A couple of days ago, a friend said to me: You MUST check out this game. No excuses. And gave me a download link. We occasionally share abandonware and rare underground games, so I just downloaded it and thought nothing of it. It was a rather small file (around 100MB, small indeed for modern figures) and apparently had modest computer requirements. I needed to download a missing DLL which wasn't hard to find anyway, and I had it running in no time.

It was a modest game indeed. The title screen was the first level, even. The title of the game... Braid. Didn't ring a bell. No game menu, no help screen, only 5 useful keys in my vast keyboard: The arrow keys and spacebar. And only one thing to do, too: play.

You play as Tim, an (apparently sad) little man with a red tie who is in a mission to rescue an evasive Princess that has been kidnapped. You jump on top of enemies to get rid of them, and Tim's mission - besides finding the Princess - is to gather some puzzle pieces that vaguely picture his memories... it's a platform game. It reminded me of good ol' Mario, only this one has a twist: You can't lose. If you die, you just rewind the game back to when you didn't, and keep playing. But hold on, it's not that easy. Most puzzles are thought out around the idea that you can go back and forth in time, and so you must do that often to be able to gather the keys and puzzle pieces in order to continue. Each world (6 total) has a different twist to it, but I won't spoil. There is not much to explain here, anyway, as the game does an awesome job at self-explaining - even without words, as the only text you'll see onscreen is the game story.

Throughout the game, the story is (intentionally) kept rather vague and confuse. Only when you get to the end you can kind of see the whole picture, but even then you'll have to stop and think about it for a moment. What you've seen is not what you thought it was, that's all I'll say.

I finished it last night at about 4am, I was hooked. It doesn't have mind-blowing 3D graphics, or a bizarrely convoluted plot, or HDR, or whatever. It's a beautifully simple game like I haven't seen in at least a decade (not to say two).

In my games rating, it gets a 9 just because Mario won't be beat off the top so easily. Tim wasn't around during my childhood :P

TLDR: Check out Braid. It's a must.

um, yeah, don't really know how to say this but my sister Shaena passed away lastnight, got the news at 3:20 early dismorning. She was only 11 months older than me, her birthday was on Dec. 24th. The funeral isnt set yet.. So this is my goodbye to the forum for a couple months, I'm taking what you might call a sick leave from the forum.

Here's what I do when I'm extremely bored, in 2 days :

What I do.

[EDIT] I was programming something in AutoIT and at a point(I was a little dizzy), instead of endfunc I accidentally wrote something else:

I lol'd hard, especially because it wasn't "coming from my brain" at that exact moment what I wrote, if you understand :))

The brain is something so complex that in some situations I find it hard to control my own brain.
It's like this, today the enthusiasm of programming caught me again so I decided to read about some miscellaneous things here and there. The problem is, throughout my reading I encountered several links\pieces of information that sparked my interest. And from those links I saw other links\pieces of information etc... ending up with a ton of tabs opened.
I even ended up installing a combined scripting-programming-batch language(something like an advanced BASIC), "AutoIT"(I focus on C++ though, but for fast funny things this is awesome). With this piece of shit, if you have da' skillz, you can create complicated software in hours !(ok this sounds ridiculous).
I also read that it's possible to have lucid dreams. It says that's a cool out of the body experience, creating your own universe. I always wanted to fly... I even had a cool dream where the sensation was almost real...But it's hard. You have to keep a dream journal and practice everyday "reality checkup" so that it goes somewhere inside your brain so that you can "remember" to do this in a dream. It's a somewhat progressive evolution, and at its peak is where the fun starts.

tldr: I wish I could control my "flow of interest" or something like that, so I can concentrate on one subject at a time.

Some of you might already know about this, so this is for those of you not in the know:

Did any of you PS3 owners see this coming? Let's just say if it happens, which most likely it will happen, it will mean that one of the best argument PS3 fanboys have for owning a PS3 instead of a Xbox360 will evaporate.

