One time I saw a friend of mine playing Quake 2 on his Mac laptop.... of course thats just Quake 2....

You should agline the mash to the texture. I can see little bright gray bits that seround the gun in the texture. Is that gun 2 dimentional? It looks like it's just a falt outlay of the gun with a texture on it.

- The texture on the displacement surface in the 3D skybox is stretched out too much. This is most obvious when you climb onto the sniper's tower at bombsite B.
He probebly wanted it to look like you look from far away.

Its a trick sprite that's locked to a set direction.
How do you lock a sprite on it's axis? I tried Env_beam but it screws up the sprite... only good for fire and smoke... and only in a few places..

Never heard of Avast... I have norton(not trial) and I keep it because of it's windoctor, quite usefull... well not too often...
By word program you mean like MS Word? Microsoft Word '97 is still the best 'word program' ever.

Skip it, before going into batch compiling learn the basics and after you started using the expert compiling mode return to batch compiling. You don't need it now for you're just starting and your maps aren't too complex.

I forgot to mention that Nem's compiler is also for source(not only Hl based games), which is good, if you'll want sometime to map for source. :)

I recommend Nem's batch compiler. Batch compilers don't take all the computer's virtual memory, so while compiling you can do things in the computer without interupting to compiling process. It wont whiten out and it compiles abit faster... on weak computers(like mine) it's a must.

Nope, if you use to much wads, the compiler might add wads that you haven't selected and might not exist at all.

Don't think you can use more then 8 wads because sometimes it may not affect anything, many errors might eccure because you used even 1 more wad then the maximum. I know what I'm talking about!

Just place the .TGAs and .BMPs in <modfolder>gfxenv and it will work. In hammer write what you wrote before the ft/bk/rt...ect in the pictures' names.

Doom's Wad file contains every single file of the game this includes levels and stuff. Because of that you weren't able to open it with wally. Quake's wad is probebly in the pak.(if quake has a wad at all) And duke nukem is just like doom.

Turn it into an entity for christ sake! :o You should turn it into a func_wall/illusonary. This way it will make it much easier for vis and in the end a shorter compiling time. You probebly have because of that solid ivy some leaf saw into portal vis errors that makes the compiling much longer.

That what I ment by fly back. Thats not a normal gun also the combine have.

It mostly depends on how close the shooter was too the target, the place the bullet hits and friction of the floor. :P
