I'm not sure which title specifically (or if that qualifies as an MSPaint, since only the HUD is Paint), that's from Armored Core series.

I don't got a pic right now, so I'll save my turn.

There should be an SDK for Sin Emergence coming out at some point. The Steam Update news list for it doesn't have it, but if you recall when they added Arena Mode back around June 26th, one of the points was that they rearranged some assets for the SDK.

Yeah, it seems to be somewhat common. Enough so, I think, that it's in the Bugs section of the Developer Wiki here, bulletin 3. It's claimed to be an existing issue and not a problem w/ the Beta SDK. It was posted in January of this year and is still present, so there prolly isn't a way to fix it...or noone thinks this is a big deal yet. Pisses me off, 'specially since I'm tryin' to do some nice vm work on a large scale and I'm no longer sure if it'll turn out nice.

Proves a problem there as I don't know how to model very well yet. However, even on a large scale (the domed top of the room) does the same thing.

I wonder if anyone has made an HLfix for Source yet, or how hard it would be to do so...

THet did seem to fix my 'graphical' problems, but I'm makin' a new post to see if anyone can help w/ my other complication that impedes my mapping.

I've seen ppl here and on other sites/in game w/ nicely detailed maps. However, when I try to detail, like this basin in this little project I'm working on (name blanked out b/c of what it's for). I created the basin by creating a series of 360 degree arches w/ 4 unit thick wall, each smaller on all axies, and vmed the top verticies out to be under the the bottom of the one above it. However, when I save the map and reopen it later, it ends up like in the pic.

Is there any file I can use or setting I can change to stop this?

I've been playin' w/ the idea of enterin' this compo, but I'd like to have a better look at the map the pic is from first. I tried using Nem's Crafty Object Viewer, but I've been unable to get a textured view. Any suggestions?

Ahh ok...that explains why some ppl hate the php like, however, to be honest, as I am prolly one of the largest sadistic bastards you'll ever meet, I don't much care about such triffiling inconviniences ;).

As for down grading the DXL...not an option. Not only is this a shared computer, but alot of gaming goes on here, at the highest settings the system can handle.

Anyway, the problem only really started to occur about a week ago, so I doubt a DXL problem would have takin' this long to arise, as I've been using the Source SDK since...checks journal...May 23rd...ish.

I'll double check but I'm certain that it is.

And as for the php thing, I don't see why ppl bitch about it.

EDIT My video driver for my Radeon X300 128MB is up-to-date. My DirectX version is 9.0d and the driver is 6.14.10.6601 (found w/ System Info for Windows), is this up-to-date? If not, where should I get the newest one from, Microsoft or my manufacteror, Dell (had problems last time I tried to update a driver that wasn't from Dell)?

I'm not sure if that's the problem or if my solution was incorrect. I searched the Developer Community for dxlevel 8, clicked the SDK Workaround link and placed it's -dxlevel 80 fix w/in the launch options of the SDK itself, but that didn't help. I'm checkin' the larger Source SDK Bugs/Hammer Bugs page, but that will take some time. For now, I'll leave u w/ another part of this problem.

Hu huh...it seems a week doesn't go when Hammer gives me a hard time. Now, aside from my vm's not properly sticking after I save and reopen the map, I also often get this problem when selecting an object, mainly something like this hollow cylinder (a 360 arch).

Damn, had a detailed post written for this but just lost it. So u get the slimmed down, jist of it version.

Processor: P4 3.4GHz w/ HT
Bground Processes: Family comp so messing w/ them is out of the option (don't know what needs to be there and what doesn't)
Hollowing Method: Clip the brush in half, create copy and shrink 30 units or so, clip small out of large, painstacking vm to optimize
Options >> 3D View: Back Clipping Plane = willing to lower, Model Render Distance = No touchy (mod map's for has a VERY large model included, I'm using it)
Posting VMF: Would, but as stated above, map's for a mod. For optimal viewing and possibly understanding, Dystopia prolly would be required, but I could be wrong.
Map Size: Fledgling map, very little to it yet.
Dome Thread Link: Thanx

Have I managed to find a problem that is unsolvable by the TWHL community?

Can noone give an answer to either of my requests?

Is it not possible to optimize Hammer for more detailed work on lower spec machines?

Is it not possible to make a dome w/out modelling it?

Am I the one to 'break' TWHL w/ a question that noone can answer?

Are u sons o' bitches just ingnoring this b/c it's Jimmi level spamming or a stupid question?

I'm in the same boat. I've easily got over half a dozen maps on the go, ~6 for CSS and 2 for Dystopia, and I haven't felt the urge to do any real work on most of them l8ly.

Although, to be fair, that's partly due to problems w/ Hammer and complications w/ my XSI models.

I'm really starting to hate this Dell I'm stuck with. I don't know if it's the Sys memory or the Vid memory or what, but I keep crashing Hammer. I'm attempting to make a dome 'shield'. I'm planning on doing this by creating a 16-sided sphere w/ dimensions 1150x1150x1150, cutting it in half w/ the clip tool and then hollowing out the half I keep. But every time I try to clip it, even if I use a blank map, I crash Hammer.

My comp has 128 MB of video memory and 1 GB of system. Also, as long as I have Hammer open and displayed, I can hear my HD going constantly. Is there anyway I can optimize Hammer to work on my system?

Also, if anyone who knows anything about modelling and HASN'T already seen my 'Skinning Problems' thread, plz have a look and see if u can help there as well. Thx.

Does the SDK know where to look for the files when running studiomdl w/ a mod? I've tried 3 different basic models w/ my SDK set up for Dystopia and followed Source Modelling Setup tutorial to the letter (taking the obvious corrections for the setup) and my models still only display w/ the pink/black pattern.

The .mdl and .vtf files go where they should when they're compiled, but the .mdl can't seem to tell it's .vtf from it's own ass.

ok. Thanx for that info Ant. My planned changes are going to be for a model from Dystopia. The Jack-In model (used to enter cyberspace) currently comes in 3 varieties: Punks (grity, no symbol), Corps (Datatrust corporate logo) and Public (upside down question). I wanted to great a fourth custom one for a map I'm working on. So in order to not mess up the others, I'll have to decompile one and change the .qc file and save it under a different name.

However, when I import the SMD file, I get nothing. I can't see the model. I beleive I'm importing the right one (I sometimes get multiple). How can I fix this? Also, do I need to decompile/import the model to change it's skin?
