Traffic lights look fine, but maybe try a transparent texture for the cable--a low-poly way to give it more appropriate "droopiness", or maybe a model too.

The lights themselves look fine, but could look much better with texturing to make them look like only 1 light is illuminated for each traffic direction. I would probably just make the light you want illuminated a textlight, or you could go nuts and add blinking red or yellow point lights.

You might also consider "skinnying up" that hydrant :P

The command failed. Windows reported the error:
"Invalid argument"
I'm not sure what's causing this, but check your Hammer Game Configurations/Build Programs, and your compile parameters.

Also, I would recommend reading the steam tutorial here.
Warning: Larger than expected texture (218412 bytes): 'GP_MENU'
Error: Bad surface extents (17 x 2)
Check the "ZHLTProblems.html" that came with the tools download, or Tommy14's error list for these last two.

The model thing never did work for me...Oh wellz.
It's fairly simple; I mean, If I can do it, then...

I can only remember doing 3 things to get it working:

1. Copy the updated--3.5--executable to your VHE directory.
2. Copy the models--CS or HL from the pak or gcf-- to your cstrike or valve/models folder
3. Get the 3.5 FGD for CS or HL.

I'm not proposing to starve anyone--they're doing that all on their own very well already.

Why make the problem bigger? A utopian welfare state is fairly plausible in a country of 9 million people, but it doesn't work for the whole of the world's population.

How about actually funding help actions to take a more active roll in preventing diseases and supplying equipment and education to local farmers?
I think no one in the world has to starve, we have the resources to supply more than enough food for everyone on the planet, it's just a matter of what we're willing to give up.
Yeah, that's a great Idea ZombieLoffe. Third World countrie's populations are increasing expoentially, despite their high infant mortality rates, and scarcely being able to feed/clothe/medicate themselves.

What your proposing is like throwing Napalm on a brush fire! ARE YOU MAD!?

That said, I have no Idea how to "fix" the problem, but I know throwing money/food at it isn't. Somehow educating third world is where to start; firstly, that having 20 kids per family might not be the best, sustainable way to live.

Teach them how to help themselves, not how to remain victims of their own stupidity Ad Infinitum.

First of all there is no might. Invevitabley, we will spawn new, exiting technologies from exploring space, but that's not why we do it--abeit that's an enormously excellent byproduct.

We explore space because it's the next frontier. Notice, I didn't say the "final frontier" but simply the next. Our future lies in the stars, just as the future of our predecessors lay in exploring Earth's oceans.

in Custom "movie" textures Post #185719
Muzzie's mehtod will be easiest probably. Add a "~+Amovie1" and then you can toggle the video on and off. You can also add "~-0movie1" through "~-9movie1" to have an two sets of frames--one "off" and one "on".

SlayerWraith did a nice example using env_renders...but he's since deleted it. Maybe if you PM him, he'll send it to you.

3DMike did this too on his cs_bikini map, but I'm not exactly sure how he did it. You could drop him an email and ask, or decompile lol.

Space exploration = waste of money
Totally untrue.

It's well know that whenever striving to discover innovations for space exploration or even more so Military technology, a treasure trove unexpected, additional wonders are discover in the process.

WWII and the space race with Russia created inventions that would prelude most of our modern conveniences today, Millions of passanger jet flights per day, and personal computers to a name just a few.

What PTS says though, I could not agree more.

The space shuttle is a joke, and pretty much always has been. The aim of the original space shuttle was to be a cheap, reusable launch vehicle with very short turn-around time.

The current shuttle never achieved this vision, and is extremely outdated. One plus about it though, that since the Saturn V rocket, It boasts more payload capacity than any other rocket to date afaik.

Programs like the VentureStar seemed promising at first, but I haven't seen/heard crap about it for a long time. Unfortuantely, largely because of the cynics--liberals--, I'm afraid we wont be testing our warp drive, or even going to Mars, or even back to the Moon any time soon.

LOL that is a huge span for such a seemingly small pole!!!

Clicky

Couldn't find any really good pics of what I'm talking about, but really all it is is two poles, some cables strung between them, and the four-way light suspended from the middle.

That link shows a bunch of different ways you can tackle the 4-way light problem. :P

Beautiful brushwork.

The poles in the first picture are cool as hell, but they look strange somehow...

Maybe one four way in the middle of the inter section would be better, strung between two poles with a cable; you could func_pendulum it a little too maybe.

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I'm usually the first to complain about overly huge images, but 800 is more than a manageable width--the length doesn't matter much.

Now, the tards that post imgages 1300+ pixels wide without thumbnailing, they really need to be sterilized/smited, or at least slapped around a bit!

the entitys that I created in it go invisible some times if you are not looking directly at them.
I was getting that too with my compo 20 map. Things I found--I think--that helped:

-make sure brush vertieces are on grid as much as possible
-use less-exotic, less-detailed shapes
-if you have 20 brushes tied to func_wall indivdually, try making them seperate and see if it helps.
If the brushes are very thin--1 or sub 1 unit-, make them fatter.

in hollowing brushes? Post #185137
Elon is the leader of our the Hollowing Preservation Society, so I'm sure he'll be able to tell you why--I haven't "hollowed" since my first nappies :P.

You can use the VM or clipping or cloning/resizing brushes to do the same thing. My personal favourite is the clip tool, whilst making sure there are no sub-verticies--in other words, no brush corners off the grid (at the smallest grid size).

Le monsters won't show up if your playing DM, unless you type mp_allowmonsters 1 in the console.

I'm not really experienced with monsters, but also don't give them a name if you want them to spawn right away, otherwise they'll be waiting for a trigger.

Do you have a cell phone?

I get unlimited quasi-broadband for $5/month--about 20KB/sec, but it's prolly faster now, as I haven't used it in a while, and the speeds keep increasing--that I use when I'm away from a better source.

Even that would be an improvement over what you're using.
