Hammer is not open source, but the source code for it has leaked multiple times over a few versions (GldScr->Src), so there is always the possibility whoever is modifying Hammer has stumbled upon this code.

Just curious, did you use the included Worldcraft/compile tools, X-Layer? Or the official build of Hammer and its tools?

Ima give it a whirl myself once I look through all of the beta content.

This is something I always wondered myself. My guess is was that they left it in from previous incarnations of Hammer (maybe with the intention of allowing HL2 to use WADs) but probably just remained unfinished and left behind.

I too thought it may only be compatible with RMF's or some weird combo, but I never got anything out of it.

Half-life Source doesn't make use of it either, instead having all its textures converted to VTF format.

He said he never tried it yet, how would he even know? =] The interface is simple enough for a complete beginner to modeling to pickup and create something simple. It has simple features, and is powerful enough to create physics objects in Source, but not powerful enough for Ragdolls , as well as no possibility of animating.

I have used it to create a handful of physics props for my mod already, as I like its simplicity for easy and quick needed props.

Never tried it for HL1 either, and just want to say if you are looking for intricate features to create complex models then this is not the program to get the job done.

Yep. Similar to how the HL2 Vanilla versions Bunny Hop also got removed.

My disk version of Half-life that installs to D:/SIERRA allows bunny hop before the 1.009? Patch is applied. Sorry, I don't really remember the versions or which one exactly removed it. Any non-steam HL should have it as long as you no update it. =]

Damn you guys got issues.

A quick fix is to create a 2007 mod as it still works (Like I said in the Compo31 thread) then compile using any version of the SDK through VBCT.

It must be a 07 mod, not 07 defaults. Hammer will work this way, perfectly normal.

Yeah, he is saying the decals and sprites that puff out when shooting the array of materials available in source are an array of fruity colors (Not just green for me). This happened to me before when compiling HL2 06 maps with a later compiler. For some reason, it only happens in certain areas, maybe light affects it? I am not sure, but my dirt puffs red, yellow, green, and blue.

Anyone wanna share what there map's setting is shaping out to be so far? Mine turned out to be outdoor/indoor lab type place, and many textures are coming in handy in strange ways. func_detail decals are a bit of a pain though! =]
I am really enjoying myself with this compo!

Cap'n Terror: Thanks, and yes, I do believe it is much easier to make a water slide in source due to one great console command, "sv_friction". By default it is at 4, so if you put it at something like 0.1 you will be sliding all around uncontrollably, ha.

So all those triggers you see on my slide simply toggle the friction way low, and then toggle it back to default. I use that with an ice texture on the slide and a couple trigger_push's, as well as a trigger to force you to crouch, and you'll be sliding away in no time! =]

Big bump, but no, Ragdolls will not work correctly as a prop_physics.

If you know any C++ I can help you code the function you desire, however, as I have already looked into it.

1. Only by modifying the Source code. My mod currently lets you level up, and each time increases your Max health. If you have a grasp of C++ at all I can aid you.

2. You mean the actual player model? Or having any type of glow sprite (what have you) around the player? The easiest way would be to code your own function, but I know the I/O system has the ability to render props different colors at your whim, might apply to Player models if you used the !activator function.

3. Env_fade was mentioned, but I never knew it could do colors other than black. If that doesn't work, you could always used env_screenoverlay entity and create your own green texture to use with it.

4. If the player_equip doesn't work, use a point_servercommand with your trigger to just give the !activator any weapon of your choice.

5. Easily done with the Func_brush entity. Just toggle it with a trigger after 5 seconds, too easy.

Vista is garbage. Infinitely times better then 7? I really hope you're joking.

Also, you list all these supposed problems you have had with 7, yet I have yet to encounter any of those, so I am suspecting your hardware is the issue. Funny thing is that many of those issues you mention I did encounter with Vista.

And your comments on XP, "let alone used for anything useful? Sure... wasn't like Half-life 2 was developed on XP machines or anything...

BTW, good mention on the Texture Maker program. Definitely is sweet.

Yeah....ok, this just happened recently, all of my icons (weapons like the pistol) all of a sudden changed to letters of the ABC's such as d for the pistol, and instead of a crosshair, its a Q. But this is screwing with other mods too...and I am confused

Alright, I have been wanting to know how to do this for awhile. I want to make, let say, a small building with a window in the ceiling (so you can see outside, blah blah) and I want to make it so when I walk through a trigger, the window will break and Ropes will drop down through, then combine will slide down on them. I really need to know how to do this, I have seen it in an earlier map, yet I cannot find it :( :confused: Please, an explanation, or if you could Really help me out fast, an example map would be greatly appreciatted. PLEASE! please tell me how :P

Yes, I have had a problem where if I use Hammer for about 10 minutes, it will either freeze (Mouse pointer doesnt move, nothing works, etc) or it will freak out (When you save, it doesnt save, it acts like every program for steam is uninstalled) All you have to do for this is close down Steam, re-open. BUt its really anoyying when you put alot of work into a map, then all of a sudden it freezes, or the PC shutsdown. (yes I save often :P ) but.....whats the problem? How do I fix? should I install another fan for the proccessor? what DO I DO! ahhH HELP ME! :(

...ok...ok....my hammer has been screwing up in so many different ways lately.....first it wouldnt view in 3D (plain black screen), then it wouldnt load a wad file (just crash) then it wouldnt open....then it would LAG like hell....and so on.....but here is what I need help on. whenever I try to load a map it just says it expeiriences a problem and will need to shutdown.......DAMN!!!!! any one knows my problem please Help Me as quick as possible.....and yes I have tried re-installing it....it is version 3.4.......thanx... :(
