That it will be even better if you'll enter. You'll have a perfect chance to practice 3D skyboxes.

Compotition aren't only about winning. They are more about practicing and gaining that power to finish maps or mods in time or at all, well atlist they are for me.

4thgen: No I'm sure it doesn't turn on. I don't know whats my graphic card, all I know it's quite new and Direct3D worked before. Before I rebooted, I had a virus called SpyAxe which made me reboot my computer, apart from that I can't remember anything bad that heppend.

As for a name...well, I couldn't think of one so I just copeid this name from another thread.

After I recently rebooted my computer Hl1 has many problems. I can no longer use direct3D(I couldn't use openGL even before) so I have to use software. If I try to use direct3D it gets stuck in the loading screen. (the game starts but all I see is the loading screen) Also the flashlight usally doesn't work and when it works I can't turn it off.

For gods sake stop using those horrible lans flares. If you know how to enter the flare menu and place them it doesn't mean you always have to use them. They are for the sunlight not muzzleflashs. :

Yeah, I remember when TWHL was a bit more alive. Now it's almost dead, sometimes dead. If it weren't to andy it would have been dead all ready. :tired:

It's very strange but I've got an award and I don't think I deserve it. I always forget to comment on maps and it takes me too long to finish my tutorials. Thats it I'm finishing them now! :nervous:

As for spamming, I think it's bad and it shouldn't be encourghed(I spam too and it's bad) but when people start saying stop spamming, ohh, another useless thread they spam themselfs. I myself try to stop spamming, sometimes when I really want to say something offtopic I think a bit then copy it to the PM then delete it for I understood that it's stupid to do it.

I forgot to tell you that to stop face splitting you can turn entities into func_walls or any other entity, entities are ignored by vis. You can also place the world brush away from the wall so there will be a little gap and the faces wont be splitted. You can also clip the parts that touch the wall(make sure they are kept) and turn them into func_wall. Entities don't cast shadows(only if you choose the 'concave' zhlt flag but it takes more time to compile and it's not as good as a regular shadow) so this is why it's good to leave a world brush sometimes.

Since vis ignores entities all they're sides are rendered. The 'null' texture (make one or take it from the ZHLT.wad) discards of a face so put it on faces you'll never even see. All to optimize your map. ;) Also they block leaks so you can put that texture on world brushs that are open to the void.(just remember it will be quite ugly if the player sees it, it looks like you noclip into the void, so never let him see that texture) :glad:

Base maps are sepposed to be as blocky and basic as possible, gives more room for originalty and the builder's imagination, it should only be the very basic layout of the level. So it should take you a very short time to make it. :)

The problem is called the same in both tools. You have to many leafs:

This image is an example top-down view of a complex room.

The pink area is the room, the blue area are the walls.

The main big room is one leaf, each alcove is a leaf, but the big leaf joins all the little ones for a total of 32 portals.
New leafs are created when a face is splitted by vis so it wont render the parts that aren't seen cause they are hidden by a world brush.(regular soild that isn't an entity) Also each texture is in a specifaied size.(16x16 for example) If you use a 16x16 texture on a 512x512 wall(the size doesn't really metter it's just have to be bigger then 16x16) ,without aglaining it, the leafs will be broken to 16x16 leafs. To prevent this scale the texture a bit bigger(using the texture application). This maybe the cause of your error. ;)

Game entities can only be triggered by a player.(by pressing a button/trigger) This means they need to know which player activated them. (if they have a "all players" flag then tick it and it will work on all the players, you wont have to make the player activate a trigger/button)

I think that spawn points can activate game entities too, but I'm not sure. I know that the info_player_deathmatch can trigger stuff. ;)

SpyAxe 3.0 is a spyware disguised as a antispyware. I tried all these programs, many found SpyAxe but couldn't deal with it. So I reformated my computer. Everything is fine now. :)

Ok I fixed the bit with the scientists but still can't get it to say access granted. I looked in the original game and that was the buttons sound, I choose this sound and it just played a sound similer to the keycard sound... I think I can do with that sound but still it would be nicer with the access granted sentance... :nervous:

What is this program? My mother work me up and said a popup poped in the computer saying that if she wont download a certain program that will delete a virus that we have in our computer we will be flooded with porno popups and stuff... Since my mother doesn't know a thing about computers she pressed yes. Now this program is in my computer, I can't remove it(tried already), it actually took over my computer...internet explorer doesn't work and instead of showing yahoo(my home page) it shows a diffrent page. This isn't a big problem since I use opera. Now it floods my computer with blank popups and windows update is going mad. I really don't know what I've done but this SpyAxe program poped up and started scanning my computer. (It took it only a few moments which looks pretty suspisios to me) It says I have viruses in my computer. I'm not sure I should try to clean them with this program for if this program is the spyware who knows what might heppen also some of them are in the system folders. Please help me!!! :nervous:
