All of this could easily be done in the span of an hour or a little more. At the mose approaching perhaps 2 hours if you recieved an above-average amount of really good entries.
Are you fucking kidding me?!
To properly review a map, not to mention a whole mod - you have to play it for at least 2-3 times, to get to see every little detail, that might have costed the author some effort. Then, once choosing the trophy-winning entries, you are most likely to look through the custom stuff, the map/mod has to offer (like .wads, sounds, etc.), to get a better view of the ammount of time/effort spent on the entry.

1-2 hours?! Dude, judging 3 entries is one thing, but judging 10 or more entries in a row is fucking hell.. If you want an accurate evaluation - you'll have to check it out again tomorrow, maybe even a few days after.

Fuck it, you're one of the most active reviewers in the MV - you should know stuff like that.. :

I love the detail and great use of your hi-res textures, although I must admit, that I don't really like the whole HL2-ish urban/industrial theme. I know, that it's HL1, but still.. It might just be this screenie, although the whole texture detail, collapsed concrete to the top left, the planks and the lighting to the far-left really make it look like the default HL2 look, that most custom Source maps have. :zonked:

in Jack Thomspon May Be Sent To Jail Post #201065
Jack Thompson is a retard.
Video games are labled with ratings, warnings, and health issue banners about extensive exposure and seizures, as well as the stunts performed and the mischief caused. All gamers know to game responsively. If a person kills a guy over a game of hldm or something, blame the person, not the game DUH!
Maybe we should go for the ciggie-like warnings, that cover up 2/3 of the CD cover, to prevent stuff like that?
"Playing GTA seriously damages your health."
"2 out of 3 GTA players murder people in real life"
"Each pack of GTA contains:
100 ltrs. blood
10 t explosions
...and a shitload of violence"

Oh yeah.. That'd help the retarted addicts understand, that you don't get 10.000$ for murdering your classmate. :sarcastic:

The halflife.wad contains the main textures used in most of the HL mods, including HL.
cstrike.wad (in your half-life/cstrike dir.) has some cs-oriented textures.

It's ok.
Since the map won't have any player action, only camera work - I've decided to scrap em' and use a completely different setup.

Thanks for the great suggestions anyway. :)

Increased the hold time.
That didn't change anything at the 4th camera.

I've tried re-playing the level with 'developer 3' to see, if the camera's been triggered again.

The weird thing is, that when the 4th camera goes out - the info_target of the 3rd camera is triggered. And I have no ents, that would trigger the info_target.. Maybe that's the problem?

The camera is triggered by a multimanager.

It sounds like the camera is being triggered a second time 1 second after it starts...
I've already overlooked that. No additional triggering.

Moved the camera to the 1st path_corner, adjusted the initial/acc dcc speeds - it's still the same.

I have 3 more cameras in the map, that are triggered before the problem-causing one. Maybe there's a limit, or something?

The 'Texture' render mode is for glass and other transparent objects. If you want the blue parts of the texture to be transparent - use 'Solid', with 255 FX ammount.

Ok, I'm trying to make a pretty simple ent setup.
A camera is triggered, it follows a set of path_corners and has a func_train, as it's target, following another set of path_corners.

I've tried to get this work, although the following problems occur:

1. The camera won't even start at it's path
2. The camera's hold time is set to 20, although it actually works for like 1 second..

I've tried everything to fix it. I've re-created the camera entity, I've experimented with triggering times, etc. I searched the forums, although no answer..
The camera has 'Freeze Player' ticked in it's flags and the acc/dcc speed is '100/2'.

Any ideas? :(

Well it was pretty much the same, when Valve released BS and Opfor for HL1. The engine wasn't brand new, although they were still considered as new games, not to mention, that 50% of the overall CS servers are still playing 1.6 nowadays.

The HL1 engine was both a visual and a technical breakthrough. So was the Source engine and I think, that it still is (name at least one engine, that looks that good, has such realistic physics, character animation, etc and doesn't require a powerful computer to run properly.)

I'm pretty sure, that the Source MP mods will be alive for another 10 years, or so. :glad:
