Does anyone know a way to add chat commands to a source map? Like for example if the player says "-heal" then give the player 100hp :hammer:

OK, I want to make one of those valves that require the player to hold in 'USE' to get a door to open fully,
And if the player releases 'USE', the door starts falling and the valve turns the other way.

If anyone knows how they do this, please tell

Like, a npc_citizen jumping across a gap, or just jumping into the air ?
(preferably over a gap)

Well, I can't get the parented scipted_sequences to work, but I've found an alternative which has the effect I was looking for:

Its not perfect, but it works for what I need it for,

1 npc_citizen
1 npc_bullseye partented to the npc
1 ai_goal_follow: Affects: npc_citizen / Targets: npc_bullseye

this makes the npc_citizen try to get closer to the npc_bullseye as the bullseye continues to move away from the citizen (keeping its distance)

This solution isn't exactly ideal, as I think you have to make the npc_bullseye move to make the npc_citizen follow it,
This can be done with a scripted_sequence to move the citizen. This will then move the bullseye and the citizen will try to follow it, (infinitly)

I'm still trying to find a better solution, as most AI things, such as nearby enemies, will take priority over the movement.

Hey, I was messing around with npcs and scripted_sequence's and I wanted to parent a scripted sequence with its target,
so that as the npc tries to walk to the scripted_sequence, it will move away from the npc and so the npc would keep walking for ever.

The problem is that when the scripted_sequence is triggered, the npc walks to it, stops where the scipted_sequence would be if it wasn't parented, and then sort of teleports the same distance forward.

Its kinda hard to explain, but here is the .vmf and .bsp :

I actually quite like a lot of emo music, though I don't have straight black hair covering part of my face and I tend not to cut my wrists skin deep to make people notice me,

About 47 seeming younger, maybe it is supposed to be his early years?
I fucking hope so.
But I thought 47 had no "early years" cos hes a clone,

I hate to say this, but I think a completely bald Bruce Willis could look like 47... maybe?

The action didn't look so bad to me.

The one thing I am dreading is a possible love story, (because it seems that every movie has one).
I think that a love story could be pulled off well in this movie, but I doubt it will be.

I for one luv Hitman, I have only played the first one and Contracts.
Agent 47 is one of my favorite game characters,
and if they keep his character and the basic plot the same as in the games, it has potential for a good movie.

But I think we all know that will never happen. :cry:

Hi, I've been off for a long while cos my Hammer isn't working :
and now Im pissed as hell with it so plz help me out!

OK, when I open SDK from Steam, it crashes before it opens, but that can't be fixed, so here's what I'm asking:
Is there a command to open Hammer specificly, with opening the SDK menu? For example "SDK -game hammer"

You could do this with HL1>>
Create a shortcut to hl.exe and in the properties, add "-game cstrike" to the command line and it would open straight on Counter-Strike.

So is it possible to create a shortcut to SDK and add something like "-tool hammer" to take me straight to Hammer without having to open the SDK menu?

Heh, turns out I was using OpenGL, so it didn't help the max veiwable distance :

I also tried higher resolution, but that just makes the "cut-off point" for your view far less jagged, which is improvement after all ^_^

I'm sure now, the only way to change it is to decompile the map, which I don't like doing.

Hey :)
In surf maps in 1.6, I can not see across the whole map,
after a certain distance, everything just cuts off into air.

Is there anyway, like a console command or something, to change how far a player can see.

Thanks for any help ! ^_^

(PS These aren't my maps, so I can't set it in Map Parameters or whatever you use in hammer)

Remember that life can only be created in certain enviroments.
Water is needed (at least we think so) and should therefore not be too cold or too hot.
I don't see how we can make claims like that if we have only ever seen life on Earth,
Of course we (and all Earth creatures) have evolved by depending on water, probablly because the Earth is 70-80% water :|

So we should not make assumptions about the universe based on what we see here. :)

When I startup SDK from Steam, it shows the loading dialog, then it "preforms an illegal operation" and crashes, any ideas ?

I would prefer not to re-download all of it, because South African Internet is oppresive :|

That must have been when I was around 8
And when I tried to create an account on War3 Battle.net, it was taken (obviouslly) and so I added _101 to it :)

Hmm, well I don't know about the prison pod thing, but I think I have a way to do it:
(quite simple but I don't know if it works all the time)

I made a brush where I want the remote controls to be, and then I made the brush a part of the func_tank, so it's all on entity.

I made the tank's origin the same, so when I used the "controls" they would just swing arourd with the tank, but it seems that I can still "use" the place that the "controls" used to be, and still control the tank.

Do you have the move_rope attached to the ceiling and the keyframe_rope swinging in the air? I think that the move_rope can't have anything parented to it because it's what starts the whole rope line.
Yea, I do have it like that, and the ropes work until I parent the keyframe_rope with anything.

But I think it's just CS:S that can't do it, because I compiled the same map for HL2, and it works perfectly :tired:

Hey there :)
I already have a working func_train, which goes to 5 path_tracks in order, when you press a button.
So I want the player to be able to press the button again once the train has finished, and send it backwards over the same path_tracks.

Like so:

(PUSH BUTTON)
[func_train] ->
-track1->
-track2->
-track3->
-track4->
track5

(PUSH BUTTON)
[func_train] ->
-track5->
-track4->
-track3->
-track2->
-track1-
