Quick question to PB:
If i were to move my Sledge folder into another pc and ran it, by theory my settings would be gone ? Since the conf file is stored in an exotic location rather than the sledge root folder or am i wrong ?

in Is it possibe to use the GPU to speed up Post #317510
If the compile process can be parallelized as much as possible then the GPU would have an advantage. I don't know much about the compile process either, but i believe at least in RAD that you can start lighting calculations in different points thus having more tasks run (advantage GPU) and meet at the final point once all work is done.
The problem with having GPU do all the work, is that everything has to be uploaded into its memory before you run the task and it uses it while its compiling, so with old GPU's and huge maps you could run into problems where you run out of GPU ram.
Id love if someone made a working implementation, id also love to make this myself if i had the knowledge how to :)

For a few lights yes its possible with todays hardware, but more complex maps and more lights will end you up in the same place where you are now waiting 10mins for rad to finish. There is a reason we compile.

Textures are loaded differently, individual files instead of .wad's.
Other than that and some entity stuff its about the same.
Quake mappers use (Q1,Q2) QuArK which works very well and not so much with gs.

in Source SDK non-steam? Post #316708
Save up some money and get what games you want to develop for, Valve has made a step forward to allow people to develop for free games such as TF2 so its now even easier and cheaper than before.
We are not stopping you from using non-steam, but neither are we offering help to any problems that will arise so its your choice really.

Wait a minute. The way you put it is that Fair use would allow me to decompile models from LoL make a half-life mod using those models and then sell it, but to be fair i should not intend to make too much money.
Since the models you decompile belong to Riot and you are not the author of them neither are you licensed to use them, you can only use them for personal reasons which are strictly non profit and i repeat NON PROFIT that includes ad revenue.
I fail to see US would allow such things to happen when they already have fairly restrictive copyright laws.
Prove me wrong, link me up to some laws.

There is no such thing as "Fair use", either you are allowed to use those assets or you are not and Riot can take legal action if they wish.

Lets take for example valve, you are free to use SFM for any commercial gain, but you are not allowed to generate any kind of income using their assets(models), same with mods. The person ripping you the models and getting paid is generating revenue without acquiring a license to do so, same goes for contracts if Machinima pays you to make a series and you use those ripped models you are generating illegal gains and therefore game companies can take legal action against you, in your case id say you are lucky that they "love" your content. Im no lawyer or anything, but i think this is how it works.

The problem here imo is that it is "ok" to use in this case ripped models for any type on non commercial purpose most companies are ok with that. However if there is any kind of money involved it is not looked kindly upon and your relationship could crumble just like that.

Wow, great job PB.
Anyway what id like to suggest:
-Draw lines between path_track/path_corner and other entities that benefit from this in 3D view, also have a SHIFT drag feature like in H4 that makes it easier to make a path. (If this isn't there already i haven't tested Sledge myself yet)
-Basic entity info in 3D view
User posted image
The other 2 might sound crazy
-A WAD editor (delete/add) on the fly .wad updating just put new textures in and have them ready to use.
-Real time .wad updating, not sure how this would work, but it would be great to edit textures in PS and have them update in Sledge instantly like in 3ds max.

**SOME SPOILERS**
Finished Crysis 3 last week, gotta say its utter shite.
Its so short and so boring, they could not throw more powerful enemies at me to keep me stalled.
Graphics are ok (playing on medium so cant say much), but the only place where they could shine was the part when you just enter the dome and get a good look of the field, the rest of the game was dark.
The story to me feels like they are trying to milk the last drop the cow has, i'm sorry, but i just hate it when all of a sudden you get blasted into space to position some rediculuos satellite.
C2 was kind of acceptable in my mind.
Though nothing can beat C1, it was so long, i never expected aliens, when i got there however my eyes were blown on how awesome the interior of the alien place looked, and no bullsh*t story.
And where the hell is no-man ? This Prophet shite was driving me crazy.

in WON HL Post #312647
WON HL is in no way better than the current HL (besides the 2013 surprise from valve) period.
That being said here's why:
I really dont like the non window type ui's anymore, i feel very enclosed and a window server browser is godsent.
WON is full of non-steam hackers.
Steam integration.
Its OLD and very horrible (comparing cs 1.5 to 1.6).
Adding to being old nothing custom works on it, even maps break.
You are one of those people who got left behind by valves generational gap's. I hate that valve does this, keeps updating their old games to better fit steam, that's where the gap occurs. For example Quake II, when i first played it it was v3.20, 10 years later its still v3.20, valve does not get that they are breaking the games we like (about the 2013 update).
