Oh, the pictures look so gorgeous that I thought it was something related with advanced entity placement or similar. Anyway, I think it is done with a texlight and a func_wall, am I right?. :/

You can just set a black-matted texture to additive to achieve that glowing effect, Abbadon. FX amount will define how opaque the brights are, and it'll be fullbright.

Essentially.
What the additive render mode does is literally add the color values of itself and what is behind it together.
If parts of your texture are black, it has a value of [0.,0.,0.] and obviously any value X + 0 = X; so it has no effect. But any non-zero color, so for example [255.,0.,0.] in the texture in front of something that's [32.,32.,32.] will add to [255.,32.,32.]

Has anyone else noticed that half of the render FX modes just don't work?

Some render modes only work for some types of models. It could be possible that some are outright ignored as well, i see that only a few are handled directly in render mode changing functions.

very nice piece of art :D crossfire.

i cant judge experts but i see some stuff makes my eye uncomfortable. if you would like to accept my thoughts here it is;

that double doors sits disturbingly perfect on that walkway :D feels like doors fixed to that way. maybe you should add door stoppers to make more explainable allignment to path. :D

what is the sense of these 4 concrete roadblocks sitting there

also i would love to join this compo if i could imagine in more creative ways. but i dont think i could :(

That's pretty nice, but not very convincing. The black hollow in your wall has white bricks sticking out which would have been normally removed.

Unfortunately had very little progress over the last 10 days or so; the fun of being away from my desktop!

So far I've recorded a bunch of voice lines but has mostly been texture creation work; unfortunately haven't added too much in the way of geo. It's a shame, I'm still experiencing severe detailitis - skipping making a rough layout of the entire map and going straight to finalising and detailing the shit out of a really small area.

I've also realised this'll be my first competition entry and third uploaded map despite being on this site for >11 years

Looking Good Archie! Very clean nice work.

I've started on three separate entries but wasn't in love with any of them. They just weren't turning out as imagined.

I might try one more iteration I have in mind but besides that, i'm working on an invention that I want to get patented and it's taking up most of my free time.

I've launched sledge 4 times, looked around a bit and played world of tanks instead.

I decompiled the HLDM map my entry is based on, removed all the bits I don't need, and now I'm just starting to rebuild the major brushes of the layout-- since the decompiler really made a mess of them.

I think about my entry all day at work--ideas bloom more ideas--, but somehow when I get home all my eagerness evaporates, and I just want to do other stuff. Since I never have energy for this at the end of the day, gonna try waking up a few hours earlier in the morning to get mine done.

I see what you mean Urby. It's just that I have a provisional that expires in a few months so I have to do something with it before it does. I don't really have any one to go to for advice with my invention so it's hard to figure out how to get it done in time.

I just made fab drawings and sent them to a few shops to get quoted. The gears i've ordered online and have in a working plastic prototype and will braze them to the stainless steel parts. I'll share the invention when i'm able to.

Besides that, that sounds like a good idea waking up before work to work on entries! Morning are when I have most energy too although I have to be in the office at 7:30.

Wow, what a mash up. I've seen at least four different map areas I can recognize!

Someone once mentioned to me after submiting a stalkyard remake that I could have rotated some of the boxes.

Man if you could revamp some half life ambience it would suit your map aewsomely!

Should be a new map, otherwise you'd have an unfair advantage over the other entries because you would have more time to complete it. We can't really stop you from doing it anyway but please be fair to everyone else :)
