too bad its not an option

RAR is better than zip. and the winRAR never expires, it just tells you its a trial version when you veiw RARs in their veiwer. the rest of the prog works fine.

In my early interweb days, I belonged to several flash communities. flash portals generaly work ad such.

you submit your map like you would currently. if a map is deemed to be a pile of shit it is deleted from the archive. (blammed - NG fans ;))

there is a table showing the top x maps ever, top x maps this month. where x is like 20 or somthing.

2 or 4 maps are handpicked to be on the front page of the site to get the love they deserve.

Its a tried and tested system and it would work well here. theres not that much on the front page anyhow. :/

oh yeah, because introversion went bust, actual copies of freespace are rare and because the game is so amazing, they can be up to ?120 for a regular retail edition. just be glad you didnt search for one of the special editions...

you can download it free from most abondonware sites.

The source engine IS better. you cannot deny that. there are few obsticals to overcome but there is so much more that can be done in source.

Im not just jumping to the latest fads either. my last map release? HLDM. My current project, HLSP. I map for both, and at first I didnt like source, you cant get away with such simple brushwork, you can make a wad in 10 minuites, but when you spend time learning the alternative, its better.

you say that you enjoy pushing the 1.6 engine to its limits, well that may be true, but how far does that take you? the real fun in source is seeing what you can do with the new engine, and then pushing it to the max.

HL 1.6 is great, its an engine that has stood the test of time. I have great fun mapping for it and I love its simplicity. but SOURCE. IS. BETTER.

this is a long post so you could skip the next bit. its more aimed to be direct arguments to hunters comments.

NB.
Ive noticed that all your points are opinion based hunter. you say that HL2 wasnt as good as HL1. thats your opinion.
you say that HL1 is fun to map for. opinion. I agree but its not a fact. and its kind of irelivent if I find osurce more fun to map for.
point 4 and 1 are the same thing... so Il say this. just because some kid made bad awp maps for CSS, I geuss that means its a shitty editor huh? I geuss that if hammer crashes on you you just forget all the work youve done right? Ive been mapping since hammer was born and the bugs back then, and now, are far worse than in the source SDK. not to mention the S:SDK has features that I cant map without in 1.6

TWHL - {Tuh-whul} its not an acroynm - its a word.

twhl is japanese moon slang for 'A giraffes penis' as the development name for worldcraft was 'six-foot'.

playing through freespace 1 thinking it was cool, then installing Freespace 2.

We where in a squad of hercs (bombers) attacking a 4km long battleship. we had a cruiser of our own behind us and I suddenly heard a high pitched whining sound and then a huge green line cut across my vision and cut it in half. I was like, WTF that things the size of my school and it blew up! and then an EVEN BIGGER battleship emerged from the nebula clouds and I heard the whining noise again, I moved all power to my engines and hit the thrusters like hell. It was so awsome and epic seeing two battleships fight while midget fighters swarm around them. I was doing dive bombs with my mates as well under heavy flak. the screen would be rocking and shaking with warnings going off but we just had to get close enough to drop our payload. at 30% integrity I released a bomb and pulled up, but I my freinds where too close. the explosion finished them as well as the battleship and they had to watch me do the rest of the mission. great times.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PORN.

but that is not really porn. and if you jack off to somebody shitting into their own mouth then fine but that dosnt mean you shoudl wave it around in other peoples faces. just because YOU dont find it offensive does NOT gove you the right to say what other people should and shouldnt find offensive.

also, I still think comparing sex to killingsomeone is like comparing iraq with the first world war. and the way your describing it is iraq vs a 15 rated b movie of the great war.

yeah thats right, FS and FS2 are amazing though, if you think of decent as doom, FS/2 is HL/2 (albeit without the graphical leap in between :P)

Its a very involving game, and amazingly epic. your a small fighter, about the size of a large jet, and the capital ships can be up to 30 kilometers long. also, theres beamweapons, theres a cool powering up sound and then bam! a huge energy beam wider than your ship cuts across your veiw and through the hull of said 30KM capital ship slicing it in half.

I got the same thing but steam works with us so we all play CS during computing! It rocks!

also,

YOU MUST PLAY THE AWSOMENESS THAT IS FREESPACE 1 AND 2!

Amazing engaging single player, awsome multiplayer with co-op DM and team DM missions and arenas.

Its completly free since the source was released, features shitloads of mods and campains and if you want to play at home, the SCP has modified it to graphics that exced HL2s anyday, as well as playing well on just about any crappy system.

whew, I think that got the message across!

in Mohammed caricature boycott Post #161358
well I think zombie loffes got it down here. what he says is completly true. and you guys have to remember that this caricature is insulting their GOD. for those athiests out there, thats a pretty big deal btw. not just that but their religon and country as well - all this ontop of the shit they already get.

Btw some other stuff:
1. There is a ban on drawing or painting muhammed in islam so any picture would have been offensive really.
2.The editor of the conservative daily had asked Danish cartoonist to draw Mohammed with the intention of "testing" what kind of reactions this would provoke. so its not exacly an innocent picture.
