After three months of no mapping.. well training mapping.. I think i am good enough to be a vetaran mapper. I already made alot of maps while practicing, dont worry they dont suck, they are actually good. One is a cool DAM map and the other one is a destroyed city place. some lord of the rings maps.. but those projects are all 75% complete... and My favorite project: Half-life 1?. Its currently underway so wait for it! :P

friction entety needs to increase the friction a bit, it's at a stupid level at the moment and its a bastard to get through the doors as you keep bouncing arround!
vent on the 2nd quater has been connected and lit, buyzones have been added and I've put the hostage rescue point in the 2nd quater, I think I'll mix things up on the map some more with more hostages spread over the map. I want to avoid the office thing of just a big gun fight that determines the outcome of the round 95% of the time. I want it to be more tactical and while the vents are a good way of players getting arround they can't be used by hossies so I'm thinking a lift could be useful...

Why is so many mapping for CS? to me it's just a waste of time, No one will play your map, even if it's good as hell. Cs players are afraid of change so they play in the same maps over and over again (dust, dust2, aztek, office and so on)

A DELAY!!!
Vesa Research Facility will be delayed untill next year, mainly because I'm enjoying the delights of Half Life 2.

But It will be finished, I've got some friends doing the custom speech files and sounds.
Also working on the various graphics to put around the place in Adobe photoshop. Signs and other objects.
It should be good because most of the signs im using will be my own and not half lifes.

that sounds pretty painful satchmo. i've always considered EA to be a company that makes money by stealing other peoples games, messing about with them and knocking up the price a bit.

A thread on HL Fallout was commenting about a program on Goodmorning America (morning talkshow in the States). It's regarding violence in the media and video games. Among the worst offenders (i.e. most violent videogames) were Doom3, Grand Theft Auto 3, and Half-Life 2!

I've always thought the sort of argument proposed by the conservatives (damn Bush supporters) that violent video games influence the behavior of young people is a dangerous road down the slippery slope. It's one step away from censorship. Gamers are as likely as priests and nuns to carry out violent acts. In fact, from the sleuth of sexual molestation accusations lately, gamers are less likely to committ deplorable acts.

I am a pediatrician, and I have many colleagues in the hospital who are also fans of first-person-shooter games. In fact, that's one of our favorite passtimes after we've spent days saving lives in the hospital. The rush of excitement while spurting out bullets from an assault rifle provides a great outlet for the stress and frustration encountered daily in the lives of a medical resident. In fact, some of the best doctors I know are formidable opponents in a deathmatch arena.

People are not made violent by video games. Those who perform violent acts already have the seed of violence within them before they started playing these games. There are so many other social ills which need to be addressed before paranoid conservatives invent fears among harmless hobbies.

Stop censorship. Stop conservatives from taking over the world. Stop G. W. Bush.

I agree with SariBous completely. We are justified to be upset because noobs flood the forum with questions that should be readily answered by the tutorials. If they only bother reading them first.

And why ask others to map for you? If you're that lazy to map, why bother mapping at all? Why don't you just play these commercials games "as is" and leave the creative process to someone with more motivation and intelligence?

Good support only goes to those who deserve them.

Some members on this site are real cunts.
Flooding the forum with useless shit, wanting others to to the work for them. drives me up the wall..

of course they should ask for help when they are stuck, but if they start like "do it for me" as some do, then they can fuck off.

Besides, ALOT is covered in the tutorials on this site.
it has to be one of the most comprehensive collections of good tutorials on mapping, yet no one seems to read them..

And, "may i post music in the vault?" NO cock-face, you may not!
what would happen if everybody started uploading whatever they wanted?

guess i'm a bit angry today.
well.. you can suckle my phallus..

time to study for that friggin' test in "datorkommunikation" that is tomorrow.. yeah.

added: a fan in the vent, custom floor textures, various lighting fixes. a friction enterty in one of the rooms with an oily custom texture on the floor,
need to put a light in the vent on the 2nd building, connect that vent to the vent system, make buyzones, move hostage rescue zone to T spawn area and make the 2nd quater of the building...

I realized that ever since I started mapping, I appreciate the everyday beauty of the mundane objects around us. I get mesmerized by the subtle way light penetrates the leave of a tree. I am impressed by the reflection of boats in the cobalt-blue water. And at night, I am particularly seduced by the lone street lamp, guarding the silence of the neighborhood.

We live in a wonderful and beautiful world. Never would I expect that virtual reality would make me appreciate the real world better.

What a wonderful world.

I've put some of my textures into custom.wad however I downloaded lights.rad and that made all my light emmiting textures acctually emmit light so I've got a lot too many light sources, at the moment I've removed all the entrys for lights.rad except for my pepsi vending machine and will need to either delete a lot of my light entities or keep my light emmiting textures out of the lights.rad file. or perhaps on the lights with a flicker/pulse make the texture emmit a small amount of light only.

The Pepsi vending machine looks fantastic, I'll include it in the next screen shot of this map! :D
