And buy a used card. Much better option for that budget.

I paid mine Gainward GTX295 60 euro.

Micro$oft will get a big d1ck up their ass when steam for Linux comes out as well as other things.
Flash went gay and doesn't make any updated for Linux.

I don't even know what Micro$oft wants to accomplish with their new half assed windows systems.

As far as I'm informed all WAVs up to 44kHz should work.
But, i always use a different setting and it always worked for me, this is the setting i use:

12kHz 16bit MONO

Convert the sample, or upload it i will do it for you.

Just give light and sound the same name. No need for multi manager.

Set the ambient_generic flags to start silent and range(that you wish) and give it a name.

I support this and i will definitely give it a try.

in Need help with decals? Post #310912
When making decals, first construct the part of the image you want to be visible as one layer and the transparency as an other layer and simply insert it into the image.

As i remember, white back ground decals work in gray scale. So no transparency only color variation. (256 grays)

On the other hand, color decals require a full BLUE 255 background that has no interlacing, else the part of the image that isnt full BLUE 255 will be left as annoying blue squares in the image.

Azin try Adobe Illustrator.

It has a great grid that can be modded. Each Grid line is divided into organized 8x8 squares.
I use it for all of mine planning. Plus you can easily add nice colors and shit. Check out one of mine most recent:

Its always more creative that way, but you can do some cool stuff in illustrator once you planned it on paper. To make it more clean and production ready.

One important thing you seem to have missed is that i was referring to 1Gb per second.
Thats one giga BIT per second.
1Byte = 8Bits
That means that 1Gb = 128MB/s
And modern cheap SATA HDDs have speeds up to 128MB/s

Which means normal home usage HDDs would have easily bared with 1Gb/s speeds.

Probably, just as an iMac is a computer in a motor, there will probably be a monitor with Holographic Versatile cards or some new technology (50GB on credit card size), and stuff like that.

Or, even better, holograms :P

The future holds lots of opportunities for us, but i like the old retro style my self. Screen, 2 devices on the side for data and everything else, a keyboard and a mouse. All designed to be cool.

Fine, there are methods of using such a line speed. But is it realistic? Are you going to continously;download things to your pc? Wht about the cost of these RAID solutions?
Yes it is, and you, a normal user, have absolutely no need for this kinds of speeds, nor can you afford it.
This is a requirement for places where big speed is needed for data transfer.

And think a bit about the future, just a keyboard and mouse and a screen, the rest is on a server miles away all connected with a 5Gb/s internet connection!

I guess you were just trying to show me how non ethical it is for home usage.

Yes, Rufee is right, hard drives, as well as CD/DVD/BR ROMs have cache chips. Newer hybrid hard drives are an HDD SSD combo, the data is on the HDD but it also has a good big SSD speed cache.

RAID can be bad, if one drive dies all your data dies. And SAS drives in servers are also in RAID. Multiple drives, even up to 20 can be in RAID.

One good 15kRPM 1Gb/s 174GB SAS can cost up to 1000$, plus you need the controller.

It will load into memory and than onto the hard drive.
And as i said there are hard drives that operate above 1Gb/s.

Sas and Scsi.

It will load into memory and it will operate from there sending/receiving.
