So I got system shock 2 and unfortunately, ran into this bug where I am unable to collect cyber modules. I looked it up and it turns out this bug is caused by a 'corrupted keybinds'. Totally unfair

yeah, from when steampipe first came out for the HL1 to now when they implemented it for HL2 and source, I kinda lost confidence in valve and mapping in general. It's no longer meant to be user friendly, but rather to make steampipe more appealing.

I am definitely gonna play this. I'd say this is the next big thing for the modding community 2013, because we all know DocRock is a veteran mapper and Challenger Deep 1, while not as well polished, is decently long, so a remake that's long and improved is definitely good to look forward to. I'll prolly leave some feedback on PP when I finish too.

Glad the modding community is still alive.

I suppose I'd like some insight on this, since TWHL is filled with mature peeps unlike your average forum.

You know how people on the internet troll others because they find it funny and enjoy the extreme reactions and whatnot? What if... there is a reason behind this? Perhaps trolls are like infectious zombies. You know, if one bites you and you become one yourself. It will be spreading unchecked.

Now I know what you're thinking. This isn't true because TWHL is mature and even though people here prolly got trolled before, they don't become trolls. Or at least on this site. But I think this all relates back to the human desire for vengeance.

Now I know we here are all grown up and mature, but no doubt you know some people are still young and proactive. I think that if these kids who are still young got BADLY trolled, they will have some kind of rage that builds up inside them because revenge cannot be done on the internet, especially when young kids are no match against some older troll. SO THEN they have this unfelt rage inside them, having to vent against somebody for being PWNED but nowhere to express it. So they becomes trolls themselves. Pass on the pain they felt to others, and continue this vicious and self-sustaining cycle of pain and suffering.

This is all theory, of course. I have no idea if this is true. Prolly not. Feel free to add your opinions below.

P.S. Come to think of it, this sounds alot like bullying

How about we stop complaining about the poor port which is vanilla Steam HL and play singleplayer maps and mods on the older (better) half-life,
After valve fucked away with steam HL by appeasing to the faceless penguins, I have already transferred a copy of WON HL to my computer. I love me some old software mode HL

i read the entire thread. not only is there no satisfactory solution presented, there is a link that has a valve employee's response to these complaints, and it reeked of apathy. the employee said something like "we'll consider giving you the option to disable it" or somehing like that. i am NOT happy with this. the fact that this was essentially a Silent update means that valve anticipated a negative response and decided to force it thru anyway. the solution is ridiculous. you have to opt into a steampipe beta, then uninstall and reinstall half life. even then, some ppl in the thread mention that this steampipe thing negatively affects the game performance. I suppose valve learned a good deal about public relations from their partners (EA) you know

The fact that they added HD first and the option to toggle it later would suggest that they were under some kind of time pressure, which makes no sense it's their own game and is being published on their own platform...

But as we all know, rushing has been the downfall of many games ever since atari and whatnot. Wonder what's becoming of valve.

Anyway seems most of u all agree that losing the old stuff is bad but from Valve's track record regarding source etc. We all can expect them to no longer consider the modders when they do their updates.

Back when developers were simple, games were simple, etc. etc. and then everything became the world of corporate empires demanding complete control... Someone should do a documentary on this

I think valve just forced everyone to use the HD pack for half life. Which is kinda dumb. The HD models have not all the animations that the original has, which will break alot of mods. I dont get why they suddenly decide to do this all of a sudden when anyone could just easily download the HD pack from steam, but now EVERYONE is FORCED to use it. what the f

gamefront (formerly known as filefront) is a pretty useful site filled with hundreds of downloads for half life modding (mods, custom content, lots of stuff). Think of it as part-planetphillip, part-gamebanana, and part moddb.

Not sure why they block some countries but most of the mods they have can be also obtained from planetphillip and moddb so it's not a huge blow to mod lovers.

Could someone add an attachment (or fix the one in it) on this model? Otherwise there's no muzzle flash when you shoot it in game. The attachment is supposed to be where the muzzle flash is.

ironsites require that EVERY non melee weapon be added with the animations (like 3-4 extra animations on EVERY weapon in the mod). If you look at the v_models in paranoia or cry of fear you will see it. If you want ironsites then you would have to model it all yourself.

I'd suggest just sticking to adding the weapons and monsters you already modeled. If you want, I could download ur mp5k and add it into a dll for you, to see what it's like.

A system restore to 2 days ago solved the problem immediately.

Are the 16 buttons on an elevator panel that takes u to different floors? If yes, I'd highly recommend you don't do this because the ability to press tiny buttons on a keypad in Goldsource is very bad.
