I don't get why people from all over the globe are freaking out about the slight radiation leak. Need I remind you all that over three thousand nuclear weapons have been detonated on this planet since the late 40's?

Perhaps you should worry about the radiation from those and lay off Japan for a bit.

Sick! Reminds me of some of the DoD textures I used to use to make CZ maps because I loved that European stone and plaster look. White walls with deep wooden frames and stone foundations, dreamy.

Sounds fair to me, and I'm looking farward to 1024.

Skals I like that. Reminds me of a Warhammer set piece or something. The skybox is great.

I really don't know how you can hope to make anything with good gameplay using only 30 brushe
isn't that the point of a challenge? Mapcore did it. That awesome cube map was a tf2 capture the flag map!

Yeah I'll upload a playable version with more playerclips/buyzones/decals and improved lighting and stuff. i missed the bit about gameplay not mattering in the judging so whatever.

if judges want i can just remove all that junk too, take a shot of the map info again, though none of it matters in the shots anyways.

and shots. players spawn to the right of the camera there, and can go three ways. right over the rocks, middle through the houses, or left which is an under/over area.

Esxcuse the ridiculous count, but I wanted to make a playable map rather than a scene or room. 10 are playerclips, two more will be buy zones when I get to it, perhaps more playerclipping will be needed before I upload it.

This was FUN!!! I might do another just for kicks!

Yeah IMHO 3D skybox should be allowed, but each brush should count towards the limit and the same rules should apply(making them effectively pointless, but whatever). So... what about props? No props, right?

in Competition 30 Post #292504
Displacements? 3d skybox brushes counts towards limit? Brush based entities count as one brush, right? Should we add a smaller prop limit as well, or say no props?

Sounds like the same sort of feature, although probably easier to find. Photoshop also changes quite a bit from version to version and suite to suite, idk if it's even in the one you have.

in Texture from photo Post #292470
Ok, it's been over a year since I last used it, but that's totally possible in photoshop. It's not going to be one step, though. IIRC, there is a way of faking 3d in photoshop that does basically the opposite of what that program is doing. It applies perspective, I guess, to a flat image. It's most likely a filter. I bet with a little ingenuity you could apply it "backwards" and "flatten" a bit of an image that has perspective. I'm sensing a lot of tweaking and cleaning involved though.

Did you try running the program in compatibility mode?

Eh? Dimbark did something that's actually really cool? Cool.

[edit] also, question 4 is worded as if Gabe was about to die. Like, he'd read that "wait a minute, what 'DID' I like to do.... OH SHI-", and then turn around to see your face and then the screen cuts to blackness. awesome.

Zeeba-G, HD57XX's are fantastic for the money now. It's about a $130 card and my 5750 runs BC2 at 1400x900 on high, with some anti-aliasing and filtering. The Source engine is unable to hitch the fps at 1400x900, with everything possible turned on and up.

That would be my recommendation, you might get others. Also good right now are the GT460s. Keep in mind these will probably not be Battlefield 3 capable cards.

in 8.9 Earthquake Hits Northern Japan Post #291475
Don't forget that if anyone can take this quake, it's Japan. They have intense building regulations and brilliant engineers designed the cities to withstand quakes and tsunamis. Because the whole country regularly practices drills for this, the death tolls are fortunately low relative to the massive scale of this quake. Nothing like what happened in southeast Asia is going on here, where everyone was lingering around where the tsunamis come in.

So yeah, it really sucks but it could have been a lot worse. Oil fires are tough, but every nuclear plant went into auto shut down just as they were supposed to.

Cap that looks pretty tight. Excellent lighting. I'm a bit confused as to what that satanic orb-tower thing is though. Looks like a creeperbot9000, jumbo sized.

Dimbark, that last shot is a pretty massive improvement over the first shots you posted here, keep it up.

I'll either go for Crysis Warhead
Don't! Save your money for Crysis 2. Warhead is short, no improvement over Crysis, and Crysis Wars is a complete ghost town. Unless you're REALLY craving that extra half-hit of the Crysis pipe I'd hold off.

Crysis 2 on the other hand improves HUGELY on the series. Doesn't even feel like the same game. If you thought Crysis was "not bad" like most people, you'll probably enjoy it a lot more.

Whether people create something as a labor of love for the community or not, they have every right to ask to be paid for hard work should they chose to. That's my two cents, anyway.

Although it is a bit of a shame about the Esther remake, this is the first that I've even heard of it.

edit: if BM:S does this I'm going to write them angry letters. And their parents, asking how they could screw their kids up. They'll love that.

IDK if there are any, but if there are, you should find some car models with open doors and put a couple in that line of stopped cars. That way it seems like everyone stopped there got out and ran in a real hurry, as if there were immediate danger. It's clear by they way you've placed them that they stopped fast, some slamming their brakes.

I'm glad you got rid of that water that used to be in the third shot. It was a nice touch, but looked SO blocky. Good call.

River looks really nice.

Know what the trailer park needs? Water spouts coming out of the ground maybe in pairs, and dumpsters. A dog house or two? Also, really nit-picking here, but black doesn't seem like the best choice for trailer's roofs, it seems like it would get hot like an oven in there under the sun.

lookin good.