Sure, The PS3 is more powerful and it's games are more prettier looking than the Xbox360's games, but what really counts to people is having something that's really good......for free. But once you remove that special something that people are already used to having it for free, well....it should be very interesting to see what happens next.

What might be coming:

I've been on TWHL two years and never completed or uploaded a single map. I'm not sure if I should be impressed or depressed. I've done work on plenty of maps in source and GS but they've never been "good enough", in my opinion at least, to release.

I got a grand idea for a map! BRB.

Not So Original Post:
I found out that Poison Garden, Poison Garden Lite, and Sunden are no longer available because m0px.net has gone down. I'll see if I can get them reuploaded soonish. Also, Can Headcrabs Float might be uploaded as well if I can find it.

Original Post:
So I played some awesome TF2 last night. Apparently it was a night where people were doing dramatic readings of terrible fan-fictions from around the internet. One of which was a Sonic the Hedgehog porn story, I couldn't stop laughing. To keep the time limit at maximum, the server was set to taunt kills only and no capturing or anything.

I faved the server.

Irony sucks.

A massive lightning storm was coming my way last night, probably the craziest one I've ever seen. I powered down all my electronics and turned them off at the wall, you know the drill. Waited the storm out, turned them back on, and now my LCD TV appears to be fried. It's connected through a surge board, and wasn't even on at the time of the storm. It looks like the act of turning it back ON fried it (static build up?), and it didn't even trip the surge board or damage the other electronics hooked up to it.

That's what it looks like at this stage anyway. Gonna' test a few ideas I've found on the interwebs, but it looks like it's time to dig out my warranty forms, wherever the hell they are.

I loved this TV. :<

Saints win the super bowl!!! They've been an NFL franchise for 43 years and havent won, so they deserve it! Plus the Colts knocked the Jets outta the playoffs - fuckers.

Anyway, i'm pumped to see New Orleans actually celebrating after Katrina. Makes me happy.

Woot woot football.

In other news, my dad built a computer with an i7 processor, and the RealTek Audio drivers are crashing his system; random shutdowns when streaming music, playing COD:MW, and Portal... Must fix soon...
Edit- sorry i was drunk

Attn: On mod DB, there is a dude called petrick who is uploading a gamut of old mods for HL1. I like this guy. I recommend you to go to the Mod DB right now and download all the mods that were previously available only to people who could find foreign downloads. Now that you downloaded some of those excellent mods, you can find that the standard deviation of the quality of all those mods is really high (not necessarily a good thing).

This month we are going to discuss a mod called Robotech: Invasion (not on moddb). I cannot believe I did not find this mod earlier than I did, although whether it still exists is subject to debate. This mod features an unfinished training course, and unfinished main game also. But boy, would you wish it were finished! Lemme tell you, in addition to (poorly-modeled) new monsters, EVERYTHING HAS A CARTOON SKIN! Yep, all the items, weapons, and especially monsters are remodeled with cartoonish skins. The grunts are remodeled high definition, but their skins are not cartoonish, for some reason.

My favorite part (and maybe yours too, once you find it somehow) is all the new weapons. If I recall correctly, there are about 4 handguns, 4 submachine guns, and 3 protoculture weapons. I just want to say that all the weapons are roaring awesome, but maybe that's because the game makes headshots do way more damage. The only flaw in this game is boring boxy architecture, but that doesn't seem so important when you have roaring awesome weapons, in my opinion. Too bad it's unfinished though, I think it would turn out really gnarly if it was, what with bland architecture, crazy weapons, grunts who use more than a mp5 and shotgun (wow!), and giant mecha robos who have close to 1000 hit points. Oh woops, better not spoil anymore.

In HL: chronicles, there was one new weapon (actually 2), and that made it awesome. So in this game, there are more than 10 new weapons, so this game is logically more than 10 times more awesome. If you find fault with this logic, than you are perfectly sane. It's called opinion.
