler could resist!

Toy Story 3 trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/toystory3/

You might have heard of this: Disney is going back to it's roots, old school style, they are releasing in theaters the first in a long time, hand drawn animated movie! It's called "The Princess and the Frog". And who said traditional animation was dead....Nope, not here.

That's some really deep, sharing of the heart stuff there, satchmo. I did not know you were so spiritual in nature. As you being a doctor, I figure you more as an intellectual that's more on the side of science than anything else. Pretty cool to know this.

Hey satchmo, since you brought up Orthodox Jews and assuming you know something about them, what is it really that separate them in religious terms from the rest of the more mainstream, moderate Jews?

That district 9 cracks me up for a couple of reasons. First, that insect like alien they show on the trailer, it is almost identical to this other alien called the Xindi that was shown a few times on the last Star Trek TV series called "Enterprise". The other funny thing is, some of those people posting their comments on YouTube for this trailer, are somehow connecting the district 9 movie to the Halo game.

Hey, wasn't there a few paperback V novels that came out soon after the original TV series ended? The V novels were somewhat of a continuation of the TV show, similar to the Star Trek novels that were published years later after the original 1960's TV series was canceled. Also, didn't Marvel published a limited V comic book series? I think I remember seeing those somewhere long ago...

Yea, I truly can say that I am old enough to remember seeing first run episodes of this series. It was one of my favorites sci-fi shows ever, along with Alien Nation a little after wards at the time. I did not care too much about 4400 though, but I do have high hopes for the new V reboot. Hey Mighty Atom, if you really want to watch a series that screws with your head and might even scare you, check out "Fringe". The first season just ended, I highly recommend it. All the episodes are still available for download at the "you-know-where" sites. Fringe is like the second coming of the X-Files, but much better and weirder.

@TJB: If you cant get your N64 to work and if push comes to shove, there's always the PC emulator route, of course it wont be the same as playing on the N64, but at least it is something.

Good that you brought up Black Holes, I found this very good 45 minute long video on the Google video site. This video is actually a space science episode that was shown on Discovery Channel on super massive Black Holes, it is worth checking out if you got the time:

@ The Mighty Atom: What about it? My 3D work is mostly on the Web3D area. Java3D, X3D, VRML2, H-Anim, Collada. Is that a problem not doing game maps? Now, I on occasion mess around with BSP maps by converting and adjusting them to other 3D formats, like shown on one of my sites:

www.VirtualHL.info

Anyway, I was under the impression that the Journals were for anything you wanted to talk about, not just maps.

Nice amount of tutorials on Left4Dead, not to mention the tools. Now, the wiki page says that it is still in beta, so I wonder what other neat stuff they would add at the end of the beta test. I think Valve is just warming up for the inevitable: HL3.

@ JeffMOD: It's funny that you mentioned "Chasing down trevelyan in the game", which I assume you are talking about the legendary N64 game Golden Eye. Even to this day, I still think about that game. Oh, another show that the Arecibo Observatory was featured in, was in an episode of the X-Files, though I can't remember the exact episode number or season.

Just to show you how fanatical some people can get, about a year after the N64 Golden Eye game came out on the market, a group of high school and university students got together, armed themselves with paintball guns and sneaked in to the Arecibo Observatory, and they went ahead and played out a paintball death match game right on the massive radio telescope installation!

It did not take long before they got busted by security and eventually arrested by the Puerto Rican police for trespassing on private property. When one of the students was questioned by police on why they broke in the Arecibo Observatory, he replied back: "We were duplicating the last level of the Golden Eye game". They were all let go afterwards once the students were billed hefty fines. Now that's what I call true, hard core death match gamers!

The latest I have been hearing, is that NASA will start privatizing some of their operations and projects, so as to lower their operational budget.

Anyway, on a related note, I am currently residing in Puerto Rico. And on Puerto Rico, located in a town called Arecibo, is a very large radio-telescope called "The Arecibo Observatory". In fact, it happens to be the most famous and largest of it's kind in the entire world. It was featured in the James Bond movie "Golden Eye" and the movie "Contact". Well, I am proud to say that I visit the place about 3 to 4 times a year, after all, I live about 15 minutes from it. It is truly awe-inspiring to look at that giant thing in the middle of the tropical forest.

For those of you who never heard of the world's largest radio telescope, here's it's wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arecibo_radio_telescope

The employee lunch room at my last place of work had about 8 of those snack vending machines. And I tell you what, with out fail I always had to shake the hell out of those stupid machines to get my lunch, every single day! Man, I really hate those machines.

