I believe in Christmas seeing as it happens every single year. I like Christmas day because its the one day of the year I'm not paying out for fucking Christmas day.

SPOILER: Christmas is a ball ache when you get your own place.

Sometimes it takes more that just time to write reviews and give scores. To give fair judgement you need to be in the right frame of mine, play through multiple times and actually write things out. Not to mention work (as you said) and other commitments, hobbies and life in general.

Just ask myself or any other member of the MOTM team. Its damn hard.

You can use features from any official source games you have installed. When serving a game, make sure you don't use features from games your buddies don't have. If they just have HL2 they won't be able to see models from TF2 or CS:S.

Also, use the edit button. Don't double post.

I understand the irony of that seeing as this double posted but I am sure a mod will fix this. Thanks.

Hmmm, sounds like Left 4 Dead...

Also, you have broken a major rule of mapping. "Do not fill it with crates!"

I can see a crate in every single screenshot and it doesn't look good. The city itself looks Ok aside from being a little basic and you've already said the textures and sky need reworking so thats good. Just make sure you change the lighting when you change the sky. :P

Yeah but consider the vorts extra arm and the fact that his limb joints bend in the opposite direction to that of a human.

If you wanted it to look and act like a vort, animations would need tweaking.

The main issue with that model would be the skeletal system and animations. Converting the islave to a player model would also mean recreating all 100+ animations to work with that skeleton system.

There was an alien slave player model with the PS2 version of half-life but that only had animations suited to its unique attacks, not for use with HLDM's other weapons.

Yeah, you've already asked this...

However now that you have you have illustrated how you want your characters and skin .vtf's to look then I believe that could actually be sorted with simply remapping the textures in each of the 9 models in a 3d program such as 3DStudioMax.

There are plenty of tutorials around for that software. However to actually utilise the edited models you will need coding. That involves editing the games .dll's using c++ or some shit like that.

Once again, theres tutorials all over the net.

in Removing Directional effects in Half-lif Post #259022
uhm...in the WON version the music files were on the CD.

Besides ATDestroy, using a .wav file to play music would be a bad idea. For one thing, your talking a pretty hefty file size and then obviously theres the directional issue you're having (as I have noticed myself in the past)

I personally have a problem with downloading a load of custom content to my valve folder for a small map.

There's always spirit and the mini-mod format. Then you can use mp3's.

Sorry, i just like mini-mods. :)

in Two 'citizen_sheet.vtf' files? Post #259020
That would require you to edit the model in some way. Zombie Master uses a system where each citizen (9 males, 9 females) had different outfits so that they look like regular civilians. HL2 just swaps the heads over and use the same body model. When browsing the Zombie Master model folders i noticed that each outfit was applied to an individual model. It may be possible with hexxing though.

However, to include it in the game engine then somewhere along the line you will need to do some coding.

in We're Not Wasting Time at TWHL Post #258874
I have a Facebook account, a Myspace page and a YouTube Channel. I'm also a TWHL member.

Guess which one I visit more often. ^_^

In all honesty I guess TWHL and indeed many other sites on the Internet have helped me develop my social skills. I joined up when I was in college and the only people I spoke to were guys I already knew from secondary school. I was quiet, shy and a lot of people took advantage of me, especially my ex-girlfriend (keep it in context please, don't be a dick)

However over the course of 6 months after joining up I became comfortable with the community. In person I became cheeky, obnoxious and very arrogant. Eventually I ended up failing the course because of my attitude towards the work but I had more friends than I had ever had before and I can honestly say that I don't regret a thing. I've met a lot of great people on this site and despite meeting in person (except in the case of Tosse) I consider a few of you as good friends. There are a lot of good people here which is why I have kept my faith in the community when things have gone to shit in the past.
