Wasn't there a source mod about vehicular combat or something? I forget, just taking a stab in the dark. Might not be what you're looking for anyway.'

Edit: I went looking for it, and found it

Never played it, so I have no idea if its what you're looking for.

in Alien Swarm Post #283430
The controls were weird for maybe 5 minutes, then they got pretty natural. Its a great game as is, just needs more campaigns.
Why are so many assholes play this game?
Because its free, and the swarm of people still trying to get the tf2 hat.

Played with a group of public people, and they killed me at the end of cargo elevator because I was getting a few extra kills for an acheivment from that near-infinite spawn at the end. I seriously wasn't doing it for more than 30 seconds, but they all opened fire on me anyway. I left.

Played with a group of public people, tried doing the same thing. Some guy starts flipping out on me over his mic for taking too long. I reply "Whats the matter, gotta go jack off in five minutes? give me a fucking break and let me get an extra 9 or 10 kills" When we got back to the lobby, I was kicked.

TRIED playing with a group of public people, a bunch of arrogant third-level promotion level 27s, who kept telling me all the weapons and items I used suck, and that I'm a "nub faggot" Might I say squad inventory coordination isnt terribly neccesary on NORMAL. I left.

Enough ranting about asshole player-bases.

tl;dr A large number of Alien Swarm players are angry little kids who wouldn't be able to afford the game, but have it anyway because its free.

The only one I can actually think of off the top of my head is Streets of Sim City. Which isn't good, or fun, or even worth downloading/buying in the least.

I never really had any car games I guess.

in Nightvision effect - how to? Post #283074
I remember op4's night vision being really weird. It acted as if a pointlight entity was following the character around. because things would just be green until you got close to them, then they'd get brighter. But I dunno, I don't know much about HL coding.

Its funny because no ones going to start their entries until one week from the end.
I was going to discuss, but then I saw grim commanding us to discuss and I taught "You are not the king of me!!!!", so I shall not discuss.
That's also why he never listens to anyone when they tell him its "thought", not "taught".

Awesome, I downloaded RPG Maker VX and am messing around with that now.

I just have to know one thing, all these gay anime-looking people, I can remove them all later, right?

Nevermind, 2 things. Can it also create isometric? and not just top down?

in Resources on 2-D RPG games Post #280618
I'm thinking of starting to make a 2-D isometric (its not 3-D per se) role playing game, after having been inspired by fallout 1 and 2.

Aside from research I'm already doing, I'm simply curious if any of the TWHL'ers know of any resources on designing this type of game, or have any experience they could share with me.

This is just a little side project of my own, I'm not in any way leaving Half Life mapping.

That first picture reminds me of the Lucky Money Club from Deus Ex. Just the way the lights look, and how the light hits that certain ceiling texture. Maybe I'm just going crazy, perhaps Potatis can vouch for my observation.

Anyway, the textures, combined with the lighting, really don't give me an impression of blocky architecture, which is good! But the chairs are in plain sight, and they ARE blocky, and it takes away from the rest of the map.

Since the new ATI drivers fixed the 3-D selection, I reinstalled hammer onto my main computer, set up everything, and downloaded the compilator, but now the compilator wont load, and according to the error message, its apparently pointing to a file that was deleted, when I uninstalled hammer.

************ JIT Debugging ************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.[/quote]

What do I need to do to fix it, modify a registry entry?

Compare to the soundmax controls, they're the same, and they change when the other changes, they're linked.

So here's the deal, I got a nice pair of Koss Pro4AA Titanium headphones, and they simply aren't putting out enough volume. I know they can go louder, but the sound controls on the computer are limiting it. I use soundmax digital audio. The volume is up ALL the way on this thing, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any way I can increase the volume put out by my computer, and therefore the headphones.
