there is no media folder in WON half life to my knowledge
To my knowledge the logo.avi file and all half-life music files are in the media folder in WON (in the PAK file). Create one yourself and look at the names of the music files in the PAK file.

I use the compilator for big maps and for final compiles, but I prefer to use Hammer when testing small maps.

Try compiling with The Compilator or with a batch file. The compile tool in Hammer sucks anyway.

Hey, that's my email!

Anyway, you can fix the problem by creating a batch (.bat) file that you put in your Counter-Strike folder. In it you write this:
@cd "%~d0%~p0"
@start "" hl.exe %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
Then you configure Hammer to use the batch file instead of hl.exe to launch CS.

Isn't ATI better at the moment? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

For gaming it's better to get a dual core CPU than a quad core. Today's games aren't made to make full use of four cores. If you would use your computer for anything else than gaming, like running servers or creating videos a quad core would be better.

Is it possible that this is the message:
"could not load library: x:/path to Half-Hife/spirit/cl_dlls/client.dll"?
If so is the case, you are missing a DLL file (not the client.dll file) or have the wrong version of some DLL.

Are you sure you are using the fmod.dll that comes with Spirit 1.5a4?
Also, in the Spirit 1.5a4 package there is a folder named "Additional Files You May Need" with some DLLs.

In my opinion playing video games is about doing things you can't do in real life.
You can kill people in real life, but if you do real people die, and that's not very fun. You also risk dying and you will probably get your clothes dirty, and that's not fun either.
You can however play a guitar in real life without any problems.

They weren't going to every player, just the entity that targeted it. So i couldn't see the messages. So basically the counters were working, its just that the texts and player_equips were not set-up properly?
Yes. When I first added a game_counter to your map in the map vault and changed the headcrabs' target to the game_counter I didn't get any messages, but I put "developer 2" and "restart" in the console and the messages told me the game_texts were being triggered. So I checked the flags and saw that "All players" wasn't checked. I checked it and tested again and it worked.

It makes all players inside and outside it (all players) trigger the game_player_equip objective2_givegun.
Game_player_equip gives weapons/items/ammo to the entity that triggers it.
You can't put objective2_givegun directly in the objective2 multi_manager, because then it won't be the player that triggers it.

Is Limit Value 10? Does the game_texts have All Players checked? Replace the old map in the map vault with the one you have now.

BTW, I just noticed I had two game_counters in my example map. One of them, the one without a name, is useless.

EDIT: I got your map working. I'll upload in a minute.
EDIT: Here it is.
I used a game_counter, and I also changed some other things.
The game_texts triggered when you have killed all the headcrabs didn't have All players checked (you need to have it checked when it's not the player triggering the game_text), I removed the weapon_crowbar game_player_equip and put weapon_crowbar 1 into the game_player_equip with item_suit (no need to have two different entities).
I also had to somehow make the player trigger objective2_gun. I solved that using a game_zone_player, but there may be a better way.

By the way, why does the wooden crate have glass as material type? :P

or something like that. Put it in autoexec.cfg. If Left 4 Dead works like all other Source games, that is.
If you want to open the console in the menu, I think you press the ' button, shift + ', shift + ?, ? or something. Doesn't always work.

Yes, you should definitely have two different game entries.
They both use the .bsp file name extension but that's all. You can't play a Half-Life map in Half-Life 2 and you can't play a Half-Life 2 map in Half-Life.

Compiling with Hammer doesn't give you many options.
It's better to use something else like The Compilator or a batch file to compile.
When you are just testing your map full vis is often unnecessary.

Remove all .cfg files from your modname, modname_yourlanguage, valve and valve_yourlanguage folders. (The _yourlanguage folders (for example valve_spanish) folders only exist if you are using another language than English.)
