If I had a nice view out of my window like that, I'd take a photo every day at the same time for a year and then make a timelapse.

I like the wash basin in the last photo. Even if it kind of looks like a tombstone.

Or you could, you know, use what's known as the "cordon tool".

I'm inclined to think the main cause of your problem is that your map is too large. :P

As I was thoroughly inspecting Archie's excellent screenshots (I wouldn't expect less from a photography-oriented person like him), I had so many nitpicks I realised why I don't map anymore (I mean FFS, why do none of the window sills and lintels line up with the edges in the rows of bricks?? Change those heights, man!). I do that to my own maps too and end up giving up in despair.

That half-motivated me to try my hand at participating until I realised that, because I have a final next Friday, then it's my birthday, then I'll spend Sunday sleeping, I'd only have two days to make a map - IF I don't have to work on those two days. So... maybe I'll make a drawing and post that instead.

I hear it was a collective map pack where several mappers tried their hand and they all mysteriously died.

Exactly!
But the school looks more like a jail, rather than a school xD
Yeah I can actually imagine the inmates in it, smoking and selling drugs at the stands and all with the same colour overalls and the guards watching from afar.

After all these years, I just realised that button_target refers to a button-type of [gun] target, rather than a button's target entity, which didn't quite make sense to me.

in Exist textures these kid of textures...? Post #333427
There is no such entity. Make the brush a func_button, but there is no "Shootable" flag. You need to set the "Health" attribute:
Health (health) - If the button has to be shot, rather than pressed, specify a value greater than 0 here. When this amount of damage occurs, the button will activate*.
*Which also includes changing its texture if you set the proper texture. It doesn't need to target anything.

You will find it done in this map: http://twhl.info/vault.php?map=5463 (see monitors)

in Im gonna make a map of my school Post #333401
I once tried to make a map of the school I attended. Not because I hated it, but because it had a very interesting architecture - or lack of. At a glance it appeared to be a random mashup of hallways and classrooms built as they were needed, and the layout was quite random. As a HL map it never got far, though. I actually liked that, there was always something new to discover or a new area to explore. As much as I wanted to, despite how extensively I tried to explore it, there are still parts of it I never saw or set foot in. Such was the charm of that mysterious maze of a school.

You, however, seem to have different reasons. It appears there is a lot of anger inside you and I personally believe you should let it off in a different way. But that's beyond me. So I'll just say have fun without harming others.

Not sure, but it may respawn correctly if somehow it falls off the map into the void. Probably someone more knowledged can confirm.

If you're running it in your own computer, that's exactly the reason why you can connect. Because the connection does not leave the computer.

You must be behind a router. You have to configure port forwarding in your router settings so that it directs incoming connections to your computer.

Go here: https://portforward.com/ports.htm
Select either Half-Life or HL/Source or whatever game you're trying to host, then your router, and follow the instructions there.

At least 75% of work I start that doesn't "have" to get finished never does.
I was going to say something like this, sort of like I get things done if someone needs it or is looking forward to it, but... no. It's not just that.

On thinking that, I realised I don't know either.

It may be being old, but lately nearly everything I do gets pushed through on the thought of "if I don't finish this I won't get paid at the end of the month". Yeah that sucks. No, I don't know how to fix it. Yes, I too will keep an eye on this thread.
This post was made on a thread that has been deleted.

It's been forever since I did it but if my memory serves me right, you copy the pointfile along with the bsp to maps and in the game you use "loadpointfile" in the console.

I'm surprised many of you didn't know this. I'm pretty sure I learned it here.

It's useless in Hammer. Load it in-game. Noclip and follow it. It will go all over the place, but eventually, it will go right through your leak.

I did fire once. Don't worry, no bullets involved. It was an empty shot. We even saw a demonstration of how soldiers advance through the battlefield.
I'm told empty shots can damage the firing pin due to inertia and it not encountering resistance (i.e the bullet casing in its path). Even leaving that aside, this is not how firearms are supposed to be handled. This is worrying to say the least.

To be fair I just remembered I also took the first shot on a super full moon, so there can't be a big difference. So for it to really be noticeable I'd have to take another shot at the apogee and compare those. I read the difference in size is of about 14% between extremes so it should be more obvious. Alas, the next micro full moon doesn't happen until July 2018.

Turns out it IS bigger!

In order: A shot from August 2014, a shot from today, and a size comparison between the two (both a 100% crop at 135mm). Should have borrowed that 200mm with 2x extender again...
