1. make sure you're compiling full vis & rad
2. make sure you're not using any prop/model textures on brushes
3. place and build cubemaps
4. Close game.
5. Open game
6. Load map
7. Stop whining because you don't know how to use source tools.

Sorry. I could only last 20 minutes.

30 of the same stuff is far, far too much.

The production quality was superb. A tad below Idiots 2, but still great...

awh. spag beat me to it.

And no, there is no easier way to get another games' content into the game you're mapping for, but note that base HL2 content is available in ALL source games.
Also note that if you DO use another games' materials, the end user will have to as well, which is a pain in the arse.

I've never been drunk in my life. And I think the last thing I'd do while partying is log onto TWHL
You kinda defeat your own argument. Popping on a laptop to banter people on MSN and checking various sites seems like a pretty good idea after a bottle and a half of scotch down your neck.
House parties have extravagent periods and then calm periods. Internetting and texting is pretty common in the calm.
Perhaps it is you who needs to aquire said life and go to more parties?

HOLY COMMUNITY INPUT, BATMAN!

That's right, YOU, the community (Especially you, Adrian,) can now be part of this campaign of epic proportions.

Here are the ways in which you can be included:

1) as writing on the wall in the safe rooms. You know the type. Chicago Ted and his crazy promises.

2) as a DVD/game box with title and imagary of your choice.

Throw your suggestions at me to get included

it's the same on any pc :/

Remember that vista isn't the only thing that you're starting up. All your background programs are as well.
All your startup programs take up resources when they load up and check for updates etc.
Disable silly ones like the quicktime schedual and unnecisary rubbish like that.

edit:

although, I can still do stuff while it's doing that. it's just slower.

I need some input please.

I'm debating whether or not to add an appartment and rooftop section.
while this would offer welcome variance from the streets - location - streets - location repetition, it is already present in almost, if not all of the official campaigns.

Opinions?

an actual physical one controlled directly by the players would be inexplicably difficult to make, if not impossible.

An easier sequence using a dynamic entity like a func_door, func_tracktrain or func_rotating depending on the look you're going for would be much more plausable. Have a button that triggers it to move back and forth and delay the door from breaking until the sequence is complete.

You can learn about these entities in our guides
