in unwanted lighting problem... Post #148269
By lines, do you mean the green vs tan coloring of the ground?

Do you have any solids above that portion, one time, I got some odd shadows similar to those when I had a signature made of brushes in the air.

Perhaps remake the light and see if that fixes it.

in Wouldnt ns make an awsome movie, Post #148255
If there was a HL movie they would somehow have to make Gordon talk.. that would suck.. Good games should stay good games, not movies.. From the sounds of things they are making a Halo Movie... I think that will suck as well, the games are fun to play through, I dont think the movies will ever be as good as the games.

@ Elon - You could have booted in Safe Mode then ran those programs..
It most likely would have gotten rid of it then.
(Press f8 when booting up on most computers)
Also, Security Task Manager does a great job of closing down those programs so you can remove them with the Adware/Spyware removal programs. (Link to Download in "HL2 F*cked" thread, or in my journal)

@ Trapt - I wouldn't recomment Hijack This to n00bies, you can screw up your computer if you dont know how to use that program. Whats CW shredder, is it some kind of Cookies/History Clearing program?

@Habboi - Go to Start > All Programs > Startup and get rid of it from there, its easier than going Start > Run > Msconfig and using this Microsoft Utility.

@4thGen - Of course Vista is Insecure, they found over 40 serious security flaws, before the beta even was released.. and Its a resource hog, I wouldnt recommend using any less than 1.5 Gb RAM on a Vista machine. One + is that it supports 64 bit processing, so you can finally make use out of your AMD 64.

@all - The moral of this story is - Don't let your Mom look at pr0n on your computer.

The only value from the registry I could help you out with specifically is

Start>Run . Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run and Runonce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Sofware > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run and Runonce

You can clear out anything from here that you dont recognize, and you wont screw up your OS (look closely at the names though, sometimes, they are odd, but recognizable)

As for Half Life 2, I dont know the specific location, because
a. I'm at work
b. I don't have HL2

I don't know if that will help your situation, but it is useful knowlege nonetheless.

Why not try and wipe out all traces of HL2 manually, and reinstall it again... Im a little confuzzled by your problem.. but I think that might work.
I'm not sure why your drive got redirected from a virus.. that seems odd to me.

In my case I would just reinstall Windows, It is less of a pain than to try and fix everything a virus messes up.

Anyways, this sounds like a really neat mod.. reminds me of Fable..

Speaking of which, maybe add a twist where as you go through the plot you can turn out to be evil or good, and in the end there will be a different outcome for each path you choose...

i know, thats why I said for him to trigger a different game_player_equip (with no weapons in the properties), so you have to trigger the buttons to get the weapons.

such as in the map fun_allinone;

In this map you press a button to open a door to a teleporter, and it shoots you into a one weapon themed zone.
Whats neat is the use of kill targets. Once you open a door to one of the zones, no other zone doors can be opened.
I have a feeling that this is similar to what he is trying to do. Look for it on google and download it (I dont know exactly where to find it).

Make a separate game_player_equip and dont choose any weapons, and rename it "round_restart" without the quotes. I think I did something like that once.
or have a trigger_once under each spawn that triggers the "No weapon" game_player_equip. that would give the same effect..
I dont know if you want players to keep weapons from previous rounds, but this wouldnt work if that was the case.

o jeez.. OK beer pong is...

You set up a table (about the size of a ping pong table(duh)).
You set up any number of cups filled with any amount of beer.
ex. 6 cups filled a quarter-full with beer.
You can arrange them in any pattern on each side, pyramid is standard.
This game is occasionally played with partners.
Each have a ball, and they try and throw it into the opposing pairs cups.
If they get a ball in one of their cups, the opposing team drinks.
The game ends when one team finishes their cups.
Variations of this include rules such as...

"The Rebuttal"

The losing team has a chance to win by shooting on the opposite teams cups until they miss.

"No Bouce"

If you miss the table, you drink one of your own cups

"Blocking"

You can block the ball if it bouces first, but if you hit it before it bounces, you drink your own beer.

"Re-Rack"

You may have the other team re-rack the cups before you shoot.

There are other variations, but these are the most common.

(Sorry from deviating from the main purpose of this thread.)

The reason I said what I said was because people let the stupidest things bother them. As Kol said, talkt o the people you like, Ignore those you dont. No one is forcing Trapt to look at the pointless "Spam" threads.
My point is that he didnt have to make a thread expressing his dislike of spamming n00bs, he coulda just ignored them, and continued mapping, or asking for help from experienced mappers if he needed it, seeing as that is the purpose of this website...
In no way am I bashing Trapt, he is a good mapper. I just disliked his method of expressing his anger.. it was similar to a temper tantrum (j/k)
I do agree that there is a lot of pointless crap and non-mapping related stuff on this site, but that is why it is a community, rather than just a mapping resource.

Drama Drama Drama... This is a mapping site, I dont know why people get so emotional about stuff. I've never gotten Pissed/Sad/Extremely Happy while on an online community... I think we all need to take a step back from the emotions right now, and focus on what this site's purpose is - mapping. I have nothing against random stuff in the "General" section of the forums, but to publicly announce that you are "leaving TWHL" because someone pissed you off, thats a little extreme. Nothing against you Trapt, you have never done anything to me, but take a chill pill, and let stupid sh*t roll off your back, and map.

Here is the scenario...

I pulled out my mom's computer to try and get it working again.

I turn it on to find that there is no OS. this is correct, because i formatted it.

I dont feel like reformatting right then so i decide to toy around in the BIOS.

I Overclock it by .2 GHz and now all I get is an amber light on the monitor when I turn it on.

Here are my steps to attempt to fix it...

-Remove CMOS battery for a few minutes, in attempt to clear any BIOS information.

-Reseat the processor and heat sink (with more heatsink compound, dont worry I'm not a tard.)

-Reseat graphics card (Rage 128 if you are wondering. I know, sucky, but she isnt gaming on this PC.)

-Try every possible RAM combination/arrangement.

-Unhook all unneccessary components (second HD, second CD-ROM, PCI-USB ports, Network Card, Sound Card) so basically, all that is left is Keyboard, Video and Mouse.

-Eat blueberry cake, and have some coffee.

My boss, Dave, thinks its the Motherboard and I am starting to believe him, I just dont want to pump much money into this thing.
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. I'd really like to get her computer up and running again.
