A humorous take on flu shot safety. I made this video this morning partly to educate people about the risks and benefits of the flu vaccine.

I got a fever, and the only prescription is more Minecraft.
I got my new laptop which I'm very pleased with, it runs Source games unlike my old one which ran Goldsource at about 30 fps. So I decided to buy Minecraft after hearing so much about it and now I'm hooked. Right when I think I've run out of ideas for things to do I discover a huge cave system or build a network of bridges in between a whole chain of islands. Another that comes with my new laptop is mapping again, I can't wait to start up again. In terms of HL 1997 I'm awaiting orders of what to map so I might recreate another Metroid Prime Hunters map while I wait.

PS anyone know how to make a bounce thing without the actual bouncer, alien, plant thing

Ok so I saw the competition results and it was really great to be in a competition for once. That was my fourth submitted map ever and I took alot of time just fixing bugs.

In the end it looks like it got extremely difficult (That was why I put alot of items there to counter the problem, but seems it didn't work.) Well I was going for that theme a bit overboard and I guess it got out of hand. Though I guess I have played mods much harder than this, including one called bloodreign where you ride in an elevator, and awaiting at the top are six turrets, an apache, a garg, some soldiers, fullbright, and high r-speeds. That mod was a nightmare and I never want to play that again. Shudder.

Well then I'm sure you all want your ass kicked by this map so I will upload it soon. Also I have been recently playing starcraft 1 w/ friends alot which explains why I wasn't on steam. And I was making starcraft 1 maps that are remakes of starcraft 2 campaign maps, though since I can't host I don't think no one will ever play them.

Here's to more compos at TWHL! Cheers

UPDATE: Now at 24fps with rudimentary colour correction and other effects.

It's (seriously) short film time! It's just over 2 minutes, trust me!

I totally made this! Would love to get some feedback on it as it has been quite a while since I've shot and cut video.

While I'm here, I may as well remind you that this competition is still going. Check it out and rate it as you wish (and by that I mean 'rate it five stars or get banned'). In case you've forgotten, this is the portfolio of my lovely girlfriend, Lesley, which has been entered into a contest.

I recently made a £120 investment toward a more professional sound-recording setup, not only for better sound in my vlogs, but also because I want to do more music-related stuff and of course voice acting which I enjoy immensely.

I received a few e-mails asking what the mic I'm now using is and figured that some of you might be interested as well - after using it for a few weeks I could not recommend any of this kit more. I love it.

So the mic is a Samson CO1U. It cost around £70 with postage (it's heavy) and it was a tough decision choosing this - a USB mic - instead of a powered XLR mic. Obviously for the best audio recording you don't want to be able to hear computer fan noise in the background, so a USB mic seems like a very poor call. I decided to go for it so I could more easily use it for vlogging, though, and I got a 6m USB cable so that for any proper audio recording I can be very far away from the PC.
It really is a fantastic mic, with a simple switch allowing 3 seperate responses (omni, figure-8 or super-cardioid) and it also has a -10db bass cut switch as well which I used in my review of The Citizen 2 to minimise the fan noise from the PC and it seemed to work splendidly.

I mount the mic on a SAMSON SP01 suspension mount. It's compact, easy to position and works exactly as it should. It's also made very solidly. I feel like I could throw it against a wall and the wall would come out of it worse off. It set me back about £35.

I was originally going to buy a very cheap pop shield, but decided that since I'm spending so much on the rest, I don't want to cheap-out on something which could potentially ruin the whole ensemble, so rather than the fragile plastic alternative, I went for the metal-bodied SAMSON PS01. Nice naming technique, huh? It's pretty much identical to the suspension mount. Anyway, as with the rest this seems fantastic. The metal frame is tough and solid feeling, and the neck is very flexible allowing it to be positioned exceptionally easily. It cost me around £15.

All of this is mounted on Tiger Stands generic "Microphone Stand Boom" which... Well, it's a stand. It works nicely. £15.

It all feels great to use and I've already received plenty of positive feedback about the improvement, so I'm really glad I splashed out on this and if any of you are planning to do the same, I hope you get some benefit from this review.

