If you seriously do need an extension for a valid reason (An extra week at most), PM me or Daubster and ask.

We dont want to count off because people (with good reasons) didn't get as much done as they would like.

The original Supreme Commander was quite fun I thought. It's just different from every other RTS in terms of resource management and the process of upgrading your stuffs.

It had a bit of a steeper learning curve than most other RTS's but I enjoyed it quite a lot. It was just something different.

I too look forward to SC:E

Whoever came up with the idea of WoW (and most MMO's in general) are all freakin financial geniuses.
Not financial geniuses. They just jumped on the MMO wagon somewhat early, and blizzard has very good quality games. The quality of blizzard in combination with loads of advertisement is what makes them the 'geniuses' they are.

Eve-online is also a very good quality MMO for those who like space games. It has a whole lot of "sophisticated" enjoyment, but not as much of a visual side. What is there visually is rather good, there's just not as much of it. It is extremely 'expansive' though. It has a fully working dynamic player-driven economy, several thousand different systems you can go to, and more ship customization than you could ever hope to want, heh.

I dont think there is a demo, no.

It doesn't really make sense to make a demo either, as GTA 4 is pretty large. It's a massive city afterall.. You couldn't release a small section of the city because it likely wouldn't work out to be a playable demo. At the same time they aren't going to release an entire island because the amount of work and detail put into it was worth too much effort and time to place onto a 'free' demo. It's probably pretty damned large to download too ;o

Look @ his mouses, instant fail
Those mouses aren't that bad when you get used to them. Also they make sense in another way; they save room in that they dont need mousepads.

Not having to move a mouse helps with the space issues when that many computers is involved.

I always thought.. How badass would a person from the spider-man movie universe be if he was bitten by the spider, if he inhaled the green goblin gas, if he was attached with robo-spider arms, then taken over by that living transforming black crap, and then lastly he was atomized in that spinny sand machine. He'd be pretty badass.

Make sure it's inside your map, make sure the map has no leaks, and make sure you set it up a bit. If a light_environment isn't projecting light from your skybox texture, you're doing something wrong.

Use a light_environment.
then what?
Its like a normal light, it just makes light come from the entire sky as opposed to one point. There's not really anything else to be said there.

Kk hlife_hotdog.

1. No SoHL

2. No "multiple entries", but you can include multiple puzzles inside of one entry which is basically the same thing as submitting multiple entries anyway. You may have more than one map as part of a single entry.

3. It could be that, yes.. But it's really any puzzle you want. By definition off of Dictionary.com, a puzzle is:

a toy, problem, or other contrivance designed to amuse by presenting difficulties to be solved by ingenuity or patient effort.

You just need to create a puzzle, an obstical, or a trap that us judges have to get around. The more original it is, the more points you get.

The new competition is here, finally :D

Discussion goes here.

Some things to remember-

Just because I like to run things by people a few times, ill mention a few commonly overlooked means of disqualification.

1. Make sure it works in a game that we have allowed such as:

Half-Life 1
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Episode 1
Half-Life 2: episode 2
Portal

We have not decided if we're allowing Spirit yet. Depending on your concern, we might or might not.

2. Include an informative readme along the lines of:

Entry: Deth Ball
Map Technical Name: Compo26_TheGrimReafer_DethBall
By: TheGrimReafer
Game: Portal
Any comments or mentions

Absolutely make sure your map's technical name has no spaces, no funky characters, and it has to have your username in it. Absence of such will cause disqualification.

3. If you have custom content, make sure it's in the appropriate file structure.

Dont give us a free for all style folder with all needed models, sounds, and BSP's in it for us to place where it goes. I'm sure you can imagine how annoying that becomes.

Custom content will not win your entry for you.

4. Send your entries in .zip or .rar.

We have hard-drives too, heh.

5. Get it in on time.

We're sticking to the deadline on this one. If need for exception arises, PM me or Daubster about it.

As far as prizes go, we have no money to give you this time. What we do have, however, is the ability to give you a fancy trophy for your member page, a mini-review, and the first-place winner gets to decide the next competition.

Source and Goldsource entries will be judged together.

We swear we'll make un-biased judging according to the limitations of the engines.

That pretty much sums it up.

That all being said, be sure to have some fun with this one. We're hoping for a good turnout this time :combine:

You have just over six weeks. Commence-

That guy's a tool.

He's so fucking biased, hell. That's not even a review.

He's just slamming on it.

That one part in particular where he talks about the intelligent 'signal analysis' girl being hot doesn't make sense. He talks about how it doesn't happen but hell, its a movie. They aren't going to make it a real signal analysis girl because that probably wouldn't appeal to anyone.

1. I dunno.. Mine's always been just fine so that's a bit wierd.

2. Tools>Options>2D Views>Options>Default to 15 degree rotations

It works sort of opposite from what you're saying but I prefer it over your way. It does 15 degree rotations normally, and you hold shift to get the in between stuff.

3. It is a bit annoying, yeh; Even the SDK takes a bit to load for not really any reason.

4. Long compile times are part of the 'better lighting'. Punch intentional leaks into the map and turn it on fast, and it helps.. Even with leaks you can have good non-fullbright lighting now. Just make sure sv_cheats 1 and mat_fullbright 0 is on.

5. The Show-all button is now User posted image

Edit: Aww.. PB got it first :(

$concave starts to lose its 'accuracy' with larger models, so..

Punch -fullcollide into the compiler before you run it.

If that doesn't do anything, in the qc put $maxconvexpieces in the options under your $collisionmodel. Start with the "$maxconvexpieces 25" at 25 and work your way up from there.

I think thats it anyway.

Edit: FYI: By default the maxconvexpeices of $concave is 20