Oh yea, there was this coffee dispensing machine that poured fresh coffee in a paper cup. Now, sometimes the coffee would run out, so if that happened, the machine would give you back the money you put in. But, if the machine ran out of the paper cups instead, guess what?......That damn machine would dispense the coffee anyway, right on to the floor!!!

Senior art director you say......You then Sir (should) have the power to fire people on your staff (and sometimes to hire too).

As for the girl in your life you had to dump, they come and go so don't sweat it, unless of course nine months from now you get a letter from family court asking you to appear for a hearing to decide the amount on your child support payments you will be making to your ex's baby (Hopefully that's a worst case scenario most likely not to happen, so don't loose sleep over it).

As for your late grandfather, my sincere condolences. I hope that drunk driver idiot gets charged and convicted on negligent homicide and serves life, which I think is the max for this type of crime.

Being broke should be a non-issue soon enough once you get that fat n' juicy senior art director's paycheck. OH YEA!

Collage.....I recommend you finish this ASAP, the diploma will look good on your professional resume.

Busted wrist.....Well, as long as it does not interfere with your new job and gaming skills, you should be okay.

Life sucks........you got that right!.....Now have a shot of rum and a cigar.

Hey satchmo, I too bookmarked the White House website, there's just too much stuff there that I have to go back and check out! In case you have not done so yet, I recommend you check out the "Agenda" section, on the "Defense" link, there is some surprising info there which is coming from a supposed liberal democrat administration. Here's a piece of what I just read there:

QUOTE:
"Expand to Meet Military Needs on the Ground: Obama and Biden support plans to increase the size of the Army by 65,000 soldiers and the Marine Corps by 27,000 Marines."

Now, I was always under the impression that that our new President would be hostile towards improving the armed forces, well....I guess I was wrong.

What do you think?.......

Well Jinx, thanks for your O.K. then. Mmm, you know what, I was thinking....., instead of converting your map to VRML, I'm going to go ahead and crank it up a notch more and convert it to the more advance X3D format, which is the next generation version of VRML. Think of it this way, just like HTML + XML will give you XHTML, well then VRML + XML will give you X3D. Also, I will try to see how the map's textures will look like in X3D converted to the Jpeg2000 format, which is a newer, exotic version of the regular Jpeg picture format. I will of course let you know when I get it done.
For more info on X3D, check these two links out:

Wow, the one thing that I must say that stands out the most is the layout, well thought out and clean. Also, I like how you mixed in classical paintings with some anime pictures as part of the museum's art showcase, that should throw off some people, he,he,he. Right now, all I can do is view your map on Crafty, since the PC that I am using now is not mine and does not have Half Life installed. But once I get my laptop back from the repair shop, I will then check out your museum map in full play mode and then rate your map. (Man, this map would really make a good VRML world too, it's just perfect for it.) Well, keep up the good work, Jinx.

Yea, Pixar is definitely an A CLASS studio ahead of it's time. Wall-E was a real treat to watch, especially with the kids. Now, my personal favorite is Ratatouille, that movie just had everything in it. Hey Strider, so you know, the next Pixar movie is called "Up". Yes I know, not much for a movie's title, but that's what is on Pixar's website. You know, I found this little interesting webpage on Pixar's custom RenderMan software products, and I tell you what, poor artists need not apply:

I must say, this is one heck of a map you got here, I can tell to put a lot of effort in to it. The level design is on par on what you can find in a professionally done, commercial video game, bravo!

Oh by the way, I have been getting some very good comments by visitors to the VRML version of your Revenant map on my website. In fact, just yesterday, I was with 7 other people inside Revenant chatting away for about 2 hours. They were all impressed by your handy work on Revenant. Like I said, I do have the BBCode feature on the regular forum boards, but for some reason, it's not showing up on this thread's text area. Oh well, it's no big deal.

Anyway, going back to the main topic, with all joking aside, if you were to really try to put a monetary value to TWHL, I don't see how you would do it, since what I understand about the value of websites, is a website's value is based on the amount of revenue it generates from the fees it charges from advertising placement on it's web pages. And I don't see any adds on TWHL. Unless of course, you are going by visitor traffic hits, but I don't know if that would be enough for coming up with a price tag of $74,035, but I might be wrong, because I obviously don't know how many hits TWHL gets a day anyway.
