And which hypocrites? There's nothing I've said to make you think that.
Pretty much every 'discussion' we've had in the last couple of months has made me think that, but I won't go into it here.
But I just don't want a program checking my HDD all the time, and deleting stuff without my permision.
Any half-decent one would give you full control over all that, but ok, moving on.

I'm not going to change your opinion, I get that, it's not even my place to try. But, sometimes it's nice when people actually think about what they're reading rather than taking the high and mighty route.

Strider, you definately don't have any sense of humor.
Not at all, I just don't like hypocrites.

If virus protection is slowing your computer down, it is probably because either A) it's memory-hungry crap, or B) your computer is something awful. Like I said, it's just an extra layer of protection. No, it may not defend against the newer, nastier viruses, but typically that's what definition updates and a bit of common sense are for, no? They're small methods of defence against all the typical viruses that can accidentally be picked up from anywhere.

Fair enough that some people might not ever get the viruses, but anything can happen. What just happened to your whole "I have never been attacked by one of them." motto, eh?

So yeah, my point is simply that if you find a good program, it will do no harm to have it there just in case.
So no, I'm not arrogant for having antivirus.
I never said that, read it again.

Interesting. Can you please elaborate further on this reasoning?
I said what had to be said. They're bloated, pricey, and too Windows-friendly. They take too many liberties with your system, and are generally no better at finding crap than the free alternatives I've used.

I have a mate who was suckered into buying Norton 360 with his laptop, he's not very PC-savy and he ended up with 55gb of automatically backed up files clogging his computer, and a number of viruses he couldn't pick up.

I gave him all my favourite tools, did a full clean and his PC has been a hell of a lot cleaner and faster since. There are two pay-to-use products I do use (though I never said I paid), but they're in no way related to firewall or virus protection.

Spike, I've cleared out numerous viruses by going into the registry, disabling and removing services, fake control panel modules.. all sorts of nonsense that doesn't involve using a virus protection program. Doesn't make me a pro, makes me good at googling virus names and following instructions.

Using no virus protection, however, is just plain arrogant. It's simply an extra layer of defense against the problem, and a lot of the free software is better than the bloated, pricey, Windows-recommended ones. Biggest mistake here though, was using emule.

prop_static is what you should use for all solid, non-animated, non-moving props in your level. So those pipes you're using in the roof should be prop_static.

Some models will not work as a prop_static though, because they're designed as physics objects, or dynamic objects, in which case you should (obviously) use prop_physics or prop_dynamic. You can disable damage and movement of these prop types in the flags and prop settings.

the box office, where it really counts
Only to crappy producers, right? It's how good the film actually is (or isn't) that really matters. A film can gross millions, but still be the largest pile of crap ever produced.

There's a hint of a sequel after the credits, but it doesn't line up with the video game sequel at all, the story of the first game didn't actually come to it's full conclusion.

RE5 looks really good but the concept sounds a bit over-the-top... I mean, mutant slim spitting canines with folded back jaws of razor sets of chompers ready for your leg??
You're new to the RE universe, aren't you? :P

In previous games you come across a mutated snake the size of a bus, an equally big centipede, a shark the size of a whale, a scorpion the size of a car, giant spiders, giant frogs, giant everything. Call it over-the-top, but it's why RE rocks.

All horror games/movies are cheap scares. Horror is lame.
A lot of horror games are fun, some for the scares, most for the cheese factor. 99% of horror movies blow chunks, though, especially when they're based on video games.

See: Resident Evil trilogy, Silent Hill movie.