I have since added a Boom Arm

Some of you may have noticed a deafening silence as of late. That would be my absence.
Long story short, the family computer is out of commission, leaving only mine able to connect to the internet, and only through the highspeed stick. So I probably won't be around for a bit.
On the bright side, I have a new map in the works. See you (hopefully) soon!

Ok guys, please don't consider this journal spam. I am sorry to post so many jorunals in a short time span.

I had to replace my headset because of that stereo problem, now... my keyboard( Logitech Internet 350) begins to fail. I appreciate my keyboard, it resisted to a 4 year torture. Some keys are failing though. To my surprise, they're not the most used ones(the A-Z keys). But the arrow keys.. which are somewhat equally important. Right now, as an up arrow sits the "del." key from the numpad, because the up arrow key has failed.
Now the right arrow is failing! And the backspace remains blocked sometimes.

The problem is that I am very used to this keyboard now and I am afraid of changing it. My friends have shitty keyboards, so I can't test a high-quality one at somebody, that's why I am asking you. I found though the wireless version of this one, which is twice as expensive. It's the Logitech Pro 2000 Cordless Keyboard.

My question is this: should I buy the same model, or should I buy the cordless one?

Do you have other good suggestions in the approximately same price range?
Remember, I don't like fancy keyboards with a ton of stupid buttons. I like them to be stylish, with as few extra buttons as possible, but they have to be useful(on my keyboard I never use the play\pause, volume or email buttons, but I very often use the computer, home page or mute). I saw some keyboards that are illuminated, but I'm skeptical to the typing feeling(that's why I am afraid of changing my keyboard). There are also keyboards with a scroll for the volume- I accept suggestions of keyboards with this type of extra-controls, but I actually used a keyboard with a scroll-volume at school. The scroll is absolute shit. So yeah, you know what I mean.
Oh, and btw, noticed the layout on these 2 keyboards? I like it that way. Every other layout is, again, absolute shit.

Thanks to anyone who can spare their time for some advice.

Are fast headcrabs supposed to be able to run around on the ceiling? I ask because that's exactly what I saw, I was playing HL2: EP1 and when I was in the zombie infested tunnels I saw a fast headcrab running around on the ceiling. It then jumped down and attacked me but I had never seen this before.

Today I received my new headset: Plantronics Gamecom 367.
It's probably not what I expected( we always expect for the best when we should expect for the less heh?), but it's surely a lot better then my old 5$ headset. Even though I never touched something like, let's say, Senheiser, I can feel there is still more to improve on the sound quality.

They're really nice though and comfortable (big ear cups and evenly distributed pressure). They have a "noise cancelling" microphone, although the noise canceling part isn't working quite well. But the microphone does, and it's good quality. It's also nice I can hide it in the headset when I don't need it, and it's quite flexible too.

I've only been listening to them for 2-3 hours, but I declare myself satisfied for the amount of money I paid. On some music tracks I increased the bass a little bit just to see how it feels. You know how it feels? Ear massage. And if ear massage happens at entry level headsets, then at something like Senheiser it must be Eargasm :).

Hey, at least I have stereo sound now, which is quite important in gameplay... (yes, the old ones I had to re-solder some wires and somehow they only worked in mono, so yeah...).

This is weird.
I just wanted to upload a video to youtube when I saw this information:

"Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video. "

Umm, ok, this is nice. But how did it happen? Do you guys know of any conditions that are needed to obtain this? Because I don't, I don't know what I did to obtain this facility :\.

Finally popped the question properly to Lyssa! It was at a family gathering today at one of her uncle's mother-in-law's place. It was hectic trying to get everyone together discretely and not spoil the surprise, including giving the camera to the camera man and not telling him why he needs it. When everyone was in one spot and quiet, I gave my little speech. Sorry I kinda made it up out of love on the spot and I dont really remember it. But it was along the lines since we've been through SOOOO much over that last year together, we have pretty much become inseparable and I wouldn't want it any other way. She was completely blown away by the ring and how large it is.
