I don't remember it, but I'm sure your room compensates for that.

Edit:
I blame TWHL for my failure at the Philosophy exam tomorrow. I can't help but work on my room. Even I'm starting to like how it's turning out. I just have a "Too many entities on visible packet" and I need so many more... what can I do about that?

in Problems with LAN network Post #274376
Indeed, most. But not some. If you want to be sure that it'll work, you need a crossover cable.

Take the cable you're using and move the plug boots back. If you're using a straight cable, it'll have a hardon both plugs connected symmetrically: 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. (look at the wire colours). I don't remember the exact configuration for a crossover cable, but it should be almost the same except for two pairs that are switched: i.e 2 to 6 and 3 to 5 or something like that.

However, if you say you can transfer data between computers, whatever config you're using works well. But I'm no network admin so I only know so much. In fact, I have two computers (XP and Vista) on LAN through a router and I can only "see" the other computer, but can't do anything else. If I need to tranfer a file, I either use a flash disk or fire up msn and transfer that way (f'd up isn't it)

Yes! I vote for the ambient_generic way, although it'll be bad for the final file size.

Wait up a bit!! My room isn't done yet... Progress has been slow, homework is killing me... but I feel I can almost touch the final version of it...

Also, it appears many users suffer from issues like not being able to register their game, not being able to update their game and not getting any support from the developers.
And what's new? Wait... did you mean "legal" users?

That situation rings a bell.

I would rather burn most things from my childhood.
My father would rather burn most things from my childhood. Or rather, abandon at the old house when moving to a new one so it's the demolition crew that has to afford getting rid of it, which is what happened with half my stuff three or four months ago.

What were we in...? Oh, right, Sim City. I found a way to get rid of those pesky soviet-like buildings... back in my day, soviet Russia was something that was far, far away...

I started back in the time of SC2000. I didn't understand what the heck was it about or even how did it work, and I got terribly frustrated that I wanted to place buildings and the only thing I was seeing was coloured rectangles.

Then came SC3000. I still didn't have the slightest idea on how to make it work, until someone insisted that I waited some time after placing the coloured rectangles. The buildings slowly began appearing and I started to like it. Still, I had no idea how to play and so all my cities went bankrupt in mere months.

When I was starting to get it, SC4 came around. I was absolutely thrilled and I still play it (and none of my cities have gone bankrupt in quite some time).

Now Sim City has taken a different direction and I'm not interested in the latest version. Now I see this... and it looks very promising. Except that I imagine I'll need about 10 concurrent quad-core processors to handle everything I see in those screenshots. I'd totally try it, out of curiosity at least.

freezes and imagines a microscopic scale map

I am totally going to make one!!!
It's been done. I had named it cs_godzilla and it was complete sh!t. The textures looped so much that it slowed everything down and stuff kept disappearing on me even though it was a rather small map. I highly doubt I still have the rmf for further analysis.

I see some realistically shaped areas there: West Angelstate looks a bit like Alaska and the unoccupied land next to New Jeffmodia vaguely looks like a flipped Germany + Denmark.

I'm sure I do have CD music on. Makes sense that mp3 playing was only implemented for Steam HL, hence I expected the commentary to be under \sound\whatever.

Same as Mighty Atom here. Works fine on WON HL, except for the audio commentary which is completely absent. Only after reading your post I noticed the "media" folder, and it is indeed all there. Unfortunately, I can't test in Steam HL (I think I've already told why) so this is all I have.

Edit: Although a bit hard to understand (esp. :10 - :15), thanks for the audio comment blush :glad:

You need to compile your map. Compiling is the process in which your map is converted from a bunch of blocks, lights and player spawns into something playable in-game. I'm sure there are tutorials for compiling, take a look into the tutorials section on the left :)

I did get an error actually. But it was just for one file. Unless it doesn't know when the download is incomplete and there are more files missing (I thought there'd be some kind of index?)

Cool! That means I don't need to say I click (shoot) "Audio commentary" and then "confirm".

I did wonder whether it might be related to the download getting cut off short. I'll try to download it once again just in case it can catch 3 or 4 extra kb :P

30MB of Disco music?? I really hope that's not related to my room.

//Edit:
(no spoilers here)
After 3 or 4 download attempts (the download kept cutting off short) I finally got it... I think.

General notes: This is looking good. I love the menu, although I couldn't get the audio commentary to work. On a second thought, maybe there isn't one - I haven't found anything commentary-related in the downloaded files. That, or the download stopped too early again.

Mapping notes: Jeff's new old room (1st Jeff's) looks much more interesting now. I've noticed there is a very misaligned texture in his second room. Also, where is Striker's room? It appears in the credits but after leaving my room, I get teleported back to the first room.

Remember to have the hatch before room 5 open the other way so it doesn't get in the way. And the little hallway before room 7 could use more clip.

And now I'll try to get something useful done in Hammer before the day is over.
